Wow, what an incredible climb! 🏔 The drone shots are absolutely stunning - really show off the beauty of Granite Peak. Your guide is super helpful for anyone thinking of tackling the East Ridge. What a nice video! Cheers, Simon - Tales From Abroad
Sweet. I remember standing on Mount Lady Washington at Rocky thinking man this is higher than granite peak staring at longs. It's way easier than Granite. That is a long approach. I always say Barronette Peak was my all time favorite. From Ice Box up ridge. You can not beat Absoroka for wilderness hiking.
I found this to be an extremely helpful video. I live in southwest Montana and have been contemplating this climb for white now but couldn't find any footage like the footage you supplied. Very detailed. I appreciate the time and extra work it took to set up the camera and then film yourself going up and down. Great job. You earned a subscriber.
Thank you Nathan! I find that the helmet-cam footage usually makes the routes seem more difficult than they really are, so I was hoping to provide a more realistic interpretation of the route. Glad you enjoyed and best of luck if you attempt this!
Thanks! That's understandable. I got hit by some hail on the way down to the trailhead. I would like to attempt the SW ramp too at some point, especially because I haven't been to the Cooke City region yet.
Great video. You climbed a lot of the peak twice to get footage, huh? Thank you. Although, I won't blab, and I don't know how it is enforced, but drones are prohibited in wildeness areas.
Thank you! Yes, it was quite time consuming to make. But on the other hand, the descent was very stress free because I had already learned how to downclimb the difficult parts!
I would be careful about posting footage of illegal drone flights in wilderness. That said - nobody appreciates illegal drone flights within wildness. @@davidfancsali
Hey great content and I like your style. Along with taking the time to position your camera to show the climb. But the drone use in a Federal Wilderness area is inexcusable. It being against the law is one thing. But your use is basically the middle finger to other land users looking to get away from drones and the such. It's super disrespectful to others.
Another incredible trip! I can imagine how much extra effort you need to do for these shots. Thank you, David!
I enjoyed this very much. Granite peak is much more challenging than I realized

Super helpful for forecasting the upper technical sections. I'm pondering making a run at this one in July of next year. Thanks!
Thank you! Glad that you found it helpful, and best of luck if you decide to give it a try!
Excellent video!

Awesome thank you for sharing
Great video. Turned around due to hail before SW ramp. Will go back. Not sure what side. Only team that summited on SW said it was 5-4 on crux.
Thanks!

Hey David, what kind of camera are you using?
The camera is a Panasonic Lumix GH5, but I filmed a lot of this video with a GoPro.
Another great video, David. My favorite of yours is still your Sawtooth one, but I found this one entertaining and informative. Stunning views.
@@ValkyrieHikes Thank you!
I have a few more climbing videos on the way, but I'm looking forward to getting back to the backpacking too.
