I was afraid of IELTS as naturally we're scared of all tests but I thought this was going to be way harder... I was wrong. I had only a week to prepare and got a band 7 overall. I just watched a few TH-cam videos like this one, took practice tests on british council & IDP websites, and gave it a shot!
Also, the result came out the next day (super fast!). I gave a computer-based exam on 17 August, 24. Plus I was sure my speaking didn't go well but guess what, my score's the highest in it! I think there's lenient marking. I gave it through British Council.
    Listening 7.5
    Reading 6.5
    Writing 6
    Speaking 7
I must say listening was the easiest for me. One advice I'll give is to stick to paper-based if your typing's slow. I decided on computer one as I wanted the results early. Although my typing's way to slow, I managed somehow 😂

    Task 2 (Academic)
It is argued by some that it is important for children to study at home. Others, however, believe in school education. Home education can boost family bonds, while school education helps to foster a sense of community. This essay agrees with the latter because being part of the society is more important.

While some families consider homeschooling as the best method to benefit their children's skills, there are others who simply prefer the traditional school out of their homes for their education. However, I strongly consider that children get more benefits by going to an educative institutions than being taught at home.

    Dear Sir or Madam.
I am thrilled to hear about the upcoming new cycle path system that will be introduced to reduce traffic in the area. I am writing to you to explain why I support it.
I believe this is an excellent plan because the area has been suffering from severe traffic congestion. Introducing a new cycle path system not only reduces traffic congestion but also reduces the amount of smoke emitted from vehicles and automobiles.
My main reason to support this plan is the worsening traffic congestion. During peak hours, automobiles, and other vehicles are widely used, causing congestion and delays in delivering services. Another reason is that it can help lessen the emissions from these automobiles. Therefore, improving the air quality.
I would like to suggest other means to reduce traffic congestion by improving our public transportation system. This will encourage people to use public transport rather than private transport. Thus, reducing traffic congestion.
I look forward to hearing from you.
    Your Sincerely.
    Dennis Jason Bago

Thanks for the video, it's very useful! I'd like to participate in the Academic writing task:
It has often been said that kids learning at home acquire the highest education level, whether for the rest of the people is more valuable that kids can go to school. In my opinion, children who go to school enjoy a richer social environment that shapes their life character behavior.

    Writing task 2 (academic)
It is believed that some individuals think providing home education to children is best for their development, whereas others think institutional education is important for children. This essay aims to discuss both sides and showcase their advantages.
Teaching children from home is termed as home schooling, and it can be beneficial to both the child and the parents. The child has access to education within their own home and to various educational material, that may br available online or offline through books. It also puts less financial burden on the parents for educational investment. It is suited towards those who may have a lack of means of transportation, or especially for disabled children who can attain specialised education and teaching methods adjusted towards their needs.
On the other hand, children going to school for education have advantage of socializing. School going children have enhanced development in social behavior due to interacting with various instructors as well as classmates. Having friends adds to a child's personality and development in the future. This approach is suited for parents who may not be properly educated or are too occupied in their work lives to teach their children personally at the comfort of their own home.
In conclusion, I believe children should go to school, not only does it have a great impact on their education, it also adds the benefit of being socially active and friendly due to interaction with different people as well as being able to participate in events and activities hosted by the school.

But home schooling could also include private teachers and tutors, not necessarily the sole presence of parents.

Absolutely, home schooling can indeed involve private teachers and tutors, providing a broader range of educational experiences beyond just parent-led instruction. This can enrich the learning environment significantly.

Children's education is significantly important and whether they should be sent to educational institutions, or home-schooled has long been a topic of debate. I believe it is apt to send children to established educational institutions to receive their education.
Children from different cultures, social backgrounds, and even ethinicities gather at a school.

Thank you for your response. You have introduced the topic and acknowledged the two perspectives effectively. However, to improve your essay:
Clarity and Specificity: Specify the advantages of both homeschooling and traditional schooling. For example, "Homeschooling allows for personalised learning and a flexible schedule, while traditional schooling offers social interaction and access to diverse resources."
Develop Your Opinion: Clearly state your own opinion in the introduction and conclusion. For example, "In my opinion, a combination of both methods can be most beneficial for a child's development."
Overall, a good start. Keep practicing to enhance your writing skills.

    Task 2 answer :
Many parents believe that their children have to educate by his own parents at home to get an education, but there are also those who argue that children have to going to school to get an education.
In my opinion, we must try to understand case by case because educate children to boost their development is actually an option like whether we will choose tailor made clothes or market clothes produced in the factory. It depends on their parent’s time and resource too.

If the children were going to school, its system have set some standard for student. It consists of the curriculum, training for teachers, supporting facilities in school and so on. For example in elementary school, In first and second grade, the student will learn about simple math, language. Later in fifth and sixth grade learn about natural science and social science followed by an national standardization examination at the end of education. Student will get education dan knowledge based on the system and the output may meet this curriculum.
If the children were taught at home, their parents are given more freedom to determine the curriculum. As an example if they want to add some archery lesson, math for life, basic cookery lesson is more flexible. Other advantage is also their children have an undivided attention because it is more like private lesson with a few students and of course lots of time with parents. This can also be an option for parents who have children with special needs such as children with ADHD or disabilities.

