First Impressions of Kitchener, Waterloo After 39 Years in Toronto, Ontario CANADA

- What's it like to live in Kitchener Waterloo Ontario Canada? After most of my life in Toronto, we're taking a trip to Waterloo for 3 days. Toronto vs Waterloo. Waterloo has a lot of farmers markets and nature trails so it sounds like a great place to live. Cheaper than Toronto for rent, better air. But first impressions of the sketchy downtown have us second guessing our trip lol... What's the best city to live in Ontario Canada?

BC is where it's at. Warm weather, mountains, forest and greenhouses where you can grow your own fruit year round.
@@dadigitechman Get your 💉s first! Be curtious of others!
Don't forget the Canucks either best hockey team in the world.
Yep. Head to Vancouver or the Okanagan Kasey.
I moved to BC from K/W were it not for the weather I would wish I had stayed in Ontario the expense and the culture are very different. Waterloo has Canada's largest farmers market too lots of Mennonites nearby in St. Jacobs.
Always raining there
Lived in Toronto for 25 years as well and in 2017 moved here to Kitchener/ Waterloo. Best life decision I made. Love it here.
Yea we do too.. 6 years here. Great place.
What's the commercial real estate like?
@@drdelewded there are a lot of shops, restaurants, etc and a lot of office buildings.
I do not know about real estate prices. Except that it's up compared with a few
years ago, even though not as bad as in Toronto.
@@ellenpa2000 Im looking for old churches or warehouse spaces
I live here too; I'd love to show you the BEST of this K-W area! You missed the best stuff!!!
Waterloo/Kitchener is a pretty big city. It’s not Toronto big but it’s not a small town either, 527,000 people in the metropolitan area.
242k people. Even if you add Cambridge that's only another 129k people.
@@PowerhouseOriginal where did you get these numbers? that area hasn't been that small in decades. the entirety of waterloo region has over 630'000 people with a projected population of just under 1'000'000 by 2050. it's not as big as toronto, calgary or montreal of course, but it's already the 10th largest metro in canada coming only behind hamilton
Sounds like a great place to practice dry fasting.
It's fun seeing the town I live through your eyes. While you're here, you could visit me and my cat!
Going on the road in Canada, sweet!
he took the death jab. 💉🧬
@@SalsaSippin_ You new?
@@goatsmilk7751 been here since he had 8k subs. Longer then you. He took the bad bad shot and is hiding it.
@@SalsaSippin_ That's nice. You must have missed a lot of shows. I take buses in Kitchener and no one is forced to kill themselves. It is suggested, but not enforced.
@@SalsaSippin_ OK I looked it up and it is only interprovincial travel. He didn't have to leave the province. Thank goodness it is a large province. How long have you been watching--in years, I mean. I discovered his camera channel first, then started watching just before he left for Thailand. You have got to know he is a truther. You don't take the jab just to travel 1 1/2 hours.
How can you say 'nobody cares'? We wouldn't be here if we didn't.
"We're headin' to Waterloo Kitchener..... I said that backwards." You make me laugh good sir, instant like and sub
Moved from Europe to Toronto. Then lived in KW for years before finally moving north.
Get out of Southern Ontario. Once you get north of the French River, life starts making a whole lot more sense.
Happy trails
Omg downtown Kitchener is SO SKETCHY!!!
Don't settle for "ok"...be patient and keep searching...you WILL get there, and the journey is half the fun!
I grew up in Mississauga, 26 years, moved out west 20 years ago, lived in Alberta for 5 and the last 15 in a few places in BC, BC is the best, come out to Kelowna and Osoyoos next summer and I guarantee you will want to move here.
You look really good for 39+ years. Keep it up 😎
I began watching this channel a long time ago. When it was just a guy fasting in Thailand. Now he is vlogging where I grew up. Where will he end up next...
Okg I love this video ! Knocked it out of the park !!!we get to go with you on an adventure so exciting😀😀😀 the farmers market its so good there .....we try to there once a year but dont go into kitchener.... nice drive up there to..
How about Alaska?
