How To Pick Up Your New Hedgehog

(Even if they're a huge ball of spikes!)
In this video we'll go over how to pick up both a hedgehog used to human touch and a hedgehog not used to human touch. We'll be using our rescue, Cream, and our hedgehog got from a breeder, Pumpkin, to showcase the best ways to pick up your hedgehog without recoiling.

Mine curls up like completely like a ball and then my hands get stuck inside the ball and he bites me😣
Update 3 years later: he is so much nicer now! He just really needed time to warm up to me we're homies now :D

So u have a hedgehog that is mean sometimes and he has to get used to u so maybe pick him up with a towel and maybe try to snuggle him if u pick him up

How are you so chill?!?! Im taking care of my sister's hedgehog for the next week and I'm on day 3. EVERY time I try to pick him up, he hisses and jumps at me and screams. I troed with a towl and he's so scary lol 😭

I tried to hold my hedgehog but he's more of the explorer type so it's like he can't stay in one place or my lap or hands. He just like sniffing my hand for a bit and try to get down on the floor. I don't know if it's because he's curious, or he's scared of me but I'm a bit confused. Is this normal for a new hedgehog?

Get freeze dried ones, they are way less gross and you can still have a happy lil spikey friend.
