Some say zeke's plan is better because paradisians get to die off peacefully, but it's rather a slow and painful death, your people dying is not something most would take lightly, especially considering 99% of eldian are innocent and merely victims of their circumstances. But even zeke's plan would delay the enevitable fall of the island, since it has rare resources, once there were little to no eldian left, the world would just invade Paradis, even so it would be much earlier because of technological advancements, they wouldn't even fear the rumbling that much. Both plans were awful in my opinion, but the islands fate was sealed when eren attacked Marley, before that there could be a path to a peaceful solution with Armins talk no juitsu, but what am I talking about, Eren fucked over everyone from the start, probably pushed zeke and xaver to come up with the slow and painful death of their people.
I like how Mappa portrays the beginning of the rumbling as the start of an incomprehensible tragedy while this guy portrays it as the power and rage of the founding titan. Both are significant in their own ways.
Throughout her whole life, Ymir was basically seen as either, a god by the eldians, a devil by her enemies or a slave by the eldian royal family. Eren was the only one who saw her as a human, and decided to set her free, and allow her to decide for herself what she should do.

Its crazy to me how the author managed to make both opposing sides the good guys. Neither of them is an evil villain just because they are assholes. You can sympathize with both sides and it almost breaks your heart to see them fighting and killing each other. Mastapiece of a series

In the same way, for years the people of Marley have been brainwashed to demonize the eldians. Whether they live in the interminent zone or on the island. Off course there are some military assholes but you can say that about any military in the world. Assholes are not exclusive to a country or a job occupation, they are sadly everywhere. Also they are a country who happen to have the power of the nine titans. They could have used them to improve life for everyone but instead they use it to take over more land and resources. Which is very human if you ask me. I have yet to hear of a country that uses their power solely for the benefit of others.

He is also fairly good in handling the romance. I mean Ymir and Historia had a pretty good relationship so that says something. Christian Costa it’s more that you sometimes have to sacrifice your ties of a loved one to do the right thing. Mikasa and Eren sacrificed their future with each other for the world and the people they love. She realized it once she saw the vision of what could have happened if she decided to run away with Eren. That’s how life simply is, there is no perfect solution to everything. It wouldn’t be Attack on Titan if they lived happily ever after. Ymir got inspired by that, because another female was strong enough to do what she wasn’t able to do for 2000 years. Like Eren said, he was just a tool to Ymir. Mikasa has always been the person Ymir was waiting for. Mikasa in my opinion is one of the best role model and character I’ve seen out of all female Anime character. She ended up to not be this type of girl that puts the one person above everybody else. I feel like romance in Anime’s often is people that just constantly show dramatically how much they are ready to sacrifice each other, and the rest is just people that they care about but nobody compares. While Mikasa to Eren has always been the person he wanted to protect, but always let her go her own way. You never got to see this overprotective said of him. He knows when she can do it herself. To me that’s a good example of romance. They never had to put their love on display and still had room to deeply love their friends as well.

@@marshalsoult3860 The whole “Stockholm syndrome” argument doesn’t even work especially since Isayama used Aishiteru. Using "ai" to describe love is a quite a big deal in Japanese, it's like making sure it's LOVE, nothing else. It's one of the strongest vocabulary for love.

for me this was really the peak of the story... Eren became Warlord and King of the Eldians by having real empathy for the weakest and most enslaved of his own people.. everyone else saw Ymir as just a tool to be used, but Eren Yeager understood how worthless and helpless she felt. such a waste that Isayama robbed this moment of its real weight and significance, this really is excellent and profound writing right here, Isa just needed to wrap AoT up in a way that made sense.

Historia saved Eren when he finally gave up on himself, and Eren saved Ymir who gave up on herself for 2000 years. and there's also the parallel that Eren saved Armin in a similar way when they were children.. i liked the idea that Eren never changed, he was always violent when ppl tried to rob him of his freedom, he was always trying to help weaker ppl he saw as innocent.. throw all these powerful ideas away so we can think about how Ymir was really just missing her asshole ex-boyfriend all along lol i'll never get over this, but I'm glad Mappa is doing such a great job with the adaptation so far
I've been watching AOT motion mangas for years especially chapters 121-122. I can't believe that I am finally going to see my favorite chapters animated. It blows my mind that the new season is starting today. What a time to be alive.

