I don't own the show or the small bits I added in the middle. I also don't own the music. Now that thats out of the way,
I've been working on this for the past month. I honestly almost gave up but I had put so much work into it I wanted to finish it, and I'm so glad I did. It took me so long because I basically redrew half of it lol and made multiple edits and made sure the timing was on point because I'm a perfectionist. it's hard to watch this without anticipating the scene changing lol, you will not believe how many times I heard "She's imperfect" and "USED TO BEEE MIIIIIIINE" Lol. I tried to capture the raw emotion in my brain and I believed it worked.

Varian is the most abused character in this series. He lost his father. The only person he ever trusted (aka Rapunzel) refused to help him. He was scared, hurt, angry, jealous, and confused. I also think we forget how young he is because of his extreme smarts but he is only 14. I want hug him and never let him go no matter what he says, until he knows I will be there for him, as whatever he needs, a friend, a sister, an ally, a shoulder to cry on, a test experiment, or even someone for him to take his anger out on. It hurts me to see him hurting. I always had a crush on him. (You will get this next reference if you read PJO aka Percy Jackson) my godly parent is Selene, the Greek goddess of the moon, so when I heard the moon theory about Varian, I loved him even more. I will never stop loving him. I will always be there when he needs me.

I think that whole prison thing is just strange. I know that he's both kidnapped, stolen, almost murdered and committed treason, but still.
Varian is just a child who wanted his dad back, and you can't imprison someone for feeling grief. Especially not a 14 year old kid.

So the song seems to be about a guy describing "the one that got away" but your artwork seems to make it feel like it's a woman describing who she used to be, before she lost herself to pain. Was that intentional? Or am I just seeing something else there?

Honestly I’m down with both, I want home to be this big, scary antagonist but if he goes back to how he used to be I won’t complain. I freaking love this character basically lol.

I clicked on this knowing that it would hurt but I wasn't expecting it to break my heart ohhhhhhhhh this was wonderful, but so terribly heartwrenchingly sad and beautiful. And the contrast between Varian, so dark and lonely in his prison cell and the bubbly kid from the show???? And 1:52?????? Were so perfect and horrifying at the same time, I absolutely loved this!!