If you want towns, I'd definitely suggest Peterborough, Smiths Falls and even Ottawa, anything removed from the 401. And if remoteness is your thing, North Bay and Sudbury are the places to go - if you manage not to get hit by a moose or some other large mammal on the highway...
Peterborough is great for drugs.. North Bay and Sudbury learning some French might come in handy
Hah, I love seeing you travel vlog again even if it's in Canada still! I don't live close to there so it's all neat to me! Good vibes.
There is a second-hand shop on Weber and Victoria. You could get some kitchen utensils there. It is right below the soup kitchen. Don't be afraid of the people.
worth a second look 💗
Come to Ottawa buddy. We live in Gatineau. 10min from downtown Ottawa. Cheap to live here. Population is 250,000 and has the Gatineu Park with hiking trails, bike trails, ski hills and lakes.
Waterloo
Couldn't vlog if he wanted to
Waterloo
Everything's closed at night for you
Wa-Wa-Wa-Wa Waterloo
He's finally visiting Waterloo
Love that song
so funny!! thanks for taking us on your trip.
We should have left this country while we still could
You're in my hometown!
A lot of people are indoctrinated here. They have big plans to make it a "smart city". I don't like what has been going on.
@@goatsmilk7751 gentrification is a bad aspect. But we can have a say in Kitchener... For the rest it's lovely to live here
@@ellenpa2000 I have lived here all my life, and I am loyal. But they railroaded that train in against everybody's wishes. Even all the city councillors resigned over it. The bus service has gone to crap. It takes much longer to get around with a lot more walking. They keep paving everything off and closing streets. It stinks of NWO agenda.
@@goatsmilk7751 the NWO happened when they destroyed the tram (it is not a train imho) system in the late forties giving priority to oil.$$$ Trams can be way more efficient in moving people around. But I am an old fan from Amsterdam. The system here has a lot to be desired over and they didn't learn from places where trams are efficient...
@@ellenpa2000 You don't use the transit system, do you? Efficient for fuel, maybe, not for people when it just goes up and down, in a straight line, and slower than the buses.
Herding people in the middle of the cities is a NWO plan. I remember one woman who was running for city council that wanted a private factory to relocate just to be closer to the train. Why the heck should they do that?
They were also running on increasing population density. In what universe has that EVER been a good thing? (They call it intensification)
Another plan is to get rid of cars. The city went to (I think it was Manulife) and somehow forced them to make the parking astronomically expensive for their employees. I'm sure this was to encourage people to take the train. But it isn't very convenient when it doesn't stop as often as the buses, even though you may be on the same street.
Also, it was very strange, when they changed the bus system they left the old terminal intact, just sitting there.
I honestly feel they left it there just for their drive-through covid testing, which was planned in advance long, long ago.
Cheers!
Move to Finland :'D. Here's nature and clean air for you.
Yea try to get out of Canada without the V
@@francisproulx9669 Why should that be a problem? You just need a negative test result.
That not just any "race car," fella. You don't even know. What a great vlog. Hilarious!
Most exciting video ever!
I love your music!
Love the return of the travel vlogs!
So many other places in Ontario, how about Hamilton, Ottawa, London, Oshawa, Guelph, St Catharines, Newmarket? Picton? You will be visiting Barrie and Niagara Falls so looking forward to that.
Nice train shots
Come to Florida! I will take you and the Vegetable Princess out for a nice vegan meal.
I DO live in Cambridge, and it IS better then Kirchener AND Waterloo! 🤣
You were so close dude...
I don't think he'd get that vibe he wants from Cambridge.
Hold up did he say 39??!! I was thinking he was like 29. You look amazing!!
@Vegetable Police Dear VP, welcome to KW. (Got to know you via our friend in Scotland) We (old fogies &vegan) live here now for 6 years and love it!! Done away with the car. All public transport. No, not Toronto, but fun and community.. You were in no way in downtown Kitchener. It has character, loads of different cultural restaurants, busy shopping streets. We could give you a tour if you want. Hubby Jim is born Torontonian and loves it here. I am from Amsterdam, also Toronto and we lived in a very small village for many years, but now very happy in Kitchener.
