- On The Go | The Dark Side of Labor Externalization is a documentary that is seeking to reemphasize the dangerous conditions of Ugandan workers in the Gulf. Much has been said about the improvement of the working conditions, mistreatment, and risks but the cases of maltreatment that are sometimes fatal have only increased. The documentary captures real-life experiences, those that have returned in bad shape, and an unfortunate fatal case.
This is the type of content we need to start consuming.

@AIIJ for highlighting on this, I’m lucky I got to escape from my boss, seeing Taqqika going through breathing and now can’t have her kids at young because of chemical she was using in Saudi Arabia, I remember using Clorox everyday and my boss told me one day to be careful because I may have chest problems and I asked myself why they buy such chemicals at home while knowing it’s dangerous on maids.
I could cry everyday regretting even why I had to come here but I thank Allah I had to run away to save my life.
Even when your not physically tortured,or over worked but staying in one place everyday away from your loved it tortures us mentally, nze Kati nawunga wunga seikyetegeera but soon after Ramadan am coming back home🥲🙏🙏🙏

Thanks for the good work and letting us aware of what is happening my question is what's the role any embassy to the other country towards that citizen of the other country?

"Here is why journalists should study literature. There is something we call melodrama, which is defined as the use of intense emotions in a piece of work.
The problem with melodrama is that it leaves the audience overwelmed with emotion but helpless to do anything about the situation. A story becomes melodramic when its plot has victims but no perpetrator whom the audience can hold responsible for the catastrophe.
Tragedy, on the other hand, is when the plot identifies the powerful as responsible for catastrophe. So victims dont dominate the plot."
In this case all we have seen here is known and we'll documented but there are no heads we can identify, cut and roll. All that the documentary did is to create heavy feelings (melodrama) yet we can't identify the perpetrators who own the contractual companies and are the fat cats in govt who sell us to slavery in these countries and call the fruits of our slavery "FDI" and "remittances". The are the ones who were threatening the source of this investigation. We would have wanted to see the details of the contracts that are signed and who actually benefits because that's where the big bucks are. Sadly, this was all missed. We never experienced the tragedy of this story.
Wow, exactly what I noticed
Stay safe 🙏 ❤ n thanks for the great work 🙏
Well done! Thank you for keeping us posted.
Our pleasure! Thank you for your support.
Thank you AIIJ for the great work you do. You've really developed Ugandan investigative journalism in such a short time.
Thank you @AIIJ for this sad story 😥😭
What hurts more is that other countries like Phillipines Siri Lanka etc protect their girls there embassies do act upon accordingly but ours is putting a deaf ear to our problems. I pray this documentary awakens them
Well done Solomon and Team. I wish this goes viral and helps save lives of the ignorant.
Thank you so much. much!!! We are learning the part about whether labor externalization is more harmful than good. @AAIJ should also come up with ways for how the young generation excited about working abroad can be sensitized about the pros and cons. Many people have fallen victim but that doesn't learn. It's risky.
Let's get the solution to this.
SHALL WW CONTINUE CARRYING IT OUT? Every DAY WE GET EMOTIONAL STORIES.
don't you think it's high time we learn that we need money but there are other ways to get it Instead of relying on labor externalization?
Thank you, guys .
Thanks for de investigation thru teaching us ugandans
Thank you AIIJ.
THIS IS WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS TO KNOW.
Thank you so much but we have no power to make changes to improve the working conditions of those domestic workers. Who benefits from this project? This question was underanswered
I would like to salute the co founders of this institute, kudos, please keep up the great work,we pray changes come

I count myself lucky for surviving. I only do not call myself a returnee but a survivor
At 14:33 the label says origin MCT. That's the airport code for Muscat, which is in Oman not Saudi Arabia. I have also heard horrible stories of the lives of foreign housemaids in Oman, too. Regardless... this young woman didn't deserve this terrible fate. Prayers to her family.
Thank you for the great work done, this is one of the various ways the citizens can realize Socio-Economic justice.
THE ROLE OF THE MEDIA
This is really heartbreaking!!..
We all deserve to be treated humanly..🥺🥺
