    Hey Mark!
    You are certainly the 'yoda' of tamiya tuitional build videos bud.....
    Usual high quality production that we have come to expect from the master! 👌
    Your experience shines through with these bodies mate.
    Rally car bodies are total a*******s
    to complete..... so much patience and skill required with the high level of attention to detail needed for both the painting, and the decals.
    I can fully appreciate the time/effort that went into the black paint detailing..... but in my mind it is an essential task. If you are too lazy to bother with it, you may as well just buy an Arrma or Traxxas ready to run!
    Yeah the tasks are enduring and often stressful, but that just makes the finished product that much more rewarding!
    These highly detailed scale bodies are what Tamiya do best, it's down to us to finish them with the dignity they deserve!
    Fully behind you with the cotton buds, an essential piece of painting equipment.
    I also love a good cocktail stick to get in the tight crevices (oo er! 🤣) and once sharpened to the required tip specifications is great for dipping in the paint and doing the small details.
    Great decals tips there bud..... not guna lie-
    I would definitely struggle applying those, and struggle even more to actually drive the thing after so much hard work has gone into it (I always crash! 🤕)
    Turned out DELIGHTFUL mate, especially when finished with a cock pit! 👌
    Great job Mark!
    👍 👍 👍 👍

      Hi there James! You are too kind mate, you know every time I start a new build guide I'm bricking it in case I mess up!!! 🤣 We all make mistakes and the pressure is on when you know your friends will be watching with beady eyes!!! Anyway, I got lucky and this turned out OK! Patience is needed in bucket loads mate!
      And yeah, detailing is a part of the fun and why I never by RTR's. Agreed, these hard bodies are Tamiya's best. Glad it's not just me with the cotton buds and cocktail sticks! 😉
      I certainly don't want to crash it but sadly that is inevitable! Fingers crossed it won't be too bad though! 🤞
      Thanks again and all the best my mate! 🙏😎👍

      I really appreciate that, Derek! I actually enjoy fitting the decals but it's just so much trickier (and nerve-wracking!) trying to do it on camera!!! Any body you want me to do would be a pleasure my friend! Cheers! 🤗👌👍

    Oh, wow, Mark! Such a lot of work with those stickers! Very rewarding, especially when seeing those last photos out in the nice light, it is such a cool rally car!
    I can imagine being annoyed with needing to paint black first, and then needing to apply the decals over it and it can't be seen, ha ha. But your commitment to doing it right for the video is admirable. It's a proper video guide, this!
    And now, as always, I am just looking forward to seeing it out in the dirt, in slow motion.
    Take care, my friend!

    • @MarkBryanRC
      @MarkBryanRC  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mads and thanks for the wow comment! Yeah, the stickers are rewarding when you get them right and I love the overall look of this rally car. And the black on the rear end was worth doing in the end as the sticker alone would have white showing through! So all in all I'm very pleased! I'm really glad you enjoyed it mate, I have just got to summon up the courage to drive it! Cheers! 😎👍

    Hi Mark, great details and build. The Tamiya paints can be tricky to use and require patience but worth it. Those decal look so good, always learn something from watching you build RCs 👍🏾

      Thanks Paul! You are right about those Tamiya paints! But I find the old Testor's enamels I have are just easier to use! I really wanted to do this one justice as it's such a pretty car, luckily I got away with it! All the best my friend! 👍

      Many thanks, Addam! Glad you liked the glamour shots! Oh yes my friend, there was plenty of stress here whilst doing the decals, even after I had a practice on the one side, off-camera! You could of just left it unpainted and not bothered with the black details and just slapped on the decals and off you go! (((BUT))) so damn pleased you didn't Mark! All that effort absolutely pays off the details make it! Totally agree a work of art my friend! Absolutely stunning! Top job mate l am really impressed with your work. One problem you do have now is you have made this look too beautiful to use now lol....
    I have developed a phobia of doing bodyshells these days they are like walking through a mine field for me lol....so big respect man!

      I definitely have a problem now, I think I'd cry like a baby if I smashed this beauty up!! I'll have to find an enormous mattress with feather pillows around the edge to drive it on! 🤣
      I also have that bodyshell phobia, it took ages to pluck up the courage to start this one and still have the Brat hard body to do, but TH-cam will make me do it! All the best, cheers my mate! 😎🙏👍

      @@MarkBryanRC Haha you always do a fantastic job Mark but that bodyshell Phobia is real😫 and sadly seems to get worse lol...just got to go for it and what's the worst that can happen?? Well could destroy the decals or paint job and the bodyshell is wrecked!!!! The stuff nightmares are made of!!!
      Seriously stunning job on this body you must be over the moon with yourself on that!
      Good luck with the Brat body its another beautiful shell but again tricky painting! Good luck my friend and remember to meditate for 6 hours before getting your brush out! It works l promise you!😉
      Cheers buddy.

    Absolutely amazing details there. Nice tips for stickers/decals too. I work in art department for TV shows here and besides painting, I do faux finishes and ageing. But one big thing in Scenic dept, is decals, on everything! So some of the techniques I learned from my Tamiya builds actually transfer to my work. Last week I was on the ocean, standing on the edge of a Zodiac to get a massive decal on a larger boat to hide the boats name... Wild. Great work on the car and look forward to seeing some running footy!

    Looks good Mark, you're braver than me, trying to brush Tamiya paints never ends well. I tend to use Vallejo Model Air paints for brushing, ironically they are airbrush paints, but they brush really nicely and cover really well too. Also they can be cleaned off of the Tamiya spray paints, like the white base coat really easily, making things like those rear vents much easier.
    I agree, definitely one of the best looking cars that Tamiya do.

    • @MarkBryanRC
      @MarkBryanRC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The finished body's testament to your patience and determination, Mark. My hat goes off to whoever designed the full-size body, and to the Tamiya guy/s who rendered it in 1:10 scale.
    Did the black paint strip (and - my goodness - you did that so well!) across the rear of the car make the pattern from the sticker invisible, in the end?

    • @MarkBryanRC
      @MarkBryanRC  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Del and thank you for the thumbs up on this one! True, the designers of the 037, Pininfarina are true legends and Tamiya are incredible copycats! Ah, that black rear panel, I think the paint is needed to replicate the original look. You can just about make out the chequered pattern in the right light. I think it was right to paint it after all, but of course the matte finish doesn't "matter" 😁👍

    I have one of these in my stash as well to build 1 of these days. Gorgeous looking car for sure. Did you try to apply any heat to the decals to make them conform around the side of the car? If you are using the Tamiya black out of the little jar try mixing in a bit of their paint thinner. Will go down nice and smooth with no brush lines. Tamiya acrylic paints has a high density of pigments and really should be thinned. You're model came out absolutely perfect!! Cheers!!
