    Am a plumber from Nigeria, however I will like to relocate to Canada as a plumber.
    Is it advisable to apply for a year plumbing course in any college or I should go to the express entry?

    Do plumbers work at heights? I was thinking of looking into the trade, but not a huge fan of heights. Looking more into the residential side,

    • @Kennymolotov
      @Kennymolotov  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Michael, yes in some applications plumbers do work at heights. But it is not something I would consider common. I hope this helps.

    I started at a plumbing company to learn the trade. Been here for a little over 3 months and they have me in the shop all the time, running parts. They hired a new guy and hes already going to do jobs. Is this normal or should i look for a new company?

    • @Kennymolotov
      @Kennymolotov  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey friend, sorry to hear about this. My feeling is that you should first have a polite conversation with your superiors. Express to them that you were really hoping to be hands on in the trade, and ask if there is any way that can happen. If they say no, then find a new company. If they say yes, ask a timeframe for when that will happen. If by that timeframe comes they do not get you on job sites, then look for a new company. If they do get you on job sites by that time then they seem to be keeping their promises. Hope this helps and let me know how it goes!

      @@Kennymolotov well i have talked to them, and they said since i dont have much experience, there going to have me run parts to plumbers for awhile. They know i want to learn the trade. I show up early always on time. The new guy they hired showed up 2 hours late, on his 2nd day and is always on his phone. But hes going out on jobs. Running parts is not going to help me learn the trade.

    • @Kennymolotov
      @Kennymolotov  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey friend, find out when they plan on putting you in the job site. Learning the parts is a crucial part to the trade, but I appreciate you’re more interested in the hands on stuff. Try to make a goal with the company to get you into the field. And see how they respond.

    Hey Kenny I just wanted to know is Humber and George brown the same? Or is one school better to study at?
    And I wanted to know lets say my compang specializes in risers and service and they don't do residential, how do you suggest i get my experience on the Residential side?

    • @Kennymolotov
      @Kennymolotov  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Amanvir, those schools compete against each other, and the curriculum should be extremely similar between them. So it only will depend on your experience in other words. With the company, you would have to probably go into a new construction company that does residential. Hope this helps.

    Hi
    First of all thx for great plumbing video for newbies. I have been tile contractor for past 15 years residential and commercial ( downtown Toronto , GTA ), im local 183 member. I got to the point in my career that i want to change my trade to something else and plumbing was always interesting me. Tiling showers, tub, floor etc in houses and condos, u see plumbers working, so after 15 years believe it or not u know how to install toilet faucet etc, small stuff. 3 years ago i was not exactly sure what trade i really like, so i signed up for HVAC G3 at Hi Marks 4 months course in classroom with exam at the end which i passed with 82% ( 3.5 hour long exam, code book, etc ) so im TSSA G3 gas technician .
    Question:
    To become Red Seal plumber i have to:
    get a job with plumbing company as government registered apprentice to get the 9000 or so hours and THEN i sign up for pluming college and do the 1.5 year in classroom? How that works?
    Or i go to college for the apprentice pluming program and the school finds the co-op pluming company to hire me for 4 months and then u come back do 4 months in school till i get the 9000 hours work ( co-op) and then i write exam and get the "red seal"
    Which should i go first ? find company to do th 9000 hours or should i go to pluming apprentice college?
    Sorry im confused, cause from tile setter point of view i didn't have to go to any apprenticeship programs at all. Just sing up with a union, call few company if they look for sub-contractors and if they do u do some paper work and Im ready to take 1st house tomorrow. LOL simple.
    Or should i call local 46 for plumbers, and see if i can get into the union, ? My opinion i prefer school with hands on work, Knowledge is important even though i might not use it now but i might use it later on other project and u know the standards, codes, materials, pipes, etc, which im acquainted with.
    Ur help is appreciated

      Hey CashFNT first thing is most apprenticeships require a high school diploma. So it would be in your best interest to finish high school.
