Ibanez did it again, pushed the quality up! Looks like the 2020 will be of Mono Rail bridge and Covered Fusion Edge pickups. So, Ibanez needs to brings those standards to the Fireman and Iceman series. Have a great new year guys.
I don't often feel like the articore series get enough love, fantastic guitars for a large series of genres, a complete opposite to what Ibanez is known for !
I bought a used 2004 AF85. It looks very close to the new jazz box they called them. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one, mine has been used so much it needs a fret job but there's barely a scratch on it. The most amazing thing is the binding..is on the top, the bottom, the neck, all around the headstock, and all around the solid sycamore pickguard. There's not one single crack or delamination or any problem with the binding. The finish is perfect, still has original pickups tuners and bridge..these guitars last A LONG TIME!!! I'm 100% an Ibanez guy now. I'm brand loyal. I mean...go to reverb and search Ibanez..There's so many different models and not one is garbage. All excellent guitars that will last and hold value!

From what I can see at Thomann the RGA hardtail costs 800€ and the Floyd one costs 900€. For that I'll go with the RG HPs because at least they look like expensive guitars
I have very small hands and I think it's unfortunate that there are no guitars with the with The super wizard neck for 600-700$. Would also be nice if Ibanez did some guitars with 24 and a half inch scale length
Really nice to see this years models finally. Is this everything? Don't get me wrong, its a lot! I'm in the market for a new 7 string, and I thought Ibanez would do something really cool with the axiom lable or the premium lable, but there's much left to be desired. In particular I was hoping for a few options for Bareknuckle or Fishman Fluence pick ups + hard tail config. Either 25.5" neck or slightly longer. I really hope there's more to be revealed. So much poplar burl, if you're into that its great!

I just wish Cort, who make so many of these guitars would produce more under their own name. Sooo frustrating as I see so many lovely guitars. Fantastic to see Cort releasing some amazing guitars in this genre for 2020 though which is really cool news.
Maybe they look at what's in demand the most in terms of string config. The more popular, the more will be produced. I think once over it was like it w/ the 7 string, Steve Vai mostly used them and they never really got popular until KoRn and Fear Factory played them.
It's really cool to see Ibanez make a lot of roasted maple necks this year. From the roasted maple necks that I've played on other guitars they are very nice and I'm interested to see how roasted maple feels on a cheaper neck.
Well... I'll respectfully disagree. This is the only AZ model that I don't like at all. 22 frets and HH doesn't sound good imho and it looks strange and honestly depressed, nothing that an AZ shoul, but we can respectfully disagree :)
@James Will I also like a neck pickup with 22 frets, but only on SSS and HSS guitars, sounds more like an authentic Strat. For everything else 22 frets sound too dark for me, prefer the more snappy 24 fret tone
Munky's (KoRn) new APEX 30 looks the biz. Having 30 in the name must be a tribute to the Universe that came out in 1990 (his first 7 string), and the metallic gray a nod to the UV7PWH model he first bought (the one w/ the disappearing piramids on the fretboard). \,,/
You should have played the semi hollow body guitars a bit more. And actually played something that was appropriate for that kind of guitar. For those of us who don't play shred type stuff. But they are all nice guitars.
I might get flak for this.. but they need new colors.. premiums the same ish everytime.. the poplar blue or charcoal with a few other options but everytime I see a ibanez anywhere its 1 of those 2 color. ... or I'm colorblind I dunno. Anyways +1. Team Ibby.
I got a RGIM7MH, 7 string multiscale with EMG X pu. Cost me 799€ (that's slightly over 800$) in 2017. And if you are fine with used instruments in good condition, you can get a kickass prestige model on ebay.

Just put chrome hardware on everything and be done with it. Black is tolerable but the gold is absolutely hideous. I do like how many of these lines are developing though. I just wish Ibanez would make guitars that have classic finishes and wood combinations verses flavor of the week finishes. I have two hard tail basswood RGs I refinished that are a joy to play.
Ibanez needs to step up their game! 6-7-8 string Xiphos guitars! A new flying V would be nice too! This is almost the same as Schecter lineup. BRING BACK THE XIPHOS!!!

Yes, for me it is, mainly on stage. As I play looking for the center of the fretboard, I'd prefer centered inlays. I don't think it is boring. For me, it is functional.

Beautiful and excellent projects, my favorite guitars, superior playability, the ones that work better in my hands, but: Why All of that offset fretmarkers? It could be even better if dots were centered. Great specs, superior hardware, but Ibanez should back to centered dots, specially on 5220 and 5227. Why including mother of Pearl offset inlays in a maple fretboard? They should be Black and centered. That guitars are all must have, but I´d suggest changing these details.

Dot inlays bother me with those finishes, straight ebony board would be killer instead.

Great job to Ibanez for bringing out guitars with EVO frets. Some of us have a nickel allergy and they are hypoallergenic.
Raunch evo is a good middle ground from nickel getting destroyed and steel destroying your strings