Great farmers market, vegan food too. Hahaha were you on VIA at first instead of GO? We regularly go with GO to Toronto. Look me up on fb messenger. You haven't seen anything in KW. Best, Ellen & Jim
smaller towns are the best - you'll be speeding through my small town but keep going past Kitchener and go all the way to Stratford but you'll have to stay overnight (just recently the Kitchner GO line pilot project now goes to St. Mary's, London, Stratford) and get the 6:43 a.m.GO train back to Union Station
did you end up in Orangeville, that first stop where you said in the middle of nowhere.
Dig those beats n sounds
I say keep searching, doesn't seem to be home
I'm leaving Toronto for a small town too, so thank you for the tour:)
I think Napoleon Bonaparte likes Waterloo... 😁😁😁😁😁
Dude, I have lived in Kitchener almost my whole life and I just wanted to say, you were NOT in WATERLOO at all lol! You were here in Kitchener! And in order to see what Kitchener has to offer, you should have filmed in the day time. People going to the market on King st. The busy court house on Fredrick, the famous TH-camr we have (Ricky Berwick, next door to me lol)things of that nature. But to be honest, if you want a nice peaceful vibe, you definitely need to go check out Waterloo! Lots of really nice shops and such! Come back, I will be happy to take you on a tour!😁
You should be a tour guide lol.. try to sell to anyone to kw how super exciting and eventful it is! Yeah not happening lol.. it's not a bad city/town, pretty much just like any other one in Southern Ontario in all actuality
Travel conspicuous.

Good morning buddy. Windsor is warmer. You might be bored tho.
Windsorite here. Humidity is awful
Tomato capital of the world there 🍅 . Detroit just across the river.
2:30 your voice is so majestic and magical
Sorry Casey, it won't get better. If you want warm, move to Windsor. If you want cheap, move to Cornwall. If you want high-crime, move to Kingston. If you want friendly, move to Peterborough. If you want boring, move to Chatham. If you want big-city without the big-city B.S. move to Ottawa. Barrie's great, if you're a coffee addict, not good for much else though. Niagara Falls; if you need souvenirs at 3AM there's no better place to be.
nice summary. And if you want to take more control of your life, stay away from urban areas altogether.
In the uk towns with "universities" are usually more expensive in rents. You need a smaller town or large village.
Same here. Rent is through the roof in Kitchener-Waterloo.2 universities and a college with multiple campuses. As a KWer there’s no ghettos. This guy hasn’t seen much in his day if he thinks there’s ghettos
Thanks for the tour
But are the squirrels friendly?
digging on the cruise tunes bro
It’s been way too long since you did a travelogue 👍
Move to Amherstburg Ontario, nice little town friendly people, lots to do and see. Part of the furthest southern tip of all of Canada. Very warm summers ☀️
"If you are good at building bridges you will never fall into the abyss." Anon. Love your work on veganism and fasting VP. 💜🤎
I live in Kitchener, more or less born and raised. I'm moving to Edmonton in a couple weeks. Bigger city, significantly lower rent and real estate prices. Consider it man
Good for you you’re out looking. I’m working on it too.
Older video but I know you haven't moved yet. I live in Thunder Bay, it's certainly not amazing but it fits at least some of your criteria and the real estate isnt completely insane. We have a nice park with a duck pond!
Try Cornwall Ontario. It's super south and borders the US; it has a river and clean air, is one of the cheapest towns in Ontario and has multiple grocers and farmers markets. Not much to do for entertainment; it has a bad reputation, and it is slightly colder than Toronto in the winter, but considering your characteristics, it seems like it might be worth the train ride.
Oh god is that what I look like? Lol. Do we all get that jolt? Fun stuff 🥴❤️
Check out the Kawartha Lakes area. Lindsay/Peterborough etc.
How is Peterborough? Always curious about that town.
@@spendingtimetogether8428 Peterborough is a nice city; well worth the visit. The whole area is called the Kawartha Lakes; lots of lakes and rivers; cottage country. Very scenic.

