    I absolutely appreciate the care and time LTT allowed for Tim to explain his coffee hobby, especially the editors' notes explaining stuff when Tim mentions something that isn't common knowledge. A lot of the difficulty of getting into a hobby is not having the prior knowledge to talk about it -- it's overwhelming to hear someone talk about something you don't know anything about -- but Tim explained the basics really clearly and concisely, and the editors supported him on everything that might be confusing to a casual viewer. It's not what I expected from a tech channel, but I appreciate the time and care LTT put into it!

      @johnmarklowry534 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@RandomUser2401 As with anything else, what you can spot in a blind tasting will depend on how sensitive your taste is and how familiar you are with coffee in general. A relatively new coffee drinker might not be able to distinguish all of these, but I'd assume someone who's brewing a V60 every morning and is into coffee as a hobby could distinguish quite a few of these factors. A list in order of appearance: coffee sourced from a local 3rd wave roaster, grinding the coffee fresh right before brewing, a good grinder with consistent grind size output, using precise ratios and measuring in grams for accuracy, type of filter used and speed that the filter allows water to pass through, pour technique that allows for bloom time. That's the big stuff, but there will also be some minor things like washing the filter beforehand to remove paper taste, etc. You'd be surprised what can be detected through triangle tasting, and if you're curious, I can almost guarantee that he's been watching another TH-camr who explains all of this in extensive detail - James Hoffmann.

More importantly, he gave the right kind of info that we can actually use. Understanding how it tastes, comparing flavors, and understanding how different things effect the taste so we could change it to suit our personal preferences. I would totally watch more videos about brewing if he was the host. Also, I now know the importance of quality equipment and why it's better. Truly enlightening and I would love to see more.

I recorded the media with a camcorder, even double checked the cords and storage, then took the bus to school. Classmates presented stuff like how to use a snare drum, how to wax a snowboard, etc. When it got to my turn, I couldn't get the thing to work. I ended up presenting by just talking and it was one of the most miserable 10 minutes (I could only last that long, I think teacher took pity on me and let me go). Ugh.

    I have learned a lot from this video. I don't drink coffee but I do drink tea.
    What I just learned after watching for the 10th time is that tea from these definitions must be an immersion brew most of the time while coffee is a percolation brew most of the time.
    Also, the best way to measure liquid to herb/bean ratio is best measured with a scale and not with a measuring cup, either done before or after using the kettle. I did that for a while and felt like I was missing something and that it was cumbersome. It may also lead to errors in heat loss or water loss from multiple points.
    Something I haven't done is a rinse cycle before I start a brew. I also have bad tea so right now I don't think it matters.
