      "Why is "dog's bollocks" used to denote something good?"
      The real answer is, nobody knows. But as an aside, note that "dog's bollocks" can also be phrased as, "dog's cods", "canine's cahones", "woofer's plums", "mutt's nuts", "hound's testicules", etc. Welcome to England.
      I have this theory that we've been using our language so long that we have to do this with it to avoid boredom and malaise setting in.

      ***** lol I think it's something to do with onomatopoeia and it's use in British English. For example, he uses the word "flumped". It's not a legitimate word, but the sound of it, to me anyway, indicated what he means, "flump" is descriptive of the sound a person makes when they flop to the ground. Even more complex ones, like "gumpy little geck", are complete gibberish, but to a British person, it's a kind of gibberish that still implies something. The phrase just sounds like an insult. "Gumpy" doesn't mean anything, but the sound of it implies stupidity or ineptitude. "Geck" has a sharpness to it that implies malice, like calling someone a dick, even though "geck" is not a word. I could, for example, call another British person a "flimble wibbler", and even though it's complete gibberish, any other British person would likely agree that I'm implying that they are feeble, cowardly, or calling them a paedophile or "wanker". It just sounds like that is what it should mean. English is a very versatile language :P

      Eric Horton I would argue that American English is the English with made up words. After all you got it from us and then changed it so it was so much simpler. I mean, i seem to remember sausages being in this video and the others having no idea what they are.

      @oodoacer 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      George Holland yeah, no. We may have gotten English from you but we didn't change it, you did. the English from the 17 and 16th century was very different from today's. and its more different from yours that it is from ours. meaning you changed it.

    Some of his words are real, he either just uses it when no one else around him does, or he just replaces a curse word since he doesn't like to curse as often as the other Achievement Hunters. One example is that "toss" is sometimes used as the complete alternative to "trash."
    "Just trash it," and "Just toss it."
    I think I actually heard Gavin say, "What a load of toss," one time or another.

    The art of the English Language is being able to deploy any word within a context and it mean and be understood to mean, exactly what it's intended for. For example: "I was bannistered last night" to mean "drunk". Gavin is very good at this.
