Thank you for posting this video! My son crashed my Spark into a fence while flying in Sport mode. The drone had gimbal errors and the camera would not move on its own. The camera was tilted to the right at about 20 degree angle, the gimbal wheel did not work, nor did the hotkey for Gimbal Up/Down. I recalibrated the gimbal using your method and all errors cleared. Hey, I'm glad it was helpful for you. DJI assistant is required to make sure you have drivers installed on your computer to detect your spark. Some computers may already detect it without the software, some won't. Best practice is to follow exact instructions, so if anything goes wrong it's easier to troubleshoot.

Thank you for the detailed guide! I've to mention that the calibration failed for me for the first time, when I tried to perform it with low battery of the drone, and on a windows 7 pc. I got "result: UNSURE". Today I did it on a windows 10 computer with 100% battery on the DJI and it worked like a charm!
Holy Cow! Thanks mate it worked. I also accidentally crashed my drone after making some indoor footage of our company building.. Thought it might look cool to fly outside the window and enter on another window.... wasn't a very good idea. I also bought a spare gimbal camera and managed to replace it, but I saw it had trouble to properly align itself. Thanks for this guide, now my drone is as good as it was before and I don't had to send them in. Thanks a lot!!
I know, i tried to fly it in my house through a door from outside, the difference in light makes it go bonkers. Haha! Glad i was able to help mate. Cheers.
Thank you very much! I'm doing this in August 2021 on Windows 10 & it worked, with one difference. On mine, I had to run the first calibration until it passed. Then, turn the drone off, restart, then run the second one or it would not pass. Other than that, it went great. I'd like to see some more video like this for calibrating other things on the Spark if possible!
Thanks man I changed gimbal and it was keep left or right so follow your procedure and first 2 attempt it said test result unsure but in third try it passed and now gimbal work like charm.

This is a great video! Only problem for me is that i have a macbook and it’s hard to follow your steps because everything is different. So, unfortunately i still have a faulty spark with a tilted gimbal.

My drone also fell from a height after hitting the top of a tree and I can go to camera calibration on my phone and calibrate that -7.2 and it levels up but it seems the horizon gets out of horizontal when I am flying sometimes it’s because of the angle of the drone when I am cruising all the wind but could it be also because the camera needs recalibrating with these files, it recognises me and sits straight when I use it in hand gesture mode

Also when I copied og firmware tools it wouldn’t copy and paste for some reason so I just typed it and it worked perfectly sir, at the very end with the LinearHall command I was like, cmon cmon cmon and it worked so good. Hi an amazing video. Same problem, camera gimbal at an angle in Roll axis. I have done everything as per your video, but have got stuck when I reach cd C:\spark\dji-firmware-tools-master.zip\dji-firmware-tools-master, thus path I copied, I keep getting the notification "The system cannot find the path specified". I have copied the part exactly how you doing. However, I have a new motherboard, rather it is a used one I purchased from ebay and shipped from UK, cause the old one would make the Spark spin like a tip once it lifted off. Now with this motherboard, the Spark is flying good, but the camera is tilted. So I needed to calibrate the camera, and now I am stuck again. Hope there is some solution to this. I am now at C:\Spark\pyserial-3.5> as every time I past the next path and enter, it says path not found and comes back to this line. One more diff I noticed is that, when I connect the Spark with USB to laptop, I do not get the sound from laptop that indicates that a usb device is connected after I power on the Spark. I head that sound in your video. Does that mean the Drivers are also not installed ? Cause with those computer sound you also say that probably the drivers are being installed. Wish I could send you a screen shot of my laptop where I am stuck. The Spark does power up with front leds solid Red and rear leds flashing Yellow. Also on the laptop, in Device Manager, I dont see any Ports Icon, So I guess the Spart is not being detected by computer. Looks like things are more complicated. And it is not possible for me to send Spart to a Service Centre outside India, as when it is sent back to me, the Customs will never clear it.

Great video, so much help. Two notes, I struggled to open the pyserial file at first. I ended up unzipping using 7zip and had to unzip the first file and then a second file in order to get to the folder with the setup.py file. Secondly, you need to have the dji assistant application closed while calibrating. I did not at first and kept receiving an error saying that I did not have permission to run the calibration.

Если что-то непонятно, то в личке поясню)). Далее у меня все откалибровалось, но осталась ошибка 40011. Вот с этим я пока не разобрался. Дело в том, что в диспетчере устройств порт при подключении дрона появляется на короткое время и обмен осуществляется не полностью. Very good tutorial and easy to follow. So from what I understand, you changed the complete gimbal and it wasn’t being recognised by the Spark. Is that correct? I have an issue with a Mavic Pro with a similar problem. Installed a new gimbal pcb board and gimbal. The video link works but I cannot move the gimbal at all using the controller.
Hi, The gimbal housing broke, the gimbal and camera was working just fine. After I replaced the housing (plastic cover/case), it was crooked. It did not point straight. I did this calibration in order to fix the gimbal orientation. For your mavik pro, did you try to move the gimbal using the dji app controls? If it is not moving at all it may be a hardware issue. Also, there's a gimbal calibration option for mavik pro in the dji app, have you tried that?
Bilal Raybrig hi tag Hi thanks for that I tried moving gimbal with the controller and not the app. But controller works so not controller issue. That’s why I think it’s a faulty pcb board. But I have three that do the same so that’s why I thought maybe required programming.

Hi Todd, thanks for your comment. I'm sorry it didn't work for you, I have no idea about any updates, maybe try again with a different usb port/pc/usb cable? Sometimes these could be the reason of failure. I hope you succesfully find a fix.
What is the Firmware that your DJI has? I try to Calib but fails, just stops at the middle of the process and the gimball stop working until restart the drone.
I do not have the DJI anymore. I had to sell it recently. And I did not note the firmware when I fixed mine. Maybe try a different USB cable and/or USB port?

Hey mate, not sure why that's coming up. What windows are you using? Did you run everything as administrator? Maybe try again on a different pc (carefully follow the video step by step).. i hope it works out for you mate.
**Just an update I did it today *** It worked for me on windows 7 Windows 10 isn’t working with the (COM#) or the device manager because the drivers won’t install on windows 10 pro I think you’ll need a windows 7 Doesn’t work with windows 10 or windows 8/8.1

Thanks! At first attempt the result was UNSURE. I have to re-plugin the spark and run the whole steps again.

Hi, I don't know what that would mean. Maybe try a different usb port on your computer. Different port or usb cables sometimes seems to do the trick.

hi. i get to the com port and have a problem. my drone is creating an F: drive instead of a comp port. any suggestions.
Right click where it says F: and click details. It should tell you location, then port #
Is there any way to reset the process?

Hi Todd, thanks for your comment. I'm sorry it didn't work for you, I have no idea about any updates, maybe try again with a different usb port/pc/usb cable? Sometimes these could be the reason of failure. I hope you succesfully find a fix.

What is the Firmware that your DJI has?
I try to Calib but fails, just stops at the middle of the process and the gimball stop working until restart the drone.
I do not have the DJI anymore. I had to sell it recently. And I did not note the firmware when I fixed mine. Maybe try a different USB cable and/or USB port?

Hey mate, not sure why that's coming up. What windows are you using? Did you run everything as administrator? Maybe try again on a different pc (carefully follow the video step by step).. i hope it works out for you mate.

It worked for me on windows 7
Windows 10 isn’t working with the (COM#) or the device manager because the drivers won’t install on windows 10 pro
I think you’ll need a windows 7
Doesn’t work with windows 10 or windows 8/8.1
