I admire the breakdown of parts and functions in the video. Up until now I had purchased reels by price value vs weight capability without really understanding how the reel components actually work. I feel I am better equipped to make a purchase based on a better understanding of how I can use the features on a reel instead of just weighing fish.

Can't decide on this or new stella, guess I will be getting both
I've been looking at this new 22 Exist after seeing the improvements since the 2018 Exist, such as the removal of the anti-reverse switch if i recall correctly from online comparisons. This video is one of the best I have seen re 'introduction' to a new reel especially since Shimano released the Stella FK 2022 within a similar time frame (talk about competition and timing). 😁
This one for the Exist is better in my view especially with the new AirDrive concept and one piece body (monocoque), which has to be better then the Stella FK at first glance before getting into the nitty gritty. I will definitely get this reel (22 EXIST LT 5000-CXH) down the track, which has the sexy round handle (which the new Stella does not have as a standard option) to join the rest of my reels from Daiwa (Saltiga's, Certate's, Catalina and BG MQ Ark) and Shimano (Stella's, Twin Power and Saragosa).
As I don't bat for a particular brand - but appreciate exceptional design and Daiwa's major advancements since 2017-18 around, to clearly up their game (as shown in their design advancements) against Shimano in the mid ($500 up) to high end range. Which like everyone knows, will then be phased into their lower priced reels like the BG MQ ARK (6000 size) I got recently - compliment's of the Certate LT ARK (without the need to change the handle), that everyone gets to enjoy. 👍

Only negative thing about the exist is the shallow spools. Hopefully they give deep spool options. Surf fishing requires some line. Can barely fit 200 meters of 10lb j-braid grand.

How is the inertia start up % difference vs 2018 model?
Thanks for the question. The difference in resistance is about 16% less for start up inertia when comparing a 2500 size 18 EXIST and a 2500 size 22 EXIST.
@@DaiwaAustralia how is the inertia of exist 2022 compared to that of shimano Stella fk 2022, in 1000 models? Bought a Luvias LT and although smooth it was difficult to turn handle as opposed to my 1000 Stella FJ.

I never understood why Daiwa have always made the spool bail size so bulky and big- made no sense at all- it's about time!!! I wish they made the oscillation slower to really compete with the Stella 2022. I've always wanted these smaller reels 2000-3000 to have slow oscillation for better line lay.
The line will cut in the spool after you fought a big fish

The main body material is Magnesium which is treated to allow use in SW. It is the same treatment as the 18 EXIST which have stood up to SW fishing here in Australia over the past 4 years. The Rotor is Zaion and the Spool is Aluminium.

The Exist is our flagship small spinning reel and is made in Japan where they are assembled by hand with incredible accuracy. The process that goes into the development of these reels over a span of over 5 years is truly incredible and as such we think it warrants the price tag that is presented.
