I'm a senior retired American - who has been searching the world for more than a year - to find the ideal 'comfortable' retirement destination with good food English speaking friendly locals and low cost accommodations. Big enough but not too big. > Funny thing - I should end up in Tagaytay too !?! -- If needed Manila is close enough for a day trip - but not necessary to live there. A 24/7 Casino 4 - 24/7 McDonald's an Amusement Park Sky Ranch Picnic Grove many 7/11's & other 24/7 food choices - all offer plenty to do - anytime you want to do it !?! A gem of a small city with only 84,000 full time population. = Ideal for me ! - - - And did I mention the weather is quite cool & 'comfortable' @ 2000 feet elevation !?! -- What's not to like ? 🙏
@@chillnacho Not yet - but I'm not terribly unrealistic or expecting perfection. I've traveled extensively and lived for a couple years at a time in many places. Now I'm old frugal and thrifty not expecting a lot - except for some comfort and good food. Beautiful scenery and super friendly people offer a good place overall to perhaps reside & do some travel from there. Manila airport is not that far. 🤔
@@frankkluz9787 I'm in the same boat as you. Have you checked out Dumaguete or anywhere else around Negros Oriental? I was there years ago and it wasn't too bad. Affordable, airport, immigration department, decent western food. I was just talking to some Filipino friends and they said Tagayta gets kinda crowded with traffic and is more expensive than people are saying. The weekends get really busy. It was enough to make me think twice.
@@chillnacho Oh yea - too hot for me and Valencia is cooler up the mountain - but both are isolated from quality medical for serious issues. Only '''near''' Cebu or Manila will provide state of the art medical if you should need it. --- Personally I DON'T LIKE SWEATING ''ALL'' THE TIME ! = Tagaytay @ 2000 ft. elevation & cool fresh air breezes with that !!! Crowded on weekends - yes a bit more expensive yes. But a short distance away from the center prices are cheaper. Enjoy the 5 days / week & let the tourists have the weekends (?) we're retired and flexible ! No place is perfect all the time. -?- To each his own - for serious medical Manila access to St. Luke's is best by far. (think twice is good - act once for the best.)
Tagaytay locals don't buy their produce in Mahogany (too touristy). We prefer going to Tagaytay City Market or nearby towns to market like Mendez or Alfonso where everything is much cheaper.
Tagaytay traffic is getting horrendous by the day 🤯 Paakyat na sa NCR level For me, nearby towns (from Tagaytay) like Alfonso, Amadeo are also appealing
Tagaytay is a place good to live but there are other areas which the video didn't talk about. The cost of living is low in terms of rent and food but I won't recommend it for working adults without cars as it's harder to go around if you don't own one. Not as commuter friendly as other cities in CALABARZON region, plus the traffic on weekends even rush hours on weekdays is unbearable. The roads are too narrow for the volume of cars. It's also very near an active volcano which will directly affect your way of living if you'll ever relocate here.
Not a fair comparison.. Manila is a metro compared to a small city like Tagaytay... compare Tagaytay to BGC or Makati or Alabang or Baguio . Still not a fair comparison to the city of Manila..the iconic city, the seat of the government of the Philippines. ..no need for a comparison. Tagaytay could be lonesome because most residents stay only on weekends or holidays. And most have properties as second home. Tagaytay is also although far, can be affected by the activity of Taal volcano.
Just stumbled upon your video. Super impressed by the production quality of your video!
Thank you so much!

Did you go to Tagaytay yet? I'd be interested in hearing your experience.

I suspected as much - does it include ''rent'' being cheaper as well ? = Most important for me and my budget ! Looking for cheap. 🤗

Thank you!
Tagaytay is my home when I’m in the Philippines ❤🇵🇭 ❤. But don’t go to Mahogany market. It’s a tourist trap 😉.
Beautiful place! Oh I didn’t know tourist trap siya, I always loved eating bulalo and tawilis there hahah
@@RenzoMaano Believe me, there are others better places to eat bulalo. 😉 Fruits & plants cost more. Buy meat towards Alfonso/ Nasugbu.
