- Playas Del Este is Havana's nearest beach resort. Just a few miles from the City it is easily reached by bus or cab.
If you're wondering what to do in one day - Guanabo is the largest beach town along this strip. It is bright and colourful and has a good number of simple bars and restaurants. Guanabo beach itself is sandy and popular with the locals. We walked here in Guanabo and Havana at Christmas.
It's an obvious day trip if you're staying in the one of the local hotels such as Hotel Gran Caribe Club Atlántico, or Hotel Tropicoco (now Hotel MarAzul.)

Sono stato anche al hotel tropicoco diversi anni fa e mo sono trovato benissimo credo nel 2015

Great video, I went to that beach as a child. That red antique car in front of the Italian restaurant might be a 1939 Chevy 4 door Master Deluxe, the ornament on the trunk was used to advertise a V8 engine. Beautiful car.

Minchia la minuto 3.10 ho rivisto la casa dove sono stato la prima volta nel 1995, com'è cambiata la spiaggia, il mare se l'è mangiata...che ricordi, che nostalgia...

I hung out in Guanabo in Feb 2020..there is a big outdoor dance nightclub...with a stage..it starts out with a stage show..then everyone dances...it was a blast!!!

La Última vez K Estuve En Guaynabo Fue En el 2019 Y Está Bastante Destruida La Han Dejado Caer
Sí, es triste ver el edificio derrumbarse. Todavía lo pasamos de maravilla, la gente especial lo hizo así para nosotros.

Christmas celebrations were prohibited in Cuba until recently. In the late 60's Fidel Castro ordered all churches, temples and synagogues to close. I was there when one morning my mom and I went to Sunday mass as usual and the church had been closed the gate padlocked and its windows boarded.
Even before Castro, Cubans didn't celebrate Christmas in the way America does, we didn't have Santa Claus. We celebrated Christmas Eve as Holy Night "Noche Buena" that meant a big pig roast, drinking and dancing.
On January 6th we celebrated Christmas exchanged gifts. We didn't have Santa we had the Three Wiseman or the three magical kings, "los tres reyes magos." I never saw a Santa in Cuba till recently.

@@LivingWalks No not really, there were enough good times for good memories especially in my childhood. There are disturbing memories so I could see with my own eyes that it was not normal. Sabotages against Castro's government were common occurrence. I remember seeing the anti aircraft fire at night to the west of us being fired from somewhere in Havana to a "spy plane" is what they called it in Cuba. I was there an saw how it was all changing at a very fast pace but nothing beats the says I'd hide my bike under the train bridge at first without my parents knowing so I could take buses to Havana and other near by cities but mostly Havana. In our town we rode our bikes all over the place there were still a lot of fruit trees that weren't being picked by people to sell them mangos, Anón, sour sop, zopote or níspero which was like small but round mameys, sugar cane we used to chop down, peel and cut pieces and chew on it, a lot of great things that later necessarily disappeared
