I never cried at a concert until Halestorm played dear daughter. I still can't listen to it without crying. My mom passed when I was 13 and these are things that I needed to hear when I was a young teen. I miss her every day and while the song makes me cry and I think of my mom and I, it's one of the most beautiful songs ever.

I'm so sorry. Losing a mom is really rough; both founders of LML lost their moms not too long ago, but Todd and I were grown when our moms passed. I can't imagine losing my mom at 13.
We're publishing The Hu and LZZY Hale's "Song of Women" for mother's day. I'm hope you come back and check that one out.

My mom sent me Dear Daughter just a couple of months ago in a FB message. I've loved the song since it came out, and as a mom of a daughter I cry every single time I hear it. But having my country music loving mom hear it and send it to me with a sweet message makes it feel even more special. Even adult daughters with daughters of their own need to be reminded of these things. 🖤

Blows my mind that a song like Dear Daughter was not considered for a Grammy when it came out. Such a beautiful song and message!

Completely agree. It's a beautiful song, and the video brings me to tears. It's been pretty clear for at least the last decade that the Grammys no longer view rock music and rock bands as seriously as other genres of music.

"Dear Daughter" took on a whole new meaning to me when I was watching them live in concert, and next to me was a guy and his daughter who was like 9 years old and sitting on his shoulders in the crowd and I just had so much appreciation and respect for her upbringing and her father for bringing her to a rock concert, for raising her on Lzzy's music (and others too - the concert was New Year's Day, In This Moment and Halestorm so all female-fronted rock bands).

Thank you so much! I loved introducing Ladi to one of my favorite bands. In the first episode, Ladi had NO IDEA he was about to see a female lead singer. All I told him was the lead singer for Halestorm has one of the most powerful and technically proficient voice I've ever heard. So when he sees Lzzy belt out that scream at the beginning of "I Miss The Misery" that's his genuine reaction.
And I've reacted to Halestorm in the past if you haven't seen them.
Most recently I did "Back From the Dead" th-cam.com/video/EF569IW1TZc/w-d-xo.html

I was almost thinking you'd pick Do not Disturb, just to see Ladis reaction to *that* line :) But seriously, Halestorm is one of those bands where I have a hard time to think of a bad song from them, you could make ten of these videos and still have more to showcase for Ladi. Halestorm was the band that brought me back to live shows years ago, and damn what a show it was, she truly does sound even better live. A few other must listen to are Break In with Amy Lee and "The Silence" for the softer side and "Back from the Dead" and "I am the Fire" for the more "kick in the face"-side of them.

    • @LikeMindedLunatics
      @LikeMindedLunatics  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

It was actually really, really hard to decide which songs to do. When we first discussed this playlist, we decided that I'd get two videos per band, and that sounded fine at the time! But like I said in another comment, my wife and I spent almost an hour discussing which songs I should show Ladi! They have so, so many great tunes, and Lzzy is just amazing in everything she does.
And I actually considered "Do Not Disturb," but I reacted to that video last Halloween on the 31st: th-cam.com/video/xHpu5fuZak8/w-d-xo.html

You all need to check out her compilations with the Hu (song:of women, which she co wrote) the Pcturebooks (Rebel) Lindsay sterling (song: Shatter Me). These are all fabulous. I only rediscovered Halestorm about 4 years ago. Now I am discovering old songs that Halestorm did on or around 20010ish. My husband and I went to see Halestorm and Evanescence in San Diego. It was a fantastic concert. However, the ONLY thing I would want different would have been, to have more songs by Halestorm played. I think they sang like 5 or 6 songs. Plus she had Amy Lee come out and sing Break in. Then Lizzy came out after their stage time to sing 'Heavy'. They were so good. Evanescence did about 10 songs.
I think Halestorm is the best. We like ALL OF THEIR SONGS. Someone said, in one of their posts:. A day without Halestorm, is a day without sunshine. Very, very true.
    Let's go Brandon!!

I think a great twist on this reaction would be reacting to the band that took their name from this song. Lovebites is an all female Japanese Metal band that sings in English and is a throwback to 80's Metal. They are next level musicians and are heavier than Halestorm, but still very melodic. Try "Holy War" live from Zepp Divercity 2020. Also, Asami (Vocalist for Lovebites) has performed with Lzzy and Halestorm.

We settled on these four (Part I "I Miss The Misery" "Here's To Us") but I could have very easily picked others. One of the reasons for these four is there are great videos for them where you can really see LZZY well, so we thought that was important too.

Lzzy is a bad ass, on stage she’s a monster and after all that she and the band are the most down to earth, regular people who are the best people you could ever meet. They’re from a small town in Pennsylvania about 20 min from where I live, and her and her brother were brought up right and are the most genuine people you’ll meet. I love Lzzy’s voice and I call her the female Ronnie James Dio, very powerful voice that can truly belt out a song and at the same time she’ll sound like an angel. I’ve been into Halestorm for a long time, love her voice and the bands music.

I LOVE Lovebites. I'm not all that well-versed in J Rock, but I do like quite a few bands from Japan. My First Story is one of my favorites. I actually have a series planned with one of our other group members who is a professor of music. We're going to dive into rock/metal bands from non-english speaking countries, and Lovebites was one that I already had on my list.
And thanks for checking this video out and recommended "Set The World on Fire." I'm not sure which Lovebites songs Ricky and I will cover, but I'll keep that one in mind.

Hey guys! Loved the video! New Subscriber here! Lzzy is the most amazing woman in rock today! Glad that Ladi has gotten to see what an awesome band Halestorm is! I accidentally ran across their music on the internet back around 2009 and they have been my favorite band since! Keep up the awesome work that you do guys! I don't know if anyone has suggested or not, but Liliac is an awesome up and coming band with an amazing female lead singer as well, they are brothers and sisters, and their music is amazing!!!

I've said this before, but I really do think some of the strongest voices in rock and roll right now are female. Lzzy. Taylor Momsen. Amy Lee. Maria Brink. They're out there just KILLING it!
I think I've seen Liliac's cover of "Enter Sandman," but I'll make sure to check the rest of their stuff out, too. Thanks for the recommendation.
And check out some of our other reactions and let us know what you think. I've made several video diving deep into the lyrics from The Pretty Reckless and Evanescence, but if the deep dives aren't your thing I've also done some fun ones like "Do No Disturb" by Halestorm last Halloween: th-cam.com/video/xHpu5fuZak8/w-d-xo.html

@@LikeMindedLunatics Check out their newer covers of Master of Puppets and the Last in Line, and also their originals, Nothing and Sail Away. They are probably the tightest band out there. For a group so young, the music is amazing!

An all women band who took their name from Halestorm's "Love Bites (So Do I)" (as LOVEBITES) who's vocalist Asami has joined Lzzy onstage in Japan & Europe, is more Metal (prog/power/thrash) mostly, but here is a mellower one, "Inspire" th-cam.com/video/uoEDAIHMc3Q/w-d-xo.html

I love lizzy but um... arejay stole the show when I saw them first time around with evenessence. I was upset but arejay can drum. Lizzy is increable .. Imo best vocalist female or male out there. Reanimate 2.0 must have album of theirs

I agree! I think Lzzy and Joe sometimes get all the attention, and Arejay's in the back, beating the skins so hard they'll batter your soul, and kicking the cymbals as he twirls the sticks around his head like a martial arts expert.
I hope you hit the subscribe button so you see our new content. We have a Valentine's Day matchup that posts tomorrow that features Halestorm, and I talk about Arejay a little bit in it.
And I totally agree. Reanimate is amazing.
