Not gonna lie, the videos where you plan homeschool stuff are some of my absolute favorite videos. It’s a so interesting! I feel like whenever I hear about homeschooling it’s about fundamentalists who aren’t really teaching their children. It’s really cool to see homeschool done right. Much love!
I homeschooled my daughter she absolutely loved it. 6th grade through highschool. She learned a lot plus she made a lot of friends. She developed close friendships.
I was folding the huge pile of clothes while watching you today. As a teaching assistant in a primary school I am so jealous of the way you are able to select the resources and topics that interest your children and the way you feel they would access the learning best. If only I could do that for every child I work with it would make such a difference. You have very lucky children as you are one very special mum and teacher xx
Bless you. ♥️ Ohhh yes … there is absolutely nothing like being able to personalize and curate [a child’s education] with their unique learning style and *interests* (wherein learning truly happens!) in mind. I WISH public school did / could do that. Very few kids “fit” into the Government’s “box,” in my opinion… and even fewer thrive in it. Bless you for noticing and caring enough to wish on behalf of the kids you work with. Let that help you make the change / difference you long to see…. ✊♥️
I’m at the other end of homeschooling, and I had to laugh when you said the kids would be, ‘cutting up organs’. We used the My Body Book, and LOVED it! I also love the fact that you mentioned kids having play time after coop for ‘an hour or so’. That’s more time than kids get in public school. Your journey is such an encouragement to me. Keep up the good work. 🤗
I drove to the pharmacy. Meal prepped salad for two days. All while listening to you brainstorm on Science unit studies. I’m here for old school you tube. YES. This homeschool Mama could not be high-fiving you any harder right now…mentally of course because, internet and germs lol. #2022#homeschoolvibes#crushingit
Lovely video. I was a 3rd grade teacher. For the moon you can get black paper and use white chalk and have them draw and label the phases of the moon. Waxing, waning, new moon, etc. just a fun idea. 🌙
I finally found time to watch while relaxing before bed. I'm nearly an empty nester and would be tomorrow if my child could get a house for themself. Our house prices just keep rising and being single is a disadvantage. I hope when you're teaching your kids about money you include the necessity of saving, not using easy credit (which winds up being anything but!) and explain general financial terms in the future.
While watching you, I pulled up information on a new plant/shrub I just bought (Boomerang Lilac) and purchased a lifetime of Babbel - I want to learn Norwegian and Spanish - Norwegian because my family roots are from Norway and Spanish because I live in California and I think it will be helpful in conversations. I’m also 60 years old with no kids at home (but I do see my kids and grandkids all the time) but watching you organize your upcoming month makes me remember when my kids were young. I did not homeschool but I always took a few minutes each Sunday to go over the kids school and sports schedule - Baseball, Basketball, Softball (and here softball is a year-round activity…no wonder I was always tired!) along with all the school activities and homework…always the dreaded homework!! 😩
My son is a cook in a restaurant. He doesn't live at home anymore, but does his laundry here. I use vinegar in his work clothes and it does wonders on the grease. Amazing!
I’m watching this after finishing breakfast and am sipping a cup of tea in bed. Today I’ll be tidying up a bit prior to having my folks for Thanksgiving tomorrow. 😄
My crew and I got home from co-op and a park day and I was beat- they had free time and I napped for 90 minutes on the sofa . My alarm to start my late afternoon-evening home activities went off and I turned to your channel to visit with a friend while I moved back into mom leadership for the evening- we got dressed for bed / ordered Groceries and menu planned while dinner cooked. I’m also planning on weekly wrap ups with each child (baby , 2nd, 4th, 6th,& 7th graders) & having them put away their clean laundry before bed. It’s a goal
Ps. I enjoyed this. Tidied up my home while my household pearl (calling her cleaning lady would sound derogatory to me) cleaned the house behind me, together tackling 6 hours of housework together in less than 3 hours! My home office is a mess and yes, I also need to do my stack of doom a.k.a. paper. I totally would enjoy a work-along home office and paper tackling video 💪
I was getting ready for my day AND clearing the shower drain while watching today. I did my reset in the classroom Friday since it was a plan day then at home I wrote 2 weeks of lesson plans, converted our English and Spanish newsletters for the year to pdf so they can be sent to the printers, I vacuumed the entire house, cleaned windows, cleared off the dining room table, spent time with my mom and in laws and put my fall decorations outside (which then lead to asking my son to vacuum my car). Off to school now
Thanks for letting us see your process and hear you think out loud! Nice to see how other homeschooling families approach various subjects. I’m finishing up meal prep while watching - hard boiled eggs, bread, etc.
