I am curious to understand more about the Australian Post Office rules about Cancel Stamps and other markings that go on the covers that can explain some of colonisation history and changes with our Constitution and relationship with the British Empire. I recently watched an interesting video on the Norfolk Island Postal Office that has raised my interest.

Funnily enough, Sydney was not the biggest city in Australia during the late 19th Century. The gold rush in Victoria saw Melbourne grow to the largest city in the British Empire outside of London and definitely the most culturally diverse. Many Melbourne public buildings were designed to be far grander than anything in Sydney but unfortunately, the depression of 1890 pretty much left most buildings half completed.
