Everytime I lost trying to beat this challenge I repeated myself "Horace will turn out to be an optional and awesome boss, and you'll get a reward for beating him and his task". When I finally did it and he just gave me some gems, oh man, the dissapointment.
All you really gotta do is equip the Grind Mail and make lots of consecutive jumps. I don't see the big problem here, seeing as to how the challenge is _deep_ within the realm of possibility, and turns into a bit of a laughing stock once you master grind and wall movement, such as grind-slashes giving you a bit of invulnerability to pass through the enemy you just hit and how you can tap down mid-wall-run to drop from the wall( like you do at max wall run) early.
I was only able to beat this thanks to the curios that lets you warp towards enemies, and I have to say yeah it's a disappointing reward. But man was this so satisfying to beat!
Judgement Rush makes this much easier and is a better use of Darkness than the Chronos Coin. Technically you don't need any Curio to complete the tower, but the Rush makes certain things much faster if you know the layout of the "screen."
Why yes, the ‘screen’... For anyone who doesn’t understand, the mini game is actually made up of several smaller sections somewhere in the tower hub, and you just load into them for the different sections
Naw, fam. The reward is mastering the level of parkour you used to get through, especially if you used the Grind Mail since that basically means spikes are ground tiles and you can now badly speedrun the entire game.
I beated this only because i thought it contained a red skull award, how mad i was to find out that i went through all that for COMPLETELY NOTHING, well on the bright side i did somewhat grind on getting treasure, so i guess it wasn't a total loss
Doing this right at the start of Specter Knight's playthrough was an exercise in pure frustration. Way too long and difficult for too little of a reward.
Yeah yeah, 1.7k gold is disappointing, but goddam when you get good enough to beat it it's so so fun. Spector knights movement is really underrated imo, never hear it talked about outside of the context of the game
if, for some reason, you actually find yourself wanting to beat this (probably for the achievement), the judgement rush curio is also very useful for skipping past large sections of platforming
That blue Jem curios that teleported you to the nearest enemy and made u slash at then was practically a must for me and I probably could do it without but I just wanted to do it so I didn't have to do it later (I am 100%ing the game on the switch just gotta do all the stages again in the new game plus thing and the challenge modes and listen to the WHOLE soundtrack)
Btw what game should I get next plague of shadows or the base game of shovel knight since I enjoyed this masterpiece of a game so much (this is the best game I own) (my entire existence is sad, I know )
Green Squid Man If you get Treasure Trove on PC, you will get all the campaigns for free (I assume King Knight’s campaign will be added for free like the others). I don’t know if the Switch or other consoles have everything in Treasure Trove, but they probably do.
Space Wafflez It took me four hours but I actually got to the top after like an hour and a half... I died at the last wall jumping bit and then only got there again at my succesfull attempt. I would have had to do it to get all the achievements but damn if it was worse than the character challenges. And I beat all of shovel and plague knight's. I would have finished this campaign in five/six hours if it wasn't for that
Curious are a nice buffer when you’re still learning the mechanics and movement but damn once you git gud and you got the railmail and you can just fly through the tower and leave Horace in the dust it’s so satisfying
this level was fun but I hate that Horace speeds up if you're going too fast so I can't so what I do in most autoscrolls and give myself a nice pillow to fall back on if I do something well

@NocturnalDragoon I'm deadass half-sure that this was made for Grind Mail. The way you can power through entire segments by holding down and attacking a couple times, that you can cut right through slimes without wasting time in the slightest, that you can skid awayto victory so cooly makes me think it's a part of the minigame in of itself.

The fun of the game is managing to beat the challenges, not what you win at the end. The fun is in trying to beat this tower. If you choose not to try and and beat it then you're only depriving yourself of one of the funnest parts of the game. You might as well not play Shovel Knight and its DLC at all because you get nothing "real" as a reward. Why even play games at all? Unless you're playing for money professionally then you don't "win" anything. No the fun of games is in the playing them. That's the reward
Holy hell , juggling the janky timing, horaces bs speed and just the amount of blink and the fact the sections can appear inverted throwing off your muscle memory just makes this challenge not worth the prize...I can literally get that amount from king knights stage
Fuck this minigame. I just discovered it on my first playthrough as Spectre Knight after beating maybe two stages. I think I've played it for about 2 hours straight now and I know every little trick to shave a split second off here and there, and I've made it to the final piece of it at least 5 times before my nerves got the best of me, and NOW I find out that you unlock a slow time powerup? Oh and the reward is 1000 gold? I got 15000 gold just trying to beat the damn thing. Fuck this.
I was highly dissapointed by the reward... money and... confetti... And I almost lost my sanity in between retry and retry in new game + Partially worth it (at least there's an achievement... tho I don't care very much)

fuck Horace, took me 50-70 minutes on keyboard with on my 3 bars of darkness. i got 19,323 gold from just trying to beat it for a measily 1,700 gold

You need the Shovel Knight Amiibo. There is an npc to talk to to activate it. I forgot the name but it's a fairy princess looking npc.
