    Pretty good list. A bit charitable to the Jagdtiger perhaps and I'd place the StuG III a bit higher based solely on its service record.

    This was an interesting idea for a video, and I definitely enjoyed it!

    Imagine being a German tank commander late in ww2 and you are still using the pz.2

    I am by no means an expert, but am an enthusiast who's been reading about Panzers for 40 years or so. I think your list is pretty spot on, and I would probably just move the Jagd-Tiger and Ferdinand each down to one row below where you have them, but would otherwise pretty much come up with the same assignments. Pretty interesting idea, and I think you provided a good background on the pluses and minuses of each tank. I've only been lucky enough to stand beside the Jagd-Panther (at the Imperial war museum in London back in 1994 or so) but it would be cool to see more of these beasts in real life at some point...

      @@zenmastakilla I'm not sure if its a rhetorical question or serious... But it was a dumb idea and even more poorly executed imho. You could probably build five PxKw 4 with the same amount of resources/metal/effort, which would have been way more effective in a real battle. It's hard to believe sometimes that the same country who gave us the (extremely beautiful) JagdPanther also gave us the 'Maus' and other stupid vehicles. :)

    Not bad, defiantly would agree with most placements here. Personally would move Jgtiger down to C Tier (below the Ferdinand) Maybe even Terrible. We Gotta Remember a few extra factors here. Logistics (heavier and bigger shells take up more space and load limit for transport). It takes another whole person to load the gun, that speaks for itself for many reasons. The L/71 was already more then good enough to pen all enemy tanks so could have just built more tiger 2s. Last thing is not learning from the mistakes of the Ferdinand and even some other vehicles that had mechanical problems.
    Just wanted to also add 1 more tank that gets forgotten about. The JgPanzer IV, which Id Prob put in A tier (very good vehicle, but drain on much needed resources)

      Ferdinand should go below every tank except the Maus. It was hot garbage.

    Since half of the tiger 1’s were abandoned by their crews, I would move it down to b. The horrible transmissions and reliability issues bogged down the heavily armored menace

    My favorite is the Panzer IV. It was lighter than the Panther and Tiger tanks, but still with good armor and 75mm gun. At least in the early stages of the war, it was supreme.

    I have to say there's alot of mythology and just straight up bullshit when it comes to German World War Two armored vehicles especially their tanks. First the Tiger wasn't unreliable and was actually a decent heavy tank when used and maintained. The teething problems with the Panther was also fixed early on and it became a very effective weapon in the last two years of the war. The Panzer 3 was a very good tank that could hold it's own against M4 Shermans and T34 tanks. Most T34s were destroyed by Panzer 3s at the beginning of the war. The Germans just liked the Panzer 4 more so production ended early for the Panzer 3. It's chassis was used for the excellent Stug 3 assault gun. Panzer 1 and 2 were mostly used throughout the war for multiple roles besides frontline combat where they excelled especially in close quarter infantry support. German tanks worked very well and were cutting edge technology for their time. The lack of fuel and limited production numbers compared to Allied tanks were the biggest letdown.

    * me who moves the maus to C teir* you didnt see nothing.
    all jokes aside well made list and i do agree the maus was made to late in the war to be any use , also surpised no anti aa vechicals was on here like the whirlbilwind, ostwind and the krugelblizts
    but back to the maus if it did see combat it would have had to be used as a long ranger as it would be to slow to make it to combat and would have been a juicy target for dive bombers. given that fact that the gun it had on it ( and the russians testting it on their tanks only the is -7 didnt get pend by it) could punch though pretty much any tank it came across i think it probley would have been atleast C the low end of C do to to many unknowns

      @2ndcomingofFritz 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I mostly agree, but the main reason the maus wasn’t put into service was because of the debate on how to use super-heavy tanks. For example, if it was a long ranger then what would be the point in having that much armour? That then leads us to the point that if it didn’t have that much armour then it would be much faster. It couldn’t be used at close quarters either due to its abysmal speed.

    Only the Panzer IV should be S tier. Panzer II had its place as a light tank so tier A early in the war. Panzer 1 place was really only as a training tank so tier B or C, its suspension really too fragile for combat use. Panzer III was incredibly unreliable, when it mattered, and thus Terrible. If one bit of kit lost the Nazi's WW2 it was the Panzer III so perhaps it should be S tier after all! Panthers crap final drive, and lack of vision makes it usually C tier, but A tier in some circumstances, ie as an ersatz tank destroyer on the Eastern Front. Tiger 1 was S tier on the Eastern Front in 1943, much lower in France or Italy, or after 1943. Tiger 2 was a waste of resources.

    • @FrogWalrus
      @FrogWalrus 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hard disagree. Late war Germany was losing the logistics and resource war by a large margin. They needed to try and outlast via harden defenses. Heavy tanks like the Tiger 2 are significantly better in that capacity than larger numbers of lighter tanks.

  • @HoosierCatfish
    @HoosierCatfish 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Tiger 1 shouldn’t even be called an S Tier as it was more of a danger to its crew to operate and maintain than it was against the enemy in combat, had to angled to fire, couldn’t fire while moving and broke down more times than it could actually work. I know the guy said all this but here’s some stuff he didn’t mention. It was easy pickings at 600+ meters to 76 Shermans, and many other large caliber tanks such as the M10, M36, IS-1/2, M26 Pershing, M18, and many other tanks of a 76+ caliber gun. A better alternative to the Tiger 1 was definitely the Panzer IV as it was easier to operate and maintain, and had better Anti-Infantry capabilities and variants than the Tiger.

    • @2ndcomingofFritz
      @2ndcomingofFritz 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Since the E 100 wasn’t actually built, it couldn’t be used on this list. Only vehicles that where actually built where on this list.
