This was a really done video and I'd love to see you post more video essays of games that are dear to you. Only issue I really saw with this video was there were times the footage seemed to lag slightly but that could have been the capture from the stream. Also thanks for giving a general plot summary without spoiling some of the more in depth character interactions for newbies!

Thanks for the comment! Regarding the lag, yeah most of the footage I captured of the game were directly from the capture card with some streams inserted as well

I have 6 main problems with the game:
    #1: Korok Seeds
Easily the most tedious and boring part of the game and the fact that there’s 900 of them and you don’t even get a good reward in the end is absolutely ridiculous. The shrines were way better.
    #2: The Rain
I have never played a video game in my life where it rains so damn much. It does nothing to add to the experience and instead it’s just annoying and gets in the way of everything.
    #3: The Overworld
The game itself is unnecessarily too big and too empty. You have no idea how many times I would go out of my way to explore a new vast region and there would end up being absolutely NOTHING to do besides maybe collect a korok seed. The world is so empty with nothing to do most of the time and everywhere you go is basically the same but with different scenery. The snowy mountain regions were by far the worst because of how dull and empty it was and fighting the malice on the dragon could of been utilized a lot better.
    #4: Enemy Variety
There isn’t a whole lot of variety of enemies throughout the game which is crazy considering how vast the map is. Everywhere you go you literally fight the same monsters and enemies and once you get the hang of it they all become easy and underwhelming.
    #5: Dungeons and Bosses
We all know this but the biggest Elephant in the room were definitely the dungeons and bosses. The Divine Beast are way too short and easy and all the bosses look exactly the same as well. The final boss of the game is one of the most underwhelming boss battles in the history of video games.
#6 Lack of music and story
What makes Zelda is the lore, stories, music, puzzles, and dungeons. It fails every single one by a country mile. The cutscenes in the game were some of the most boring and mid cutscenes of all time and the story was so average. The vast majority of the game doesn’t have music which is a shame considering the fact that the little music that does show up in the game is absolutely beautiful. Music could of helped with the dullness of the overworld.
The game definitely has some good moments to it. I really liked the journey and pathways leading up to the Divine Beasts, meeting the sages, climbing Death Mountain, uncovering shrines, and the Yiga Clan Hideout but I just feel like the bad moments completely outweigh the good moments. As a Zelda game I would give it a C but as an overworld game I would give it a B- 🙏🙏

I do agree with there being too many korok seeds and most of how get them is very repetitive.
I am a huge fan of rain so having there any areas where it does rain make it feel more atmospheric to me.
And as explained in my sections about the game’s atmosphere, the lack of music, to me, makes the world more immersive with its sound design with the occasional break of music, creating a more quiet adventure that I think fits well with the setting of BOTW.
It’s not a perfect game by all means but I do love what it does to be a different Zelda game. I do plan to cover TOTK one day as I have some things to say about that one