Have a good time. Interview the drunk people across the street on how they feel about a 21 day water fast. 😜😜
Caribou is calling... Enjoy the ride where ever you guys go! For Canada always get a grade of...A!
I heart me a VP travel vlog! $126 a night for a place that size is a steal! Gotta be somethin' wrong with that town...
According to legends here Kitchener is cursed. Used to be a Native burial ground and Europeans built on it. That building across from Google is the Virus Lab. Where they teach students from overseas how to do gain of function research.
Come to Montreal, plenty of farmers' markets here!😁
If you ever drive someday which you might and you start parking you will notice even if you park in an empty parking lot someone will pull up beside you
Hope they try to have a good time regardless of deciding not to move there. Price is not bad for a little getaway

Cambridge is much !
Just found out November is a grace period for air travel with negative COV test instead of vx pass
Saskatchewan and Manitoba are all that's still affordable if you want some land. Maybe up north in Ontario but that is cottage land and kinda sucks. I have gone through this same process and came to the conclusion to live at home lol
I know someone who lives on Prince Edward Island and really loves it there. Maybe you could start a new channel checking out the ghettos of various Canadian cities? :-)
The tour along with the camera line malfunction is what horror films are made of. Kinda Eerie...Run!!!
you'd like Kamloops BC, as a past Winnipeger its gorgeous here most of the year
I’m moving to Kitchener next year
You should move to BC! FYI someone just opened “Squatch Strength” gym outside of Seattle 😧
Food is a lot more expensive, and no good pots or pans.
Looks like a good time to start another fast.
The grass isn't necessarily greener my friend.
VP, I really miss your storytime videos, hoping youll make a similar video someday :)
Please do more travel vlogs. The real reviews are rare on TH-cam
Nicely weird that audio 💐🎹💐
I care
I thought you were moving to Iowa at first haha
I have a question? Who are the "we" you keep refering to?
You can see glimpses of Vegetable Princess on the video, too. Her hand at the beginning, and a reflection on the train windows.
@@DisgruntledDoomer ah yes glimpses. Mere wisps of what The Vegetable Police once was. A ghosty phantom stalking the hallways of trains and hotes in the hither regions of Ontario looking for life`s answers on his / their journey into oblivion. Is reality all that we know or all that there is? What is reality? Princess, my princess how fair thou art, lighting up realities door so we insignificant mortals may pass. But to where?
That’s not a small town bro haha I thought I herd you say that on the other place you whent to but that is a small city. I leave in Kansas and that has small towns b. Nothing but a school a gas station and some fast food joints and a Walmart. Now that’s a small town. The place where my sister lives is nothing but a school gas station and a bank and there used to be a gun shop. Them pots and pans are fucking disgusting !!!
Oh man go to Niagara Falls plz I miss the place
Cities without public transportation are more rural. You might need to drive a car VP to live the simple life in nature.
You can't compare Toronto and it's vibe to anywhere else in Canada. I'm from KW and still have family and friends there. After living in TO for the last 20 years now, it's hard to compare, unless you are sick of the people, traffic and everything else TO has to offer. As for me, I'm not there yet in my life. Perhaps I'll never be. I'm a big city guy and love everything it has to offer. You'd probably have to move to another country to get what you are desiring.
I live in Scarborough... and haven't been "in the city" in 5 years
@@drdelewded Please elaborate.

Downtown, broseph..
I stick to the burbs
I fucking hate the city.. people all over the place breathing my air
Darn. I wishni still lived thereee i grew up there
Any plans to move out west? I've lived KW for over 15 years and it's glory days are over tbh. St. Jacobs where the Farmer's Market is pretty nice but expensive. All surrounding Southern Ontario is overpriced. Maybe look into Alberta or BC, has the nature you want and more "awake" people than Ontario (especially AB). Keep up the good content man.
It’s a tough world out there, with scratched teflon and things costing two dollar more. Go home!
The drawing of the Blue Jay is probably the work of a Danish nature painter/illustrator Johannes Larsen. I have a couple of frames hanging on my wall of other animals/birds. Although not clear in the video, the initials do look similar. Interesting.
Like the haircut. Did you lost some weight? Or your arms was bigger?