You can see throughout the manga it's not what he wants to do. It's what he believes he has to do. There are so many moments where he's begging for a different solution but nobody has one. His final goodbye point was his last conversation with Hange. Everyone kept on saying how "This isn't the way" but nobody knew to say "THAT is the way. Except Zeke, but his plan was basically a milder version of "let's kill ourselves".

The anime on this scene has a much different feel. Here the music makes it feel really hype. It kinda makes you cheer for eren, cause he’s able to free ymir. But in the anime, it’s a much darker feel. The music and color really sets the tone of coming dread.

Maybe because the author already revealed in previous interviews that the ending has drastically changed from its original format. And maybe because when it comes to work with manga, the editors and publishers always manage to ruin a lifelong series for monetary purposes.
Eren did the opposite of what the royal bloodline did. He was being kind, he wanted to help her. The royal bloodline kept treating her as a slave and then just kept ordering around, making fake stories to hide the truth from everyone else. I bet if Historia somehow also got into the path world, she would've also freed Ymir from slavery.

Now that i'm aware of who Yimir is, i'm glad Eren saved her from 2000 years of slavery even during death all alone. Of all people Eren did everything he could to this point to set her free, because she had a fate worst than death. I would have been more happy to just die and rest in peace, but to continue being a slave for many thousands of years after death is HORRIBLE.
Not just for 2000 years, the paths has time slowed down. So each time one of them transforms she moulds thier titan from clay by hand, in real time it looks instantaneous but she probably takes months to make one, which means she has been a slave for millions of years

But they can't control what others do after they Armin and the others die. And If you think a full 100% rumbling would've worked, you're wrong too. First because the titan curse would've never end since Mikasa had to kill Eren for Ymir to let the power of the titans go. And second because just like Willy Tybur said in his speech, years and years ago when the eldian empire run out of enemies, the eldians started to kill each other. The jeagerists were starting to kill people who "betrayed" them or didn't support them, just like the eldian empire years ago when innocent people were killed.

I don't know what Yams was thinking when he wrote chapter 139. Ymir was a child who had her village burned, parents killed, tongue cut off, and forced to be a slave. One day, she frees some pigs incarcerated because the ideal of freedom was something beautiful to her; she had that glimpse of what it's like to be free by freeing the pigs that were locked up waiting to be slaughtered. Everyone pointed at her, and the Shitz Fritz let her go free in a sick hunting game. She stumbles upon a giant tree and accidentally falls on it. Drowning and without any hope to live, a strange creature that was lying deep within the tree connected to the child's spine, giving her a godly power - that of becoming a titan. After gaining this unfathomable strength, she, for some reason, decided to come back and keep serving the Fritz destroying entire civilizations and killing millions of innocents. One day, her master's life is at risk, forcing her to put herself between the danger and the king. She was hit and fell to the ground. The Shitz then proceeds to insult her even more by telling her that she's nothing but a slave and that's the reason why she was born in the first place. I thought all the misery she lived through, the pain she suffered, the humiliation created a mindset within her; not the Stockholm syndrome, like everyone is saying, but the need to be loved, that of belonging to something. She was deceived by her oppressor that his acts were a form of love, she never had any idea of what love really was like. Having lost her home, her family, and her will to live, with nothing else to cling on anymore, she dies. Why did she choose to die? She could just regenerate? That's another point against the syndrome argument. I think she was at her limit and could no longer serve her master. Finally, everything would come to an end. But due to her godly powers, she wakes up in another world whereas, in reality, the king gives her body for her children to eat remorselessly. She then proceeds to spend the next 2000 years building titans driven by the sole purpose of serving the royal family. Then we have Eren, the person who is literally the embodiment of freedom itself, understanding her pain and giving her the right to make a choice by herself. All that emotional dialogue, the buildup, foreshadowing, everything lead to that moment. Eren asks her a question: "Was it you who lead me here?". It's obvious that he's the chosen one, the person who was set to free her, the one she was waiting for. But, NO! The person she was waiting for was Mikasa. Why? Well, suddenly the true reason Ymir stayed all these years serving the royal family was not due to her being a slave, but because SHE LOVED THE SHITZ FRITZ. That's right. And Mikasa was the one she chose to free her from the pain of love. Do you see how this manga turned out to be? A fucking comedy. How sad, really.
Still I don't understand, why Mikasa is the chosen one? And how does she knows her existence while she was currently on that realms? And why Ymir chose Mikasa love to free her from pain? Someone pls tell me, I need answer me😭🙏

It's referring to Eren before chapter 139, where he didn't care about gals despite him actually secretly showing care from the inside. It's kind of like how they called him a 'chad' in the tatakae scene.