Thank you for your response. Here are some suggestions to improve clarity and coherence:
Grammar and Clarity: "Many parents believe that their children should be educated by their own parents at home, but others argue that children should go to school to get an education."
      Structure and Consistency:
Use consistent tenses and clearer examples.
Separate advantages of each method into distinct paragraphs.

Task 1 answer: Dear sir the new idea that the local council planned to introduce a new cycle system path is very helpful for many people and for the traffics too and the reason is because if the council haven't planned that traffic problems might increase and traffic might get slow too so it is very helpful of you to introduce this plan. and one thing i suggest for more plans to reduce traffic in the area is if you make the roads more wider because the number of cars in the area is increasing drastically and if you decrease the number of zebra crossing's because most of the zebra crossing's aren't used and people can just use two or three zebra crossing's in a single part of a road and that will help to decrease the traffic in the area and it will be helpful if you do that yours faithfully.

    Dear Sir / Madam
I am writing this letter to support the idea of our council to introduce a new cycle path system in Old Airport Area as it will resolve the issue of heavy traffic and it’s jamming again and again.
A new cycle path system will allow the cyclists of our community, whose major ratio consists of young kids, to have a safe and secure rides. This will also avoid any mishap, injury as well as severe accidents that unfortunately happened in recent past. This system will also permit the cars and other vehicles to pass through the streets and roads without fear of hitting the cyclists. It will also help the smooth running of traffic without jamming any further.
I also want to suggest some ways that can reduce the pressure of traffic in our area. For instance, banning the loaders and lorries in residential area, making some underpasses for cars and vans and overhead bridges for pedestrians to cross the roads will effectively aid the unhindered flow of traffic.
    Yours sincerely

Thank you for your detailed response. You have effectively explained why the new cycle path system is a good idea and how it will benefit both cyclists and motorists. Your letter is well-structured, and your suggestions for further reducing traffic, such as banning loaders and lorries in residential areas, creating underpasses for cars, and overhead bridges for pedestrians, are practical and relevant.
Overall, you’ve done a commendable job in addressing the task. Keep practicing, and you'll continue to improve.

A certain number of people have a notion that in order to progress with a developed personality, a child should be schooled at home, whereas certain others opine that attending school is imperative for children. I consider both aspects have their own merits of development arising from both atmospheres of school and home and this essay will outline them in detail.

    Task 1
The graphic illustrates how many male and female in tertiary education in Britain among 1970/71,1980/81 and 1990/91. Either the student takes a full-time education or part-time education
On the whole, many students prefer taking part-time education to full-time education with a large difference in numbers. There is also a different number of students between male and female.
In male student at first there is a huge disparity between part-time and full-time education approximately about one-tenth of the other. Nevertheless as time goes by, this difference becomes not as much as it used to be because of the number of student which takes full-time education could catch up with the part-time education one.
On the contrary, in female student, the disparity is still exists. Although number of student increases significantly. For instance, in 1970/1971 in part time student around 800 and full time student close to 100 compare with 1990/91 in part time student around 1200 and full time student close to 200.

There are opposing opinions on the developmental effects on homeschooling versus scholar education. Personally I think the advantages of learning at school outweigh those of young people being educated by their parents.
Certainly one upside of teaching pupils in their homes can be making up for strong political influences on a curriculum. For example creationism has been in included in many biology classes throughout the united states, leaving many parents worried.
On the other hand, in a well organized school system, teachers would generally be more experienced educators and thereby avoid problems that parents might encounter. A very common example is probably the well-known difficulties of many parents who are trying to tutor their offspring with after-school homework and often finding themselves struggling to either understand or properly explain the content of lessons.
In conclusion, while some parents may prefer to teach their children at home to avoid misinformation by a faulty curriculum, the overall better experience of professional educatros in providing learning opportunities makes schools a generally more effective learning environment.

      @BCIELTS  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

Thank you for your response. You've effectively discussed the pros and cons of both homeschooling and traditional schooling. Here are a few suggestions to make it more concise:
"There are opposing views on homeschooling versus school education. Personally, I believe the benefits of school education outweigh homeschooling.
Homeschooling allows parents to avoid politically influenced curricula, such as the inclusion of creationism in some US biology classes. However, experienced teachers in a well-organised school system can better address educational challenges. Many parents struggle to help with homework, highlighting the advantage of professional educators.
In conclusion, despite some parents preferring to avoid a flawed curriculum through homeschooling, the expertise of professional educators generally makes schools a more effective learning environment."

Writing Task 2: Some argue that homeschooling is the best for a child's development. Others believe that sending children to school is a better option. I think that is essential for toddlers to go to school, as it develops not only their cognitive functioning but also their social skills.

    • @BCIELTS
      @BCIELTS  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

Thank you for your response. Your introduction clearly presents both viewpoints and states your opinion. Here are a few suggestions to improve it:
Clarity and Structure: "Writing Task 2: Some argue that homeschooling is the best for a child's development, while others believe that sending children to school is a better option. I think it is essential for toddlers to go to school, as it develops not only their cognitive functioning but also their social skills."
Grammar: Replace "that is" with "it is" for clarity. Also, "toddlers" is a very specific age group (1-3 years old), so you might want to use "children" to cover a broader range.
Revised version: "Some argue that homeschooling is best for a child's development, while others believe that sending children to school is a better option. I think it is essential for children to go to school, as it develops not only their cognitive functioning but also their social skills."
Overall, it's a solid introduction. Keep up the good work!
