    In this video we have a look at our next possible caravan now that little Hey Ho is getting bigger and the things we have learnt from having our Xplore 304.
    Regarding the weight, I think around 1400kg would be pushing it with our current Car.
    Seat Ateca
    Kerbweight: 1375kg
    85% match figure: 1169kg
    Legal towing limit: 1500kg
    I think this limits possible options, depends on how much you put in the 85% rule?
    Do you have any thoughts on any caravans you would recommend?

    You mentioned that the toilet door on the 640 can't be locked open. However it also shuts just the toilet/sink area off so you can then see through to the bedroom.

    We think you've got an impossible wish list. At the moment for an L shaped lounge, island bed under 1500kg there is from our research only the Elddis Avante 454 but it has a small centre washroom. To have all 3 on your wish list, we could only find the Bailey Pegasus Grande Brindisi but it's towards 1600kg. We think your best compromise would be the Bailey Phoenix + 640 and change the front locker for a seat. Then you get the U shaped lounge, centre shower and toilet and a fixed transverse bed all in at 1410 kg mtplm. For lightweight caravaning that's top quality then the Bailey is our opinion right now the best on the market 👌 👍 Happy hunting 😀. Be very interesting to see what you do eventually upgrade to. 😍😍

    • @heyholetstow
      @heyholetstow  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, after some more searching we think getting and L shapes or U shaped lounge is impossible. To be honest it’s a low priority over the fixed bed and the separate shower. Also, looking at our towing specs, even 1400kg is pushing it. Our search continues but with slightly scaled back priorities …

    I have a small caravan for Holidays and a large double axle older caravan which i kitted out inside with a fixed bed and end bathroom and shower, Kitchen and breakfast bar, Best way is to build your own, Also you can alter the layout if your needs change in the future.

    @robclarke4963 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Unfortunately I think what you are looking for isn't available from UK manufacturer. European caravans are so much more contemporary. The closest UK caravan I think to match your criteria is the Elddis xplore 585. Although it doesn't have a fixed double it is very very versatile. It has two lounge areas one of which is l shaped. It also has a bunk bed. Have a look. I think it would work for you.

    • @heyholetstow

      Yea, we realise we probably won’t be able to hit every item on our wish list: the search continues.

  • @CaravanVlogger
    @CaravanVlogger ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I wouldn't get too hung up over the lounge bit feeling enclosed when looking at centre washrooms. I bought the Bailey twin axle, transverse bed as I thought it was great having the open space. It means you can see all the crud that I generally dump on the bed from everywhere. Now, I drop my coat, laptop etc on the bed and we can close it all off and have a nice tidy lounge to relax and watch the TV. Agree 100% on the concertina door, shocking rubbish piece of paper blind type thing.
    You should look at the single-axle version of ours. I think it's the Swift Challenger 560. Not that you're looking to replace your current caravan, of course.
    You have the bug, you've started the search, and you'll be in a new caravan by Xmas

    • @heyholetstow
      @heyholetstow  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yea, I agree. We are just tying to be quite specific so we don’t even up getting a compromise. But no ideal caravan really exists. We are limited a lot by our tow car. As far new caravan bug… watch this space…. It’s like a beast out of control

    Just to add , re the long front seats they are fine for your daughter, most adults use them as single beds so she would be nice and comfy.
    The Bailey with the fixed singles, again they are for adults we have had 3 Baileys that layout and the beds are actually fine once you get used to them 😂, my husband did turn over and fall out once 😂 as they are narrow like you said, we have a Swift now with fixed singles and they are wider.
    I think the last one you looked at is your best match though. You could have an extra tv in the bedroom so after your daughter is in bed you can watch something.