I'd returned from getting somethings done at my mother's, and it was a difficult morn. Rooting through cabinets of a 95 year old, pulling items for donation that she'll allow. Never able to do all I'd like to.. Laundry going here now, working on Bible study, planning dinner in my mind. Monday, always loaded. Enjoy your video!
Watched you sitting in my chair after getting in from work, I live in the UK so nice to watch what others are up to whilst I am chilling from a day at work x
Glad you said that, Erica. I’m resting on the couch. We just drove back from a short holiday and I’ve unpacked everything already. Now to sit and catch up with TH-cam.
I am resting while I watch your video while snuggling with the cat. It is my sons 14th Birthday today and I just finished making it super nice for him and am enjoying a cozy break.
I enjoy your videos. I need to go for surgery sometime, and when I need to take a breather I watch your videos. I'm in the southern hemisphere, so we are into Spring, and spring cleaning is the order of the day. I keep two old wash baskets ready so that when I declutter it goes into the bin to be donated. When you said easy peasy. It reminded me of my daughter who teaches 2nd language in China. She taught her children, "easy, peasy, lemon sqweezy." One child retorted it's hard lemon hard.😊
The vinegar smell goes away. It doesn't stay. You are a really great teacher. I wish I had a teacher like you growing up. I had mean old ones all through elementary.
Drinking coffee enjoying your planning process but thanking my lucky stars I sent both my kids off to public school! They are now early 40s with excellent careers.
@@EricaLucasLoves I homeschooled all four of ours - they’ve all graduated from college and our youngest (and her homeschooled husband) are now working on their doctorates degrees! She has a 4.0 in doctorate college. Enjoy your homeschooling journey!!!! ❤❤ Your kids will profit beyond the school part of it; but you and hubby will too.
Watching you plan makes me miss teaching. I used to teach Special ED before I had my girls- (self-contained in a private school ), Kindergarten inclusion, infants and toddlers and then preschool when my youngest went to Kindergarten. I miss preschool the most.
I wanted to mention that last month, you made a video about setting intentions for the month. I followed your advice, and it greatly helped me focusing on things that mattered the most for me. So I watched your video gathering everything I'll need to do the same for October 😀 Thx a lot !
Finding something for dinner….when it gets cool outside then the oven bakes the meat and leftovers are thrown on microwaved potatoes until the cheese melts for one more minute…you get stopped and started often but it gets me thru a sometimes boring chore😊❤
Honestly, I was vegging with my lasagna dinner 😄 … whilst some laundry was drying. It was also our co-op day today, we took a long drive to p/u some family from a train station, and I made the decision to recycle some “like, really good” cardboard boxes that I didn’t *want* to let go of. So, yeah … I felt I deserved to relax for a little bit. 😅 Thank you for the inspiration - and the peaceful hang out sesh! 🙋🏻♀️♥️
I'm resting today, 10/2 seen nephew (36 yrs old) in hospital, severe pneumonia. Slow improvement. But something feels off. They said his brain is fine, but he could barely raise his right arm. but that was good cause he would have ripped his oxygen mask off. And of course he hates the feeding tube. My sis (74) just called & told me they changed his mask to something more comfortable, forgot to ask if his BP was down. It was 187 /119. 😬. they were hooking him up to bp meds when we left. i have to take bus, then train to get to sis. last part had to transfer to bus, they were working on train electrical system. left at 7:45 AM, got home 6:30. PM long day. ((Hugs to Ranger)) such a sweet doggy. 🥰🥰😘
Sue Wolfe- I was sitting just enjoying listening and remembering back when I home schooled. My kids are all grown with their own children now and the youngest homschools their children! Are you still house hunting? I haven't heard an update in a while. Keep the videos coming! 👏👍❤️
Thanks for keeping me company and reminding those of us that the magic planning fairy is not coming - it’s you mama it’s you. But the rest of the week feels like a gift that I can enjoy when it’s done. Have a great October
Hi Erica, love spending time with you too, I live in uk and love watching your videos with your organisation processes as you explain what you are thinking. I have just had a flu jab this morning and relaxing on the couch watching you before my hair appointment this afternoon. Keep up the good work your fabulous, big hugs from Tracy
I’m crying couse i had yet another bad night. With a sickness that makes me tired it just to much. So hearing you say that resting is important 💪🏻 Struggeling what to do, it is hard at the moment, struggeling with a difficult familie and taking care of my grandma. Also taking care of my familie (5.5 and 1.5), my house (letting thing go and get dirty, cause its alright) and trying not to forget to take care of myself
I was eating a 🍩 while waiting for my WM pick up order to be ready. My husband and I just got back from dropping one vehicle off for service & Krispy Kreme is next to the mechanic's garage! Later today, I'm helping my teen daughter deep clean and declutter bookshelves, a dresser, & under her bed. I'm just there for moral support and to get trash bags or new donation boxes as needed.
