I have the Metal and just this past week got another metal gun . A CZ shadow 2 compact. With the compact they went with the Aluminum lower also vs the steel of the larger one. Cut a good 10oz off the weight over the full sized shadow 2.

Nice video. I picked up the 2.0 9mm on a whim last summer. It was suppose to be a range pistol for my wife who wanted something with a manual safety. I carried a Dan Wesson 9mm 1911 for a couple of years and the safety on the M&P feels natural to me. The 2.0 hasn't replaced my optic equipped VP9 but it does get it's fair share of carry time. I'm currently waiting to see if my first responder status will allow me to get my hands on the all black 2.0 Metal.

Good video showing the differences between the two but you should have weighed the light and done the math to see the real difference in the weights of the frames.
I'll have to watch how things go with these the next 6-7 years. That's how long it took the M&P 2.0 to finally land in CA, and have all the kinks worked out.

If they were seeing a particular data point significantly improve, or was it solely a cash grab. I don't care which one it is, because I'm more interested in the engineering reasons. I think we know which one it was, but still.

@@B_R_ the frame is what I'm referring to. The polymer frame was just over 10 oz and the metal was 2 oz heavier, hence the 20%. Not talking about the overall weight.
Great Video, Why I selected your video was the pistols optic (CORE) I am having a problem finding an optic to fit my M&P9L CORE probably the first edition. I have bought a vortex razor red dot and a Leupold Delta Pro and both do not fit. I even called Leupold yesterday and they do not make a plate for it lighter. I am not sure if the M&P9L has the same foot print as the new 2.0, do you have any info you could share?
The 1.0 and 2.0 have slightly different mounting plates. I know c&h precision makes a plate, but for rmr footprint optics only like the holosun and trijicon rmr. I would check midway usa or optics planet. I apologize, but I do not have any experience with the 1.0 all mine are are 2.0
I see the metal frame of striker fire pistols being a trend toward the future much like red dots and lasers were/are. This will be the gucci glock round two. As for me, I'm interested in this just because I like metal frames and the fact it's becoming readily available among other OEM's besides Sig, Canik, IWI, and aftermarket's is a good choice for consumers if they want it. Metal frames shoot flatter and are more rigid stock for stock vs. Polymer

Thank you! No, it hasn't rusted on me in the last year, and I doubt it will. Maintenance wise, they're the same. That being said, think of it like having a black versus white vehicle.
Aluminum does not rust like steel. It may have oxidation corrosion over time on BARE parts but this is pretty well covered. The frame will not rust like a steel one would sitting in a safe etc for a long time or even carrying.
How does the slide release compare between the two? As a lefty the detent on the polymer 2.0's makes it a non-starter but it looks like the metal ones don't have the detent.
That is correct. I found it somewhat easy. There are plenty of videos online that show you. Apex tactical has a really section part in their trigger installation video that step by step helps tremendously.
@HelloThere-ez6rb first, it's an iconic weapon. That being said, im not a fan of the grip. It was to wide for my liking. It felt very chunky in my hand. The second thing was hammer fired. I am not a fan of hammer fired guns. Last,the exposed barrel. I wasn't a big fan of that. Mostly the first two things though. I owned one for a couple years and ended up selling it to get a second m&p 2.0

I want my first .40 (despite the hate) and debating between berreta 96 or m&p 2.0 do you have a full size 5" or the 4" I'm going to see if the range has any of these. if I got m&p my next fuss is the 5" or 4" I hear the 5" almost has no extra benefit performance wise, or very smalll
@HelloThere-ez6rb yes, I have the 5", the 4.25", and the 4". I like the 4.25" best because it's full size. I'm a big fan of it and carry it daily. It is 100% personal preference though. The only thing I would say is test before buying, get something you can shoot, and would want to carry everyday.
I wish they add a compact with metal frame. Looking forward to a full review on the metal full size.

The metal version is not only beautiful but the gun shoots like warm butter!! Best gun I have ever shot and very happy I decided to purchase

They have both been amazing. I have a few thousand through both models at this point, and they perform flawlessly

2oz would only be 20% heavier if the polymer m&p weighed 10oz.
The metal is actually around 7-8% heavier, not 20%.

To me, they feel the same. The new 2.0s have a noticeably better extended slide release

They have the same trigger. They're both the new version with the upgraded flat trigger.

I get this Gucci designer thing when I see the polymer, for me no picattinny and some adherence to classic design, night train blueing,,,
I don't know about Gucci. Everyone has their preferences, but for me, im not buying a gun I can't attach a flashlight to.
