I love both channels, you're all wonderful. I chose the perfect time to binge all these episodes as I just lost my aunt recently and it's a pretty trying time for me. 4:40 When I clear my throat it sounds more like I'm hacking something up 16:45 fun fact: some snakes do have "legs". They're vestigial and are called scutes.
I love the voices and you both nailed it. Moving like Gollum was hilarious, but it also made my back and knees ache with sympathy. I'm awful at riddles. I tend to overthink them and make them way more difficult than they actually are meant to be. There's a sort of logic to them that doesn't seem all that logical to me. Ellen's back and forth about the Star Wars prequels had me laughing so hard it sent me into a coughing fit; especially the news bit of it. Luke throwing in "precious" talking about the difficulty of the Souls games is hilarious. I agree with James on Luke's Gollum. I think Ellen does a great Gollum and Luke does a great Smeagol. It'd be fun for them to have a debate with Luke doing the Smeagol side of things and Ellen the Gollum side. To touch on that topic though, there's a difference, at least to me, between accessibility options and difficulty modes. Games can still be difficult while having accessibility options for disabled individuals. I'm of the mind that the games give players everything they need to succeed and it's on the player to apply what they learn. With each death, particularly to a boss, the player is meant to learn the moves, remember how they died, and work to avoid it. I admit it does take a while though. It's not for lack of time that I've been working on Bloodborne since Nov 2020; it's a focus issue along with playing other games or needing a break from it. That feeling of beating a seemingly insurmountable boss/area is hard to top and for me FromSoftware games nail that feeling almost all the time. Elden Ring's approach with the open world, having a mount, and being able to just avoid certain areas and return to them later (and to nope away from the field/area bosses and come back later, especially) makes the game the most approachable of their games, I think. ::prepares for incoming replies because it's a touchy subject::

Luke's riddles were tougher....wait, what were we judging this on? Anyway, the accents were amazing. R4: Purple Ellen for the prequel debate and Yellow Luke for the souls difficulty thing
what i love about show of the weekend is that this is an amazingly entertaining video of two adults playing. and also that the origin of the riddle assassin is that Luke taking the piss out of riddles and absolutely HATES riddles. xD
I love how when Ellen's pro-prequel Gollum starts out somewhat confident but the aggression of anti-prequel Gollum makes him more meek and apologetic as the argument goes along. Love it! Best SotW in yonks. I was expecting Luke's couch-crawling to lead to a "Beloved Internet Personality Hospitalized After Bizarre Golluming Accident" headline, but thankfully all's well. Now to see how much it would cost to get Andy Serkis to read "Little Women" as Gollum...
To become good at arguing like a Gollum, one has to embrace his inner youtube comments section. (or Twitter/reddit)
Okay, I think both of you did a great job. I do have to give a bonus huzzah to Luke for portraying a gollum half his size. My mom would probably prefer these videos to be Less entertaining because I always watch them after I have gotten her to bed and my laughing so hard is not helpful when she is trying to sleep. I love that you three(Jon or James included) make me laugh. It makes a difficult time with my mom being ill so much better. I know these are actually hard work, Thanks so much.
For me...
R1: Ellen, but just barely
R2: Ellen, and Gollum's movement is kinda Spider-Many, in my mind.
R3: the winner of this round is James, since he didn't have to participate. Luke's riddles were tougher....wait, what were we judging this on? Anyway, the accents were amazing.
R4: Purple Ellen for the prequel debate and Yellow Luke for the souls difficulty thing
Outside extra at its best. Hilarious, endearing, entertaining and related to video games by the thinnest of gossamer threads. Loved it!
what i love about show of the weekend is that this is an amazingly entertaining video of two adults playing. and also that the origin of the riddle assassin is that Luke taking the piss out of riddles and absolutely HATES riddles. xD
I have genuinely not laughed that hard in a long while. My face HURTS from smiling and giggling so much.
I love how when Ellen's pro-prequel Gollum starts out somewhat confident but the aggression of anti-prequel Gollum makes him more meek and apologetic as the argument goes along. Felt like two distinct personalities not only having a conversation but genuinely affecting each other. If that was completely spontaneous, I am mightily impressed! Great job Ellen!
