    Like you I am drawn to skulls and their appearance! You've done a really great job with this keeping the proportions and major landmarks accurate. I don't know how you do it 😅. Also your casting process is so interesting to watch. It's great you share all these tips and tricks to help others. I was surprised at how "simple" the painting process was. It always seems like you have so much fun doing these projects, it's inspiring 😁

      Thanks Kamm. Yeah I've always been as interested in the techniques as the final product, so it's interesting to explore mould making and so on.
      Oh btw, while I have you - I was going to do a quick shout out video about OMC to let people know the comp is starting again soon. I'm sure you won't mind but I thought I'd mention it ;)

    An awesome sculpture, great to see your journey from "40k skullz" to more anatomical ones.

    It would be cool if you put skin on some of these skills to see what it would look like just a thought

      I actually did that and used one of my other skulls to make a zombie :)

    Nice work dude! Have you ever tried copper powder with polyurethane resin?I have been mucking around with lion heads with polyester and copper powder and then treating with baking powder/mustard and sea salt soaked in household ammonia with good results, stinky though!

    • @thedarkpower
      @thedarkpower  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! I've used brass powder with black polyurethane yeah. You can get some nice results if you give it a good polish. It corrodes well with patination fluid, I've not tried ammonia etc though. Does that do the same thing?

      @creativecomposites6193 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thedarkpower Yes the ammonia and sea salt really work well ,cheap too! I paint the ammonia on then sprinkle salt baking powder and cover with cling film for half a day,then gently rinse off with water and when dry a lite spray lacquer. The salt gives a dark marine blue and the baking powder a turquoise, If you apply the mustard (colemans!)kind of masks it and it comes up shiny in those areas.

      Thanks, I've really enjoyed experimenting with patinas so I'll have to give that a go. I've heard miracle-gro also gives a good patina, I've not tried it myself though.

      Cheers, it's actually a sculpture of my tattoo ;) I'll have a video looking at that one soon.

    Your sculpts are incredible, and I love your videos, I am wanting to get into the hobby and you are truly inspirational, however the one negative contributing factor, from what I have seen is the lack of anatomical detail in the teeth they just lack that 'real' look, if you were to get this a little more accurate then, from my view (for what its worth) I believe you would create skulls that are elevated to a whole new level.

    • @thedarkpower
      @thedarkpower  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers dude and I'm glad the videos are interesting. You know what, I was literally just looking at acrylic teeth on ebay ;) The ones in the sculpture are abit flatter so they don't pick up air bubbles in the mould. I am considering doing a version which has separate teeth but that makes the moulding process more complex. V2.0 should have better teeth regardless of which way I do it ;)

      @@thedarkpower I’m a dental technician hence why I noticed the teeth, we make teeth everyday so I’m used to seeing what looks right, denture teeth will be a good thing to use/study, I look forward to seeing future sculpts etc, keep up the good work 👍🏽

      Ah of course, I think we've spoken before haven't we. Cool, yeah unfortunately while I have a real skull for reference, it doesn't have any teeth! Cheers dude, all the best.

    • @thedarkpower
      @thedarkpower  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah, you need to make some compromises to get a clean pull from the mould, so these are deliberately shallow. My previous skull would often trap air bubbles in the teeth. I'd like to do one where the teeth are cast separately, obviously that complicates the process somewhat though.
