Love the planter box! Will the pallet boards hold up to the weather (eg. rain, the bottom of a wet flower pot)? Thanks again for sharing 😀 your northern neighbor 🇨🇦
Awesome video Daniel! Planter is badass. I’ve been burned out on them but ur design has motivated me to change mine and lit the fire once again brother! U have no idea just how much u help me man! Keep it coming
Great spin on the project, great storyline, but most importantly great inspirational value on this one 👌 I'm one of those that has had my finger on the content creating trigger, but been too afraid of my lack of tech skills to pull it. Now you will likely see me out there in the near future! Thanks so much 👍
Loves the video So happy you received your band saw So glad I found your channel Wish I could make all the live videos but life happens for a woman I do watch the recording You are a great inspiration Thanks for all you do for your members
I love you Daniel!! You always feed my crafting spirit. So happy to see and hear you be so passionate about woodworking. Your videos are well-edited and your personality shines. Keep it up! Catch!
I've never built a planter before, but thinking I just might do it here pretty soon. Sorry that I don't get to all the live shows, but do enjoy it when I can! Even if I don't get to join in on the camaraderie, I do watch the recordings to learn new things. Your Jewelry boxes are fantastic! Your joinery is the best! I agree with Kat... You're a true example and inspiration! Take care my Viking friend.
I spent a couple of hours today ripping apart pallets so I could have a stockpile of wood. Then I attempted to make one of those octagons shelfs. It turned out pretty nice!
Wow Daniel!!!! That is a nice bandsaw !!! You soooo deserve it my friend! Can’t wait to see what you make with it! My shop build is finally dried in and windows. Soon I will be able t set up my tools and make a different kind of saw dust lol😂 Also really loved the planter! And was very nice to meet your son and wife!
Hey man ! Thanks so much for the kind words ! I know you’re excited to get in your shop !! Happy for you as well ! No better feeling than making sawdust ! Skål 🍻
Great video. this is the first one of yours I have ever seen. very interesting and educational. Thank you for sharing and I will look forward to seeing you again and watching some great videos again. Cheers from Victoria Australia.
You're gonna love having that bandsaw in your shop. Resawing stock and cutting radiuses and doing some scroll work will really up your game. Congratulations!
Great video Daniel! Doesn't surprise me though! I do like the contrast. And maybe you can answer a question on the angle. The angled planters I did, I think the short one was at a 5° & the tall one (33") was at 3°, but my top trim didn't fit level with the top of the planter. I know maybe I shouldn't be so picky, but there was a gap under the trim where they didn't quite meet flush. I had to hand plane it to get it to meet together. Any suggestion. Have a super day and enjoy your new toy!
You can bevel the tops of you planter at that same degree to get it to sit flush or do a compound miter ( which is a bevel w/ the 45° miter on your top ) or just don’t beat yourself up too much about the little gap 😊
Love the angles on the planter box 🔥💜🔥 You are Amazing Daniel! Genuine Badass 😎 That's why we love ya! Grateful for the community of RockStars you've brought together and all of your time and effort. You will achieve every dream you want bc you recognize and appreciate every one you already have. You're a true example and inspiration D. Thank you 🙏🏼💜😇
Well my goodness , that’s so sweet of you Kat ! That means so very much to me , I know one direction and that is forward, and with viewers like you it makes it that much easier to stay going in that direction (Forward) Skål 🍻
Thank you for the video. I plan to make a few of these. My basement is mostly dry so maybe ill get to this weekend. Thank you for everything you do. You are so inspirational to many people. I know I say that alot but the more people I talk to from your members i found out how true it really is. Maybe ill have a couple of projects to send pictures of soon. Glad you got a band saw. I know you said its be a little bit til there will be another video ill be watching for it. I cant join the weekly lives because of work but ill see you in the weekend lives
I love seeing good things for good people, and you are good people. Congratulations on the new bandsaw. It will for sure open up a whole new level of videos now. I can't wait to see your shop over time transform into something amazing. All earned from your hard work and great videos.
I love breaking up pallets. It’s a stress reliever. I am a pallet hunter. I look for ones with oak and other hard woods and also cedar❤️. I have several stops that allow me to go thru their pallets and pick ones where they are just throwing them out
I make and sell a ton of this style based on Matthew Peech’s design. I like the spin you put on it though and am gonna try it. Was this initially based on his design? All the best as always Daniel 👍
I haven’t seen his , but I have no doubt it is similar , Mathew Peech is awesome , thanks for tuning in and leaving feedback , you’re an absolute rock star 💫
Your advice at the end is just right. While my journey with TH-cam thus far has been very different than yours, I didn't hurt me one bit to hit record on that first video. By the way, if you did a series on your video editing, I'd 100% watch that.
If you run the pallet board threw a plainer it's best to check it over with a pin pointer metal detector because the nails they use to assemble the pallets are coils and the wires between the nails get stuck in the boards and are hard to see and can really mess up your plainer blades, if you find one use a regular drill bit and drill out the nail hole.
Just noticed my comment on this video didn't post 😲🤔 anyway didn't want u think hadnt watched it. That looked amazing must say dude you are proper inspiration I've watched allot of planter videos but this is the most accurate and best tutorial video on TH-cam. You proper are awesome and we are so honoured and proud to be part the viking family. Ps at 21.30 when u take the call can see the bandsaw in background or looks like it 😂😂 stay awsome brother 👍🤘🏴
New here. As I'm watching this, a couple of ideas have come to mind. First is a jig for assembly of the side frames. And, I know there are others out there like me, who think that the slats should be tapered to match the angles of the frames. I'm thinking the two inner most would need to have only one edge (the outer) cut at 3° and then cut them to fit the frames.
GREAT video Daniel......I have been thinking about starting a you tube channel. But I know it's a lot of work and time. I just don't have either of that right now.....besides, I'm really not a good speaker. Maybe when I retire, I'll have more time. Take care.......P.S. I'm glad you found your wife in the backyard :)
Thanks man ! I totally get the whole time deal . Can’t wait til ya retire and watch your stuff brother ! I have a feeling it’s gonna be awesome ! Skål 🍻
Reciprocator saw with bimetallic blade to cut the nails, or if you don’t mind shorter boards just skill saw the sides. Wack the middle beams with mini sledge. That’s my method.
Another great build. I definitely enjoy your channel and seeing your visions come together. I am a novice just getting started and I have an issue with patience. Any advice you can give a newbie on how to stay focused and engaged when things don’t seem to come together properly in the beginning or the first time around?
You must be patient , patience is the most important part of woodworking. Use soft woods like pine when first starting out , and any scrap woods you can find , ask cabinet shops for their cut offs. That way you can practice. So practice practice practice