While your video played I got ready for bed, then spent the last 10 min of it cleaning up a problem pile. It was a nice way to spend last of my evening!
You are a good homeschooling mom. I am way past that stage of life but love hearing your updates. Currently having breakfast and getting dressed while watching. 👍🏻
It's also fun to listen to O Fortuna in conjuction to space study (the lyrics refer to the waxing and waning of the moon)--- kids can listen for the repetition in the music, and the way the dynamics (loud/soft) ebb and flow, just like the waxing and waning of the moon! Au Clare De La Luna is a gorgeous piece of music about looking for a pen by the light of the moon. Great for the music itself, but also for talking about the root "luna" for moon, and just fun to listen to while, say, drawing moon phases. (A deeper study can connect O fortnua and astrology to Greek and Roman mythology, in case you happen to talk about constellations and happen to to read Greek/Roman myths...)
I did a little bit of this and that while listening, fed the cat and washed an apple to cut up later and working on getting my own supper going and finished taping the cooking directions for some lentils onto the glass jars I’m storing them in etc. :-).
I am rolling beeswax candles for a fall craft fair this Saturday. We did 6 lessons yesterday to make up for the lack of work today. I wanted to tell you that we are loving the teaching texts dvd roms for pre algebra, so much so that I bought Algebra 1&2 and geometry, lol. I know that your oldest is pretty quick at Math, so he may be on to pre algebra soon. Also, it will give you a little freedom. Loving this homeschool year, 8th grade.
Since my move from one house to another. 75 percent went to storage. ( expensive for monthly storage) . Bringing boxes to the garage and putting away. Right away. Had temporary garage doors. ( new house) you would think they would finish the house before building more new ones. From 3 storage sheds ( renting) down to 1. :) Getting there. It’s been a year. Thank you for your motivation. And for not planting a bad seed to get viewers. Had a bad experience a month ago. Be careful who you collaborate with. Blessings
I am trying to get caught up with older youtube videos I have missed. I am also doing paperwork as I watch. Oh, and drinking tea and eating a cookie. I can multitask with the best of them. ha ha
You might benefit from a sorter laundry basket with two or three sections. That way your laundry will be presorted. It may not seem like it but it really does save a lot of time by eliminating having to sort through a huge pile.
I'm putting together salmon burgers for dinner. I like to let the mixture sit for awhile before I make them. I just vacuumed and made my bed. I work 7-2 so I get home first and like this time to reset my brain and do a few things alone, before my wife gets home at 5.
Good morning Miss Erica. You asked what we're doing as we join you in your weekly reset... I'm lying in bed recovering from hip surgery feeling bummed that I can't get up and act on all the inspiration you've sparked, but all in good time. When you were questioning those two solar system books - the ones you wondered why you'd kept - something came to mind that I'd like to share. I hope I can word this correctly... deciding to not decide right now is a decision in and of itself. ..make sense? Having said that, I'm so proud of you for having such a tidied area that keeping those books for another however long won't cause you any trouble. You're a rock star! Hugs from the southern California desert, MK 🤗🏜🤗
I am watching my 16 mo old and 3 1/2 year old grandson’s all day because my daughter had to go to a Dr. Appt. 3 hrs away. I did get dishes done and shampooed one area of my house.
Hi Erica! Mondays are my grocery shopping, food prep, meal prep day. Done with all that, and I am watching you while rotating and restocking my prepper pantry! You always inspire! 😘
I’m drinking Irish Breakfast tea out of my mug that makes me happy. I will be starting to pack for my cross country trip to Ocean Shores, WA to visit with my son, daughter in law and 17 month old granddaughter! I will be there for a month! ❤
Thank you Erica! The mug is awesome. The handle fits my fingers just right, so I can “hug” it. It has just the right amount of heft and balance and holds the ideal amount of tea. Obviously I find this all very important! 🤣❤️
Right this minute I am having a puppy snuggle break between rounds of laundry, dishes, and packing up the section of the house that is getting remodeled in November.
