"Hey Jeff, can you help me with some rust?" "Ahem, yes mate, bring it over and we'll throw it up on my HOIST" [some time later...] "So where's this rust?" "There" (pointing to the only place on the car that will interfere with the hoist). Gah!!
Damn me. Why do I love cars so much? This, as I said in youe mom's MG video, would make a great addition to your stable. Picture the Porsche, the 680, the Alfa on one side; the MG, this BMW on the other side. Throw in a classic Mini to make it an even number, and we're done! Lol
Thank you soo much for helping out and repairing my 2002 Jeff 🙏 great catching up and seeing all the projects! If anyone wants to see more of this 02 check out my instagram @te986
Nice! Do you ever wonder if someone will look at the repair in the future and say: “someone has done a bodgy patch job here!” You should try to enscribe on the patch: ‘It isn’t perfect but it’s HomeBuilt’. 😊
Needs wax treatment from the inside, plus primer from spray can is NO NO on cars unless you doing butcher job. This repair was like someone doing it in front of a apartment building 🤣🤣
I hope you have seen it, but if not, you should check out project Binky by Bad Obsession Motorsport. I learned Lots from them and the build is still going after 5 years. Not saving you need it, but i think you will enjoy the show 😁
@@HomeBuiltByJeff don't Surprise me, found your channel a couple of days ago, and I seriously can't understand how you don't have more subscribers. Working through the 911 build first 😁
A chance to do some more sanding....can I visit with my rusty car? hehe...nice rust repair.see through plastic instead of cardboard is a good idea Jeff
You should have used some Eastwood Internal frame coating when you had it opened up as the 500mm tube could have been inserted through the small rust holes.
Wouldn’t let you anywhere near my 02. Wants a new sill on that not a flimsy patch. Bet the other sides just as bad. Sills are readily available & cheap.
Why is watching a professional rust repair so satisfying? 🇦🇺
Boy have I done that job a few thousand times in the last 37yrs.
Nice Jeff another oldie but goodie stays on the road😉😊👍👍
Love the 2002. That colour brings back memories too. My family had a 2800 growing up that dad and I rebuilt and painted the same green.
That exhaust sounds great, what'd you guys install?
2:45 Amen. When rust appear there it very often spells "new entire sill please"
You make it look super easy to tackle the rust area !

Yep!
Nicely done! It figures it would be right where the hoist arm would go. I was waiting for the BMW fun facts with Mrs Jeff?!?! lol

Sorry that was a lapse. I have added your instagram link in the description.
I got excited when I saw the thumbnail. I was thinking "Yes! Jeff got a 2002 to work on for the show"...for 8 minutes.
Well done. You make it look so easy.
There will be Lots more rust on the inside....

Isn't the bare backside of the welds going to rust again pretty soon? - I'd use some MIG brazing here, which is almost non-corrosive.

@@mancaveproductions00 truly is!
5 Years? Isn't that like your 911? :P
I have been a big supporter of Project Binky for a couple of years now. That is my favourite TH-cam channel for sure.

🤨 Seriously Jeff !!! you have that nice new lift and your laying on the floor... I like the clear plastic idea, that's cool...
Beautiful Beamer!!!!
Gorgeous car!
Oh man.. I wish jeff could help me out with my ford.. It has a tiny rust hole in the same spot as this bimmer.
Jeff, i am doing a restoration myself and i have a question. Do i need a dust mask when sanding body filler?
You should always wear a mask when you are creating dust, but it is not carcinogenic, and very few panel beaters I saw over the years wore masks.
That sounds great
My Father had an orange 2002 Tii, then a `80 E21 323i Alpina. But after all these rusty BMWs, he got a `82 911SC in 1987 until today. Without Rust...
How long did that repair actually take to do?
If you cut out the talking and filming, probably 2 hours work, if that.
You’re the best 👍
Way to help a guy out!
Nice job! Great video! : )
Nice BMW
