Since around the mid 1990s, people found guilty must serve their sentence and then they are turned to the feds for deportation. By the way, once found guilty of a felony, there is no difference between legal or illegal, even a legal visa holder will lose it and be deported when coming out of prison. Unless, the whole thing happens in a ‘sanctuary’ turf where politicians have put the interest of criminals above that of working folk. Let's talk about what happens now. When an illegal gets caught committing a crime. Especially in this case one of the charges is a First Degree Felony and can carry a life sentence. He has to go through the court process completely before ICE then will deal with the ICE hold. So let's say he gets a plea agreement and is sentenced to 15 years hypothetically. He has to serve his time and upon release, ICE will then intervene and start the deportation process. Who do we think pays the Public Defender fee? All of the court costs? And to imprison said criminal for however long he is sentenced? The answer is simple. WE DO!

The absurdity of this entire situation blows my mind. Forget the fact that he just crossed on January 19 of this year and has already committed one of the most heinous criminal acts of our society. Forget the fact that his court date for entering the country illegally is 3 years away. Forget the fact that he cannot legally obtain a driver's license. Forget the fact that he cannot legally register a vehicle. Forget the fact that he is living in an apartment here in Palm Beach County which is higher than most places in Florida. Let's talk about what happens now. When an illegal gets caught committing a crime. Especially in this case one of the charges is a First Degree Felony and can carry a life sentence. He has to go through the court process completely before ICE then will deal with the ICE hold. So let's say he gets a plea agreement and is sentenced to 15 years hypothetically. He has to serve his time and upon release, ICE will then intervene and start the deportation process. Who do we think pays the Public Defender fee? All of the court costs? And to imprison said criminal for however long he is sentenced? The answer is simple. WE DO!