Best way to chop up these pallets quickly is to use a chainsaw/jigsaw/whatever to remove outer stringers since only costs a few inches of the cross boards and ends usually split when removing anyways. That just leaves central stringers to pry off and they usually are easier than the outer ones. Just my ten cents...
Hi Daniel I thought when doing pocket holes that you had to use the screws that were recommended for the pocket holes because I noticed that using there screws they are a little bit expensive, the other thing I seen that u used a mask when you were trimming up the pallet boards any special reason or just a preference
@@frankhomen2632 I had horrible allergies that day plus some pallets have chemicals in them , as far as the povket holes you can use which ever screws you like as long as they have a similar pan head
Ahh so there’s the delivery of that bandsaw I asked about, grizzly, I used to get emails from them I don’t know what happened, haven’t been getting them lately?
Congratulations on finding your wife in the back yard. I wish you both a happy future. Great video. Cheers John

Gotcha. I might just do that buddy
If the pallets are wet from rain they seem to come apart easier with less splitting of the wood.
👍🏼
Morning Daniel.. Mark from Ky checking in... Did you say that you found mahogany and a wife in the backyard?

Jesper is an awesome guy, don't forget Dainesy too 😂😂
Dainer made just in case lol
I know ole dainesy!!! Love both of em.
Do you plan on putting a weather protector on it? If so, what are you using?
Just a clear spar
Daniel, unless you are going to be using the stiffener, take your drill and drill off the flats of the nail heads. The slat pop right off afterwards.
You can achieve the same results with a grinder (die grinders work best) and quickly zip the nail heads off...
Ahh that’s a great idea brother . 💡 🤦🏻♂️ why didn’t i think of that dang it ! See that’s why I enjoy having you in the comments brother . Thanks 🙏