Btw, that human body project is awesome!! Think I might do that with my kids too. We are using apologia for science , their swimming creatures book, but I think they should be learning about their bodies too, this would feel fun and not like extra work
Erica, You might keep some of the books with more info than just grade levels. I say this because I homeschooled my 2 kids for a total of 12 years. They both ended up being very intelligent, as needed more information than just the basics for that grade level. Their quest for more information kept me on my toes, looking for more advanced resources.
Omg your homeschool planning was so fast! I swear that would take me hours or days to figure out. Which is why we don't homeschool. That, and I'd probably loose my patience trying to get my kids to pay attention. I'm spending this hour resting in bed. I have a cold.
Firstly, Erica - you make such great personal and down to earth videos! I love them. Today I watched whilst getting ready for my first day in a new job - thank you for the distraction, grounding me enough to allow me to eat - despite my nerves. You are a 🌟
I was sitting on the couch eating my lunch. I love these videos. It gets me motivated to tackle all of my things. I wish we had a co-op like you do! That sounds amazing. I loved the way you learned about the body. I’m definitely going to have to do that.
Really loved this video. was lying on the couch remembering what a wonderful time our family had homeschooling. Our plan was similar to what you do. I loved that the kids were able to take what they learned then go and play freely and be creative. The legos would become pyramids, or the trampoline a spaceship, all sorts of wonderful things. I do miss those times, but really enjoyed hanging out with you today 💕
We got the key for new house and have been there cleaning. So today I have officially a rest day, because with my fibromyalgua if I keep on pushing in a few day I can hardly walk. So while watching, I indeed am just sitting on the couch. But after this I still have to pack for the next load (we move most of the smaller stuff by bike, since we do not have a car). And I also did an old box of decluttering. So yeah, 'officially' a rest day, but in reality... 😅
Weirdly I have always remembered the order of the planets. I said to my self (phonetically) emvem jaysun and it stuck in my head. So MVEMJSUN, with contentious Pluto on the end!
I was starting supper and doing some Tidying in the kitchen. I’ve really been enjoying your videos and appreciate the insight! I also homeschool my kiddos and need to look through my current resources to see what we can do. We’re unpacking from our LAST MOVE EVER and still lots of books to unpack. But…. I bought a shower mesh caddy for all of our bathrooms which has been game changer and I appreciate that pro-tip💗
Thanks for keeping me entertained while I did the dishes! I'm really excited to find out what you do with your cookbooks. They have been bugging me on your behalf😅
Hi Erica, it is awesome the effort you put into your children's lesson plans for the week. Will you ever be sending your children to school??? What happens when the children begin work that you cannot help them with?? We do not home school here in Australia. To be honest I was sitting on the couch eating dinner.
I enjoyed this very much. Even tho my kids are grown and gone. Actually expecting our first great grand in March! I watched it from bed, 5:30 am here. But you got me thinking about my day. Need to prep for my first stitching evening with my sister in law on Tuesday! Fun! You got my motor started. Have a great day!!
October is a great month to see Saturn, Jupiter, and Mars in the night sky. I love that you belong to a co-op. It gives your children time to be sociable, half the reason public school exists in the first place, in my opinion.
Sometimes we don't need the entire packet of info, but maybe a page or two would come in handy, as it may not be covered in any of the books being used. At the school that I work at, we use CrashCourse videos and Mystery Doug science videos a lot. They are free subscriptions.
Not gonna lie, the videos where you plan homeschool stuff are some of my absolute favorite videos. It’s a so interesting! I feel like whenever I hear about homeschooling it’s about fundamentalists who aren’t really teaching their children. It’s really cool to see homeschool done right. Much love!

See if you can get “The Space Train” next time you’re at the library - my 6 yr old boy LOVES this story!!
Doing my planning.... Paused you, X hours later I got to finish watching 😄
Ps. I enjoyed this. Tidied up my home while my household pearl (calling her cleaning lady would sound derogatory to me) cleaned the house behind me, together tackling 6 hours of housework together in less than 3 hours!

I did a little bit of this and that while listening, fed the cat and washed an apple to cut up later and working on getting my own supper going and finished taping the cooking directions for some lentils onto the glass jars I’m storing them in etc. :-).
I wish you had home schooled me! You make everything soooo interesting!
I’m sitting in the couch holding my 4 week old baby 🥰
I’m a Kindergarten teacher, I planned my next two weeks while watching 🥰
I’m on my lunch break, eating homemade pumpkin soup
Yum!!!
