Definitely agree with this (although this video is pretty old but possibly helpful for anyone who has a cat problem too). Cats are not outdoor animals and if you wanna keep them as pets it’s super important to keep them inside or make an outdoor enclosure for them! I absolutely hate when cats come into my yard, some people have other pets such as birds or rodents that might be outside in their yards sometimes and I’ve seen many pets killed because of people not keeping their cats inside so it is pretty annoying, there’s also the matter of the cats shitting everywhere on someone else’s property (personally been in trouble from my realestate agent before because they thought we had a cat from all the poop outside but it was actually from someone else’s cat, actually had the same issue with a dog too). The more important matter is the native wildlife!! Birds, possums, lizards, snakes, invertebrates and so many more native animal populations are depleting pretty rapidly due to people letting their cats outside. It’s super depressing when these animals are supposed to be here because they’re native and cats should not, but they are killing so many of them 😔 I’d never hurt a cat but sometimes when people don’t listen and think their entitled asses can let their destructive animals roam freely around the place, I just get cat traps and take the cat to the pound until the owners learn to keep it inside, pound fees are super expensive but sometimes it’s the only way people will learn. Sorry for rambling and this comment isn’t supposed to be rude but I really hope more people see this and consider doing the right thing and keeping your cat indoors or in an enclosure!
You shouldn't let your cats outdoors in the first place. Instead give them a catio or cat pen you can make them or buy them and fill it with cat safe plants. This way the cats get to go outdoors but they won't leave your yard and keeps them safe. Alternatively you can harness train your cats and take them outside.

Feral cats kill over 1 billion native animals per year, and are considered the biggest threat to Australian wildlife. Each cat euthanized is 300 animals saved.
Diamond eclipse the difference is a lion is a part of the local ecosystem and a cat is not. Cats are invasive species in most everywhere. They are devastating to native populations. I love cats as much as the next person, but they really should be kept inside, for the sake of the environment.
Australia is one of those countries that is nice to visit but not my cup of tea to move to e.g id like to go on holiday there to see the opera house and stuff, but f moving there, especially if you get a house in the outback/suburbs
The bamboo tubes for the bees generally aren't very good because the bee species really need a particular consistent diameter of tube. This may explain why a bunch of your tubes had no eggs / larvae in them.
We have five cats, none of which are allowed outside without me accompanying them on a leash and harness. The cats, not me. I think it should be a bylaw that if people are going to let their cats out freely, they should have to wear a collar with a bell to at least warn wildlife that they are around. Your neighbours are total ignorant dords. Edit: I feel obligated to thank y'all for all the likes! ^u^ I hope those who have read my comment have also taken the time to read some of the replies, because it's really not such a straight-forward fix as collar= everybody wins.
Sadly, bells have little to no effect. There was a survey they conducted in England, where 700 people submitted records of their cat's kills. I'll find it for you
Also i heard cats can strangle themselves with their collars while they're sneaking around bushes and things like that. I'm not too sure about that though.
I have three cats, only one likes to go outside. He wears a bell colloar that can snap up if he gets couaght on anything. Thankfuly he is a bad hunter and the only thing he's killed are browm anoles which are invasive in my area to begin with.
In my area if a cat is out of it's yard it gets taken to the pound. New people with cats learn pretty quickly to get a run or keep them indoors. There's one cat no one catches bc it sits on this rock every day and doesn't move, it might be dead, but I aspire to be like him
I find this animal videos weirdly calming. The flat monotone accompanied by cute lizard pics and birds gathering in ritual circles is somehow enough to convince me the world isn’t fucked. And to make me consider moving to Australia. That’s some kind of PR miracle.
You can set up a few UVB lamps for the skinks so they can have some faux sunlight during winter. Just set them up by the pond and they'll be happy and healthy. Maybe you can get a large algae eater fish in there. Common plecos grow up to a foot long, so maybe not that big, but bristlenose and clown plecos grow to about 5 inches. Big enough to not be a target for skinks.
Lobe well the dog would probably also try to catch and eat the small animals, I don’t know if you’ve ever had a dog but they love chasing things and if they catch a small animal they will kill it
Dell12 16 dogs are much less proficient hunters and are less likely to attack other animals (depending on the breed) hence why you can have a dog and a cat with a lot less training than say a cat and a rat.
I used to feed my dog in our garden, by throwing his dry food around so he spent some time eating it. The magpies around us found out about this, and two of them teamed up. One distracted my dog by making him chase him around while the other stacked dog food in its beak before flying to a safe branch to eat. Then some crows found out and teamed up with the magpies... It was really fun watching, but sadly we had to move away from the birds. Just a little story your comment reminded me about:))

