I actually picked this game up recently & have been playing it myself but was hard to understand some of the mechanics to it. Watching you play thru ur campaign has helped me tons. Thank you for ur video & I will continue to watch these videos, of this game. Loving it so far :)
@@lewisburrow3946 debatable Vikings looks better costume wise but butchers the history. Last kingdom is very true to the books which themselves are historically accurate (obviously books and show have creative licence)
If it wasn't hard it wouldn't be you I know your going to show them the error of their ways and put all the Saxons to the Axe and sword. Disloyalty will not be tolerated ohhh sweet revenge
I think there should be some bonuses for your ruler owning an estate. Like for example, more income per turn, better replenishment rates, more movement range? And that's only if the ruler owns an estate. So as long as an army (friendly) is in an estate owned by you, you gain more replenishment and more movement range. Sounds like a cool idea to me... Another idea would be..if you own too many estates, the loyalty of your vassals' decrease (this is so it's not too op). Like if you agree!
Haha, I thought I was the only one! His videos are great and I do enjoy the history he talks about but it always knocks me out as well. Keep up the great vids though Surreal!
Surreal, bit of a Medieval history note here. The Idea that many locations during the time were relatively unshaped by human hands is a bit erroneous. After thousands of years of habitation, timbering, farming, and other human activity in the area. Even the pre-Columbian Americas were shaped by their inhabitants, as we are finding out more and more that what Europeans thought were virgin forest or untouched land was actually a landscape specifically shaped for hunting or foraging by various peoples. The same applies to Europe.
In addition, the English were using a three field crop rotation at the time, which meant that they needed a lot more land cleared for farming that later four field systems would require to feed their people.
OMG! Looks like your King have sunglasses on xD haha GoGo Danish Dynamite Btw. If you want to have anyone killed xD Dont pay for it xD Just send them out to battle and die
I think I am of the opinion of a good amount of people in that I'm not terribly excited for this game especially in the current Total War climate. But unlike others I actually want to give this game a chance. I'd much rather be wrong and this ends up being a great or even amazing total war game. There are already good points: 1. The art style is wonderfully creative like the little movies in Warhammer 2's Vortex Campaign 2. I really like how they handle provinces now, it's somewhat like Crusader King's 2 with a major capital and then specialized minor settlements under its dominion. 3. First impression tells me the music is pretty good. 4. Correct me if I'm wrong but the game actually booted up and isn't freaking out which given Rome 2, initially, is really saying something, So I want to give this game a chance especially since the things that worked here could at least contribute to making Three Kingdoms an amazing game.
Ambushing is a bit odd, the lack of forced march I'm okay with. AI would often use it to escape, though Warhammer 2 had a decent balance on it, I think. Or at least they did it less.
yeah and no unit formations and no ai and on and on and on. you see all that stuff just makes the game too complicated. what we really want and need is a return to the arcade games of the mid 1980s. move the joystick forward and press that one button occasionally. why? i really dont know. maybe the profit margin gets bigger the more simplistic the game?
man, i only fear that the cheese tactic will be have a bazzilion mini lord to run around and occupy every single settlement that isnt manned, that would be absurd and annoying. *stare at surreal and whisper dont chu dare do dat*
Another suggestion: The value of trading and resources should be increased. For example, if you trade with a faction that has resources, such as iron or gold and they export those resources to you, the iron should give you troop benefits, and the gold -- more money. This can go very far in my opinion.
I like the idea... but waiting for it all this while after Warhammer this game might just be too vanilla, too slow paced, too tedious, and too ... too much to devote myself to except for a brief run though. Remember Rome 2? That was fun without being this slow. It enacted sweeping changes across the global map in a way worthy of Total War- titanic armies clashing across myriad landscapes. Attila got too bland after a while becoming more of a survival game. Ha. Literally. Charlemagne was a breath of fresh air. This fails to excite me. But for some reason really really hyped for Three Kingdoms. Loved Redcliff. Loved it. Hope they continue with the broadly different combat doctrines from Warhammer. With Cao Cao being all out broad bulk push with all out good inf and the best cav. Liu Bei with nice inf spear walls and archers. And the xbows and twohanders from Wu. The differences. And for gods sake CA implement battle effects as well! Like Martial Prowess and My will be done
Yes!!.......been waiting on this! Awesomeness!... And,how lionheart and this fish guy got a key before you is beyond me,your better then both of them COMBINED!
You're not going to get proper pronunciation from me in here. Especially for an older form of English and if you're suggesting modern day pronunciations, I'm not an Englishman. On the other hand, you go over to another town and someone with a different accent may even say it differently. So I'll be tackling it with my American pronunciation.
"hello dongs of war"
I thought I misheard that! Dongs of War LOL.
*insert Lenny face*
So I wasn't the only one that misheard this. This must be canon now.
Every time I see the name Bebbanburg I hope someone's able to make a mod after The Last Kingdom.
Destiny is all!
Surreal has the most strange battle formations of any player on TH-cam
Keeping it fresh.
It's not silly if it works!
pro trick: watch series at Flixzone. I've been using them for watching all kinds of movies recently.
@Joseph Walker Definitely, I've been using flixzone for since december myself :)
@@robsealsey5052 true, true.
16:33 that death animation
Watching this makes me want to go back reading Bernard Cornwell's Saxon Stories series. Can't wait for the next part! Keep up with the great videos!
It's a good one!
Also if you want to read a great series that takes place during this time period a really recommend the last kingdom by Bernard Cornwell
The last Kingdom TV series is also great!
"He's going to be taught the ways of life, heh heh heh" OH MY GOSH XD
Great to see us Northumbrians seeing someone video game representation