As a manga reader who saw the ending of the story i can honestly say after 123 the quality went down and after 131-132 (132 max) it went to shit for good. It was good while it lasted, still one of my fav series even if the ending ruined it for me mostly. EDIT: the additional 8 pages really ruined it idk what happened, but Yamz smoked some hard drugs while doing this ending.

I still feel this was always the planned ending, it's just that the way it was executed overall, a lot of people were misdirected into thinking what the themes of the story were, hard to blame the reader here. Ending was not great, I agree with that, Without changing the ending plot points,I believe more details to the finale should've been added, it still could've have improved 139 a lot more. Hopefully anime will provide that.

This music may seem good for the fan - made version but doesn't fit the original material. The music and sound direction in this particular scene and this entire season was spot on and masterfully adapted. The original music(and visuals) perfectly captures the atmosphere, tone, gravity and weight of the occasion, it accurately encapsulates the entire rumbling. Give credit where it's due, you're being ignorant, just to hate.

The music gave me flashback when Historia refuses his father's order, but now it's Ymir who refuses royal blood's order forever.
Add that Ymir is Historia's Ancestor and both of them "set free" by Eren. There is a really deep twist there.

Some say zeke's plan is better because paradisians get to die off peacefully, but it's rather a slow and painful death, your people dying is not something most would take lightly, especially considering 99% of eldian are innocent and merely victims of their circumstances.
But even zeke's plan would delay the enevitable fall of the island, since it has rare resources, once there were little to no eldian left, the world would just invade Paradis, even so it would be much earlier because of technological advancements, they wouldn't even fear the rumbling that much. Both plans were awful in my opinion, but the islands fate was sealed when eren attacked Marley, before that there could be a path to a peaceful solution with Armins talk no juitsu, but what am I talking about, Eren fucked over everyone from the start, probably pushed zeke and xaver to come up with the slow and painful death of their people.

I like how Mappa portrays the beginning of the rumbling as the start of an incomprehensible tragedy while this guy portrays it as the power and rage of the founding titan. Both are significant in their own ways.
Throughout her whole life, Ymir was basically seen as either, a god by the eldians, a devil by her enemies or a slave by the eldian royal family. Eren was the only one who saw her as a human, and decided to set her free, and allow her to decide for herself what she should do.

Christian Costa it’s more that you sometimes have to sacrifice your ties of a loved one to do the right thing. Mikasa and Eren sacrificed their future with each other for the world and the people they love. She realized it once she saw the vision of what could have happened if she decided to run away with Eren. That’s how life simply is, there is no perfect solution to everything. It wouldn’t be Attack on Titan if they lived happily ever after. Ymir got inspired by that, because another female was strong enough to do what she wasn’t able to do for 2000 years. Like Eren said, he was just a tool to Ymir. Mikasa has always been the person Ymir was waiting for. Mikasa in my opinion is one of the best role model and character I’ve seen out of all female Anime character. She ended up to not be this type of girl that puts the one person above everybody else. I feel like romance in Anime’s often is people that just constantly show dramatically how much they are ready to sacrifice each other, and the rest is just people that they care about but nobody compares. While Mikasa to Eren has always been the person he wanted to protect, but always let her go her own way. You never got to see this overprotective said of him. He knows when she can do it herself. To me that’s a good example of romance. They never had to put their love on display and still had room to deeply love their friends as well.

for me this was really the peak of the story... Eren became Warlord and King of the Eldians by having real empathy for the weakest and most enslaved of his own people.. everyone else saw Ymir as just a tool to be used, but Eren Yeager understood how worthless and helpless she felt.
such a waste that Isayama robbed this moment of its real weight and significance, this really is excellent and profound writing right here, Isa just needed to wrap AoT up in a way that made sense.

You can see throughout the manga it's not what he wants to do. It's what he believes he has to do. There are so many moments where he's begging for a different solution but nobody has one. His final goodbye point was his last conversation with Hange. Everyone kept on saying how "This isn't the way" but nobody knew to say "THAT is the way. Except Zeke, but his plan was basically a milder version of "let's kill ourselves".

