@@iammohitsachdeva Hello Mohit! Why don’t you continue in your production engineering field only? There are many industries here which requires skilled production engineers including Automotive, Appliances, Plastic injection moulding and many other. As you have 4 years of experience you must have gained impeccable skills in Lean and six sigma methodologies, you can also look for similar roles which requires those skills. In addition, your current course project management can also help you gain some more skills. I would highly recommend you to get certified as PMP. Switching to supply chain doesn’t make any sense, as jobs in this field are pretty much limited to few industries only. It’s agents in India who created hype about supply chain management in Canada. Talking about IT, it’s going to be very hard in the beginning to switch from mechanical. Also, currently IT companies have high pool of talented engineers available at their hand, so it would be very rare for them to consider you for core IT jobs. Still you can try gaining some skills through online platform.

All of these options are great but they will require hard work to gain those skills and even harder work to get a job (for a beginner). I believe if you put the same amount of hard learning coding for 6 months, you will have much easier time getting a job and acess to so many career options. Coding isn't that hard, give it a shot.

In North America, they outsource CS and IT work overseas. It is safer to be in engineering field. Many Mech Eng jobs require P.Eng. license and are not easily outsourced.

@@guhankathiroli4439 I am not seeing any old IT guys. They disappeared. In engineering side, many got to work until their retirement due to experience and baby boomers leaving the workforce. My observation is that CS and IT are for the young.