The portraits in this game look like a compilation of the chad meme, especially the lord.
As you progress later, try sacking and raiding your rivals lands for more income...Also kill Carl whenever you get the chance

Damnit, I love Surreal's videos but his sultry voice knocks me out every time

His voice melts me like butter.
I fell asleep watching this one today, I'm just getting time to catch up. Maybe he should start an ASMR channel too.

love the history lessons
I think the management and mechanics of britannia are one of the best in the series. The only thing that sucks are the unit and character cards.
Cool total conversion for Attila....oh wait
The only thing I dislike about Total War is that you can't start settlements where you want to like in Civilization.
Omg I live in doneceaster (now called Doncaster)

Tai Penn the game seems very cinematic to where even the small battles get me exited
You’re voice is so soft and calm
You are awesome, mate
Can you rename Eoforwic to Yorvik
Lol there's a minor faction called "Djurby" it means "Animal village" in Swedish.
wait, no garrison, force march or ambush? um... CA?
Ambushing is a bit odd, the lack of forced march I'm okay with. AI would often use it to escape, though Warhammer 2 had a decent balance on it, I think. Or at least they did it less.

No promises!
Guthfrid as King in 878? Wasn't he only made king in 883?
I subscribed right as I heard your voice.
38:45 how do you fo that camera zoom?
Just got an add for clan wars. Boi im watching the viking clans *war*
Woah combat is so fast, i counter 3 minutes from engagement to end. Aw i was gonna buy this game but never mind now.

I think so too.
How can you tell you lost a unit to friendly fire?
LordGray the enemys kills will be less than your losses hinting that they were killed not by the enemy but by your archers
Subbed due to the voice
Anyone else play without even looking at the trade interface? All that goes over my head lol
It's all automated, so it's really not important to look at in this game.
Extra Credit has a two episode series on the Danelaw. Try not to remake Guthreds mistakes ;)

Nice video! Could you turn the game volume up a little please
Sure can.
Hull-f-dan is more or less the correct pronunciation
I don't like the change to the province system, you basically can't choose whath to build just what to upgrade.
Ehh
give us more dwarven campaigns!!!!
“Strat Clut” = later name is Strathclyde. So I’m guessing “Clut” might be “cloot” or “clite”. Good job guessing on most of the others!
All a yah need Jesus!
OOoooOoOooh hell yes!
How you draw the movement ?
You should try to ransom more enemies to have the english on your side.
What the hell kind of a viking accent is the narrator going for in the opening cinematic?
I feel like they said, "Okay, now try to sound really cool and Vikingish.".
"And slightly Scottish."
Can't exactly place it, but it's not even close to Scandinavian, which is weird.
yeeeeeesss