I can’t help but think how much of a good heart he has to be so loving and comfortable with animals.
Mightve just got tired of the goddamn cockroaches tbh
Darn dude if it wasn’t for those cats you could have a lot more content
If I saw a huntsman spider in my house I’m moving out the country
I'm never going to Australia, thank god we only have small black scorpions where I live...
Huntsmen are chill, they just hang out on the roof eating bugs. I consider them room mates
Where I'm at we get Brown Recluse spiders all over the place. These damn things will rot your flesh off. I need some of these lizards.
As an Australian they are actually really small I'm not luing
Man you trained lizards wild skinks to be comfortable in your house to the point they return seasonally you're awesome man :D this is what humans are meant to do with their lives right here :D
It's sad how cats are such a danger to australian wildlife and yet people still let their cats roam around and don't bother at all to keep the cats inside...
that's true - like I wouldn't let my cats out, sure, they'd run away from fire but what if they get trapped?
Feral cats kill over 1 billion native animals per year, and are considered the biggest threat to Australian wildlife. Each cat euthanized is 300 animals saved.
Australia has such a high variaty of cool species why would you get a boring cat?
I have 2 cats but they're only allowed out during the day
There are some absolute madlads who SHOOT the cats because of how much danger they pose to the ecosystem.
I watched one of this guys videos and now im obsessed.
Big Mac it's always that comedic timing and humor that gets you from nowhere, it's golden.
Cats are cute and all, but they're so devastating for wild life like birds, lizards, and rodents. They should be kept inside imo
I got a cat to kill rodents
@@ahmedmahgoub85 fair enough, but many places where cats have been introduced to get rid of pests it goes far beyond getting rid of just pests
@@DemMedHornene a lion kills more gazelles a year then a cat eats birds and lizards a year what makes them so diffrent?
Diamond eclipse the difference is a lion is a part of the local ecosystem and a cat is not. Cats are invasive species in most everywhere. They are devastating to native populations. I love cats as much as the next person, but they really should be kept inside, for the sake of the environment.
@@kaylie5282 idk I just feel like keeping a cat inside for the rest of its life is a debuff to its mental state
Im definitely never going to australia.
Australia is one of those countries that is nice to visit but not my cup of tea to move to

id like to go on holiday there to see the opera house and stuff,
but f moving there, especially if you get a house in the outback/suburbs

@@Rotsar909 for cats they have "snap" collars that will snap off if enough tension is applied to it for this reason.
I have three cats, only one likes to go outside. He wears a bell colloar that can snap up if he gets couaght on anything. Thankfuly he is a bad hunter and the only thing he's killed are browm anoles which are invasive in my area to begin with.
@@caninecritic9170 Aw, man, really? That sucks. ono I'd watch that if you can find it.
There are machines on the market that produce extremely high-pitch noises to ward off cats, might work in your situation.

The cat thing infuriates me to no end.
Carlos Colon yeah they should stop destroying his yard. To bad that water didn’t work
@@chbrski2091 yeah also the owners should keep their cats inside/ have some sort of playground thing for them that they cannot escape from
Mistrex yeah they can let their cats outside some but the least they could do is watch them to make sure they don’t venture into the neighbor’s yard
Just throw the entire cat away
In my area if a cat is out of it's yard it gets taken to the pound. New people with cats learn pretty quickly to get a run or keep them indoors. There's one cat no one catches bc it sits on this rock every day and doesn't move, it might be dead, but I aspire to be like him
lol in America we just burn the house if we see spiders like that.

I couldn’t live with those huntsmen in my house. Get a dog to keep cats out of your garden
@@IDA-mf8om that's fucking awesome.
@@Dell-ol6hb So just buy more cats to deal with the dog
Let’s be honest we all got so much joy from the lizards coming back
The absolute size of those spiders is precisely why I could never ever live in Australia.
Stay clear of Tennessee and Georgia, USA as well, then. :}
I dislike the millipedes more than the big wolf spiders, though, as they get in the house and will crawl on me T_T lol
So when I spot on, I grab my needle-nose pliers and cronch them up! 🤘
I love the shots where you pan around and then up to reveal a huntsman lmao
For winter you should get the lizards a heating lamp so they can come more often in your house
This man is gonna have a Karen at his house when he uses a cat trap is save his glorious ecosystem of a yard. Phhh dumb Karen they never learn. And if cats are left unchecked they will take over the plant, I’m glad to see there are people like I did a thing helping boost magpie populations and save the innocent lizards in Australia.
