    The idea is good, and I admire your creativity... Just for your information, prescription lenses will be made to follow your pupil distance, (the distance from the center of one pupil to the center of your other pupil). The lenses on your eyeglasses follow this quite precisely +/- 0.5mm or so. Basically the center of the lenses you are wearing are meant to sit directly in front of your eyes for optimal visual acuity.
    By breaking the bridge and separating the lenses further apart, you are no longer looking through the center of the lens. The center of the lens will have been pushed outward on each side by the distance of the goggle... looks like about 2.5cm.
    While I'm sure this will function acceptably, it will also cause some distortion and may cause discomfort over longer periods of wear depending upon your own personal tolerance.
    If you are going to remake the lenses for this, your optician can easily take the new wider bridge into consideration and glaze the lenses appropriately.

      Thanks for the insight! I didn’t know that, but its interesting. I only wear them for 15 minutes or so.

      @@MaxMakerChannelDie geänderte Position der Linsen ist also kein Problem für kurze Zeit? Gut zu wissen.
      Die Linsen sind tatsächlich speziell für das Gestell erstellt.

    I would expect the index of refraction of water would change the effect of corrective lenses and make them unsuitable for underwater use?

    • @MaxMakerChannel
      @MaxMakerChannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I don’t think it makes a difference.

    • @BenMitro
      @BenMitro 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MaxMakerChannel I think you are right...the index of refraction is the same when light enters and when it leaves the lenses whether you use them in water or in air.

    • @albertmo3890
      @albertmo3890 ปีที่แล้ว

      The refractive index only matters if the front surface of the eyeglass lens is in direct contact with the water. In this case, it is not. The entire frame is sitting within the mask.
      In this scenario, water is in direct contact with the front surface of his diving mask, which has a front surface power of 0, it's a flat plano. Both F1 ad F2 (front and back surface) of the corrective eyeglass lens are still surrounded by air within the goggle, so it will work fine.
      Mr. Maker already said he doesn't feel any bad effects, but by increasing the distance between the corrective eyeglass lenses, he is inducing prism because the lenses are no longer sitting directly in front of his pupils.
      For a DIY it's acceptable, and he's not going to sue himself if there are any issues, so it's fine and quite creative.

    It's not a bad idea but...you cannot change the distance between the two lenses. It's not going to work in this way

      @@MaxMakerChannel ah sorry. But do you have headache after using it for a little longer? If not maybe it's for your particular sight problem, some time ago my optic made the center wrong of a couple of mm and I was not able to wear glasses for more than some minutes...