I’m tidying my boys room as I listen to you plan haha love your channel. Your voice actually soothes me when I listen to any one of your videos 💛
I’m going to wash dishes while my computer finishing exporting photos for a client gallery 😊
Getting there. It’s been a year.
Thank you for your motivation. And for not planting a bad seed to get viewers. Had a bad experience a month ago.
Be careful who you collaborate with.
Blessings
Love the hair clip part ✨😜
I am trying to get caught up with older youtube videos I have missed. I am also doing paperwork as I watch. Oh, and drinking tea and eating a cookie. I can multitask with the best of them. ha ha
You might benefit from a sorter laundry basket with two or three sections. That way your laundry will be presorted. It may not seem like it but it really does save a lot of time by eliminating having to sort through a huge pile.
I'm getting ready for bed. Feet up and relaxing.
I did laundry (4 loads) yesterday. Today was floors and lunch with our grown son, just because. ☺️ yes, now i am setting on couch🙄
Ate dinner and now crashed on the bed while the kid is playing with building blocks... Worked really hard today 🙂
Cool to watch you be the best parent!
Hi Erica! Mondays are my grocery shopping, food prep, meal prep day. Done with all that, and I am watching you while rotating and restocking my prepper pantry! You always inspire! 😘
I came up with a Daily and Weekly Chore Chart Checklist for the kids!
Woohoo!
I’m drinking Irish Breakfast tea out of my mug that makes me happy. I will be starting to pack for my cross country trip to Ocean Shores, WA to visit with my son, daughter in law and 17 month old granddaughter! I will be there for a month! ❤
I love a mug that actually sparks joy! Safe travels!
Thank you Erica! The mug is awesome. The handle fits my fingers just right, so I can “hug” it. It has just the right amount of heft and balance and holds the ideal amount of tea. Obviously I find this all very important! 🤣❤️
@@annepeck1111 I love a good mug. My creepy mug for Halloween is that mug for me!
Right this minute I am having a puppy snuggle break between rounds of laundry, dishes, and packing up the section of the house that is getting remodeled in November.
Btw, that human body project is awesome!! Think I might do that with my kids too. We are using apologia for science , their swimming creatures book, but I think they should be learning about their bodies too, this would feel fun and not like extra work
Cleaned out my bedside table and starting on our work/school desk!🎉
Erica, You might keep some of the books with more info than just grade levels. I say this because I homeschooled my 2 kids for a total of 12 years. They both ended up being very intelligent, as needed more information than just the basics for that grade level. Their quest for more information kept me on my toes, looking for more advanced resources.
I watched this video while I was on my commute
Omg your homeschool planning was so fast! I swear that would take me hours or days to figure out. Which is why we don't homeschool. That, and I'd probably loose my patience trying to get my kids to pay attention.
I'm spending this hour resting in bed. I have a cold.
Firstly, Erica - you make such great personal and down to earth videos! I love them. Today I watched whilst getting ready for my first day in a new job - thank you for the distraction, grounding me enough to allow me to eat - despite my nerves. You are a 🌟
Could be fun to play Holst Planets (about 45min long in full) in the background as they create something space related, like that model you have :)
I am cleaning bathrooms as I listen!
Emptied dishwasher, and now I am working on the October calendar.
Listening while taking a walk!
I cleaned out my fridge and pantry so I am ready to do my monthly shopping
Starting my day. Laundry &making my coffee.
Nice! Do you do a load a day or is it laundry day for you?
@@EricaLucasLoves Laundry day. Thanks for the company!
@@lorriewittig9066 thank YOU for the company!
Oh that tricky fake rest. Basically you stopped the busy but kept going. Congrats on the move!
I was making lunch. Preparing what to start cleaning up to get ready for painting the house.
Weirdly I have always remembered the order of the planets. I said to my self (phonetically) emvem jaysun and it stuck in my head. So MVEMJSUN, with contentious Pluto on the end!
I was starting supper and doing some
Tidying in the kitchen.
I decanted the last stuff from todays grocery order, emptied the dish rack, did some dishes and then had a cup of tea :)
Love Usborne books! Watching this video and winding down for the day
I was just relaxing and watching your video. Ty :)
I'm drinking my morning coffee and I'm the ONLY ONE AWAKE 😂
Nice Connie! Love that your comment is about what matters most. Time with family and new babies in the family!
Love this and learning more to be more organized