Eren did the opposite of what the royal bloodline did. He was being kind, he wanted to help her. The royal bloodline kept treating her as a slave and then just kept ordering around, making fake stories to hide the truth from everyone else. I bet if Historia somehow also got into the path world, she would've also freed Ymir from slavery.

Now that i'm aware of who Yimir is, i'm glad Eren saved her from 2000 years of slavery even during death all alone. Of all people Eren did everything he could to this point to set her free, because she had a fate worst than death. I would have been more happy to just die and rest in peace, but to continue being a slave for many thousands of years after death is HORRIBLE.
Not just for 2000 years, the paths has time slowed down. So each time one of them transforms she moulds thier titan from clay by hand, in real time it looks instantaneous but she probably takes months to make one, which means she has been a slave for millions of years

I don't know what Yams was thinking when he wrote chapter 139. Ymir was a child who had her village burned, parents killed, tongue cut off, and forced to be a slave. One day, she frees some pigs incarcerated because the ideal of freedom was something beautiful to her; she had that glimpse of what it's like to be free by freeing the pigs that were locked up waiting to be slaughtered. Everyone pointed at her, and the Shitz Fritz let her go free in a sick hunting game. She stumbles upon a giant tree and accidentally falls on it. Drowning and without any hope to live, a strange creature that was lying deep within the tree connected to the child's spine, giving her a godly power - that of becoming a titan. After gaining this unfathomable strength, she, for some reason, decided to come back and keep serving the Fritz destroying entire civilizations and killing millions of innocents. One day, her master's life is at risk, forcing her to put herself between the danger and the king. She was hit and fell to the ground. The Shitz then proceeds to insult her even more by telling her that she's nothing but a slave and that's the reason why she was born in the first place. I thought all the misery she lived through, the pain she suffered, the humiliation created a mindset within her; not the Stockholm syndrome, like everyone is saying, but the need to be loved, that of belonging to something. She was deceived by her oppressor that his acts were a form of love, she never had any idea of what love really was like. Having lost her home, her family, and her will to live, with nothing else to cling on anymore, she dies. Why did she choose to die? She could just regenerate? That's another point against the syndrome argument. I think she was at her limit and could no longer serve her master. Finally, everything would come to an end. But due to her godly powers, she wakes up in another world whereas, in reality, the king gives her body for her children to eat remorselessly. She then proceeds to spend the next 2000 years building titans driven by the sole purpose of serving the royal family. Then we have Eren, the person who is literally the embodiment of freedom itself, understanding her pain and giving her the right to make a choice by herself. All that emotional dialogue, the buildup, foreshadowing, everything lead to that moment. Eren asks her a question: "Was it you who lead me here?". It's obvious that he's the chosen one, the person who was set to free her, the one she was waiting for. But, NO! The person she was waiting for was Mikasa. Why? Well, suddenly the true reason Ymir stayed all these years serving the royal family was not due to her being a slave, but because SHE LOVED THE SHITZ FRITZ. That's right. And Mikasa was the one she chose to free her from the pain of love.
Do you see how this manga turned out to be? A fucking comedy. How sad, really.

This entire scene wasn't a dark moment though. It was the moment Ymir was finally free, and Eren was brought back from the dead. Only the rumbling could be considered dark but even that fits better with this music imo.

As a manga reader who saw the ending of the story i can honestly say after 123 the quality went down and after 131-132 (132 max) it went to shit for good. It was good while it lasted, still one of my fav series even if the ending ruined it for me mostly.
EDIT: the additional 8 pages really ruined it idk what happened, but Yamz smoked some hard drugs while doing this ending.

@@hanismh2695Yes, he didn't execute his intended themes for the story properly, that's why the ending that he had always planned came off as contradictory to the theme interpreted by us from all the previous chapters. I still feel this was always the planned ending, it's just that the way it was executed overall, a lot of people were misdirected into thinking what the themes of the story were, hard to blame the reader here.
Ending was not great, I agree with that, Without changing the ending plot points,I believe more details to the finale should've been added, it still could've have improved 139 a lot more. Hopefully anime will provide that.

This music may seem good for the fan - made version but doesn't fit the original material. The music and sound direction in this particular scene and this entire season was spot on and masterfully adapted. The original music(and visuals) perfectly captures the atmosphere, tone, gravity and weight of the occasion, it accurately encapsulates the entire rumbling. Give credit where it's due, you're being ignorant, just to hate.
