- Hofner Violin Bass 500-1 61 "Cavern" review. More info at www.hofner-gui...
Please note that Come Together (The Beatles) was originally played by Paul McCartney with a Ric, but I love the Hofner sound on that song!!!
Finally someone let's us hear what it sounds like in the music...how it cuts through, the attack, etc.....thanks!!!
Cindy Barg thanks fo you
I think somebody else already did that. Some guy from Liverpool, almost 60 years ago...
I'll never understand why this pickup layout was not the more popular one. I find that with the ones that have the treble pickup right next the bridge, the treble pickup is absolutely unusable on it's own and doesn't even sound that great when blended with the neck pickup.
I agree with you, mk win, 100%...I did my own review based on that very same fact---th-cam.com/video/cdBD-v75ShI/w-d-xo.html
Absolutely. The pickups together on the ‘61 sounds powerful. I’d like to hear them in series
I also agree, deeper tones than the 63' version............. and a nicer neck on the 61' Cavern
the very best hofner 500/1 review! Great player!
thanks a lot
Great demo. I can’t wait to get my Hofner with the neck and middle pickup too
Thank u!!! It's bout time that there was cavern bass review on u tube
Loved the Robert Palmer reference in that bass line!
You did a great job my Italian Brother 🇮🇹 .
I am a singer songwriter musician . I play multiple instruments and and I’m also in the Alabama music Hall of Fame. I worked with the legendary, Roger
Hawkins and Jimmy
Johnson of Muscle Shoals Sound .
I really loved your song &
how at the end of the song
everybody follow the baseline musically .
I’m also a huge McCartney Fan have been since 64 .
Thanks!
@@albertorigonibassist your very welcome 🙏
@@cjsciandra2623 check out my music on Spotify!
It's got such a nice sound
The German control panel helps
Actually, Come Together was most probably recorded with Rick, not Hofner; he could play Twist and Shout or something instead
Mateusz Ostrówka yes you’re right but I like how it sounds with hofner
Very nice review, I have the same bass. Not cheap, but compare the tone to all the asian versions ! Heavy deep bass tones an a beauty to see also.
Very interesting, thanks a lot. Would you say the sound of this pickup layout is more peculiar compared to the "normal" one? Which one would you prefer?
great review, thanks for posting!
Ho sempre adorato il basso per violino Hofner. Adoro la canzone alla fine del Video amico mio.
Great video Alberto 👍👍👍
i like the song at the end. singing style and funny lyrics remind me a lot of the band Elefant. (love them). also great info in the video thanks.
Thanks!
Great song, funny how you sand Busting my Balls, I thought that was the songs title, very well made and played song, Loved it a lot, and love the Bass you play beautifully, fantastic video ; I learned a lot , thank you for sharing this 👍💋
Steven Schoenfeld thanks mate
Good guitar review. I also really dig your band's tune, Robert Palmer.
DamnSkippy1 thanks
Great video. Thanks!
I like the original tune; it reminds me of a 1979 New-Wave song.
A great bass riff and song!!!
Thank you for the review. Is there any difference in neck thickness between this '61 bass and your '62 bass? There was a time when Hofner made the Cavern bass necks very uncomfortably thick, compared to the more playable '62 neck. Also, as I recall, the back of the '61 body is flat compared to the arched back of the '62.
B17b25guy you’re welcome! I didn’t feel much difference they are both super comfortable
I have a recent ‘61 and its neck is thicker than the ‘62. I do think it influences the tone in a good way, like a P vs a J neck.
I like thick necks. More comfortable for me for the way I hold it (not like a guitar).
Great song, Robert Palmer, love it !
Great tone. What impedance are the pickups?
The Hofner basses are the only bass for me. I like the song, "Robert Palmer". Say the name of the band once more, prego....where can I buy it? Ciao From America.
to my ear sounds a bit like a precision bass
Love the t-shirt.
:)
Nice playing and thanks for sharing your video, what model would you advise me to purchase my budget is £2000.00 UK Pounds, i had a Hofner over 40 years ago, what amp are you using.
well you can go for a real vintage one, check on reverb... or for a new one. I love both the 61 cavern and the 62
I use ashdown gear
Hey, are you Roberto Donadoni?
Which do you prefer, cavern or the one with the bridge pickup
Niel Imperial hard to say they are both grey just different
Enjoyed it.
What do you think about the ignition or contemporary cavern bass?
Sorry haven’t tried them
Love your song! Whose singing?
Are these round or flat wound strings?
WizardStudios flat
En come together todos cometen el error de tocar la parte del LA igual que el RE.Paul toca LA DO Estira hasta DO#
i love the song you play at the end, where can i hear the full song?
onehung lo thanks! Go to theitaliansband dot bandcamp dot com
Alberto Rigoni. Thank you
@@Md75897 I can't find it.
Top tune Alberto
Chow
price range?
Neck dive ????
Is it a short scale?
Höfner says it's medium scale, but I would group in into the short scales, yes.
Please tell me you have a youtube channel, typing the italians, or the italians band does not show you…
No sorry only this theitalians.bandcamp.com
I lika a bass ah.
o hi mark
was it really called the Cavern Club? almost 3 grand just to play a moderately interesting bass line with a muffled woolly sound... gimme a break!
