    i was just at Kennywood last night. let me tell you, when i was younger, i was terrified of Noah’s Ark (back before all the black light renovations). but now, as a teenager with a passion for the dark, gritty, and macabre, i hate this new neon update. i would much prefer to be in that shaky elevator and looking down upon skeletons. i was thoroughly disappointed in the new updates.

      I totally get that. Being a dinosaur like I am, I remember Noah’s Ark pre-elevator. This Noah’s Ark setup Is closer to how it was pre-elevator and I think that was what they were going for. Having experienced both, I do like having the whale walk though back but the original tongue was way more pillow like. There is something missing without the elevator and the balance beams gone as I really liked them. I get that they wanted to go back to the original look but I’m not sure entirely sure it’s better off.

      This brings back memories I forgot about! Thanks for sharing! I am disappointed by the newer version as well! I feel like they should’ve left the elevator design+ skeletons! They already have 2 black light rides; they could’ve left that out of this one

    I live about 8 minutes from Kennywood, and I've been going every year ever since 1999. So much has changed around Kennywood, and this ride is no exception, although the renovation they did in 2016 really isn't that bad. I used to be scared of this ride when I was a kid, but I've grown to like it more and more as I've gotten older. I really miss the old "Elevator of Doom" that used to be at the intro of the ride. That gave it a bit more of a thrill, as well as seeing the skeletons underneath you as soon as you departed from the elevator. The "flood chambers" ending was so cool too, but I heard they removed that part of the ride back in 2010 or 2011 because there were a lot of leaking issues.

      Yeah I know the revision with the elevator and the bathysphere at the end really upset some of the purists. I didn’t mind that and thought it was a cool addition to it. The new layout is very similar to the original ride design but there is no real ending to the ride, not that there needs to be but it would be better if there was something at the end. I feel like there’s more they can do with it, but I’m guessing there will be no changes for a while. Thanks for watching!

    Im still not over the fact that they took out the log hammer, that was my baby, like literally, I go to Kennywood almost every year and since I was a tiny tiny child, there was no big rides that i was tall enough to ride, but the log hammer let me, an ant on it, and since it was usually empty, i always went on it, and it became my favorite ride, even now, in 2019 it still and always will be my favorite ride, the steel phantom is my second favorite.

      I completely understand and I did make a video of it’s last day in operation for memories sake, it’s worth checking out. I was pretty upset that did because Kennywood gave no real notice that they were closing it until the weekend they did. What I found out later was that the cost to repair the ride was worth more than the ride itself. It has fallen into disrepair (Kennywood’s fault) but that ride was already marked to be shut down and they closed it early because it would break down all the time. There were so many other rides in Kennywood that could have been scraped instead of that but that one was in the worst shape so that’s why it went. Yeah Log Jammer never had a long wait and was always great! Thanks for watching!

    So they took out the water thing at the end, and now I see they also took out the skeleton area. What a bummer! I'll take that over black light paint any day of the week!

      I think there was an effort to return Noah’s Ark back to what it was initially.
      So they removed the elevator and the bathosphere parts and brought back the whale and storage room portion. Some people loved the old, some people loved the new. Hard to say which one is better.

    Bro, Noah’s Ark is from the 1930’s!! The one at Kennywood is the last of its kind in the country!

      @TomWasHereOnYoutube  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yeah I didn’t even realize how old it was. I also didn’t realize that other parks ever had anything similar. Definitely has to be reaching historic landmark status soon here if not already. Thanks for the info and for watching!

      TomWasHere yep, Kennywood as a whole is a National Historic Landmark! A bunch of these Noah’s Ark rides were built around the world in the ‘30’s -‘40’s , and ours is only one of 2 left in the world, and the only one left in the United States! Really cool! Anyway, great video, I enjoyed it !

      I knew that Kennywood was but didn’t know if that distinction applied to individual rides as well because it should. Thanks again for the great info and glad you enjoyed it!!

      I am disappointed that they took-out the Log Jammer. It was "only" built in the 1970s, but was a fun ride. Not everyone wants to ride steel coasters that go 65 mph. I sure hope they continue to maintain Noah's Ark.

      I have a video on here from the last day the Log Jammer, and I remember being pretty angry with them removing the Log Jammer, but if you watch that video and I did fairly recently, the ride was looking pretty bad. Whether that was Kennywood not maintaining it properly or what, It didn’t seem like it had a long time left. The big rumor is that the cost to fix and overhaul all of Log Jammer’s problems would cost more than the ride itself. It sucks, because it should still be there, but it seems that this result was gonna happen anyway unfortunately.

    Now this is more like it. Way better than the crappy 1996 renovation.

      I noticed that people who grew up on the whale hate the elevator and people that grew up on the elevator hate the whale. There are advantages and disadvantages to both. One thing on the whale, the tongue is not squishy as it used to be, but I appreciate that they made it squish, but it’s not nearly as pillowy as it used to be and that’s my only gripe.

    I’m disappointed that Kennywood took all the best features away from the Noah’s Ark. I was fine with the whale tongue being in the middle of the ride (it was supposed to be a swamp or something) instead of at the beginning with an actual whale facade. The elevator, the archeological dig site underground, the metal hull of the ship caving in at the end (even though it never made much sense), the gorilla, the jet of air coming from the floor, and the spitting animals where always the best features. They will be missed. The ride is more classical now, but they didn’t really add anything exciting except the hilarious farting animals.

      Yeah, I can see and understand why Kennywood went to the traditional Noah’s Ark but there are definitely ways to improve it. I do miss the elevator version, even though it wasn’t really tied into Noah’s Ark, it had cool elements. I remember the old Noah’s Ark as well, the whale’s tongue used to be far more pillowy than the current version. I feel like Kennywood won’t make any more changes anytime soon.

    I found poop by the horse stable scene with the horse and zebra butts and the ride had to be closed for a few hours because of it

    • @TomWasHereOnYoutube
      @TomWasHereOnYoutube  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is that true? I just can’t see someone doing it and yet I guess I’m not shocked by it either.

    • @theboyscout0156
      @theboyscout0156 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      TomWasHere that is true, and it was funny but disgusting. Idk if it was real or fake but it was funny

    • @TomWasHereOnYoutube
      @TomWasHereOnYoutube  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just can’t see someone dropping their pants and pooping, if so it would have to have been a mighty quick poop, with those narrow hallways, no doubt someone is coming around that corner quick. Even someone with little shame would have second thoughts. Hahahahaha what a story, that’s awesome.

    • @theboyscout0156
      @theboyscout0156 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      TomWasHere idk how it got there, idk if it was real poop or not, I almost stepped in it but the ride was closed later because of it
