- Early in their adventure, Valere, Zale, and Garl meet a group of friendly pirates, who it turns out also form an excellent bardcore band! Whether on the boat or in taverns throughout the world of Sea of Stars, they'll always be there to lighten the mood with their tunes.
Reece Miller was brought on the project to record accoustic versions of some of the game's music tracks and turn our pirate crew into a live action jukebox!

Supposedly, each individual instrument on these versions can be on or off, depending on who in the pirate crew is able to play at the moment. Can't wait to play some Wheels!
If you talk to one of them while they play, their instrument will be cutoff for the duration of the conversation, this is genius

Hah! So this one was composed by Eric after all. My guess was that it was 100% Mitsuda's and someone specifically asked him for a Chrono Cross callback.
Anyway, congrats to Sabo members, the composers and whoever the ~15 people doing the beautiful cartoon scenes were! This is now 2 top tier games in 2 totally different genres, both on the first try.
I'm having a blast so far and think this definitely belongs on the same shelf with the classics (or in my case the same box in the attic). All the high scores you guys are getting are justified and I hope the game sells like hotcakes and we see many more Sabo games.
Imma be drifting off to these tunes on some days...
What a beauty of a soundtrack this game has.
After playing The Messenger, I was moved enough to go into this game without the slightest clue as to what it was. 8 hours in, I still can't believe how good it is; a group of people really got to make their dream SNES/GBA RPG.
The only thing, and I mean the only thing, that frustrated me about the pirate band was that I couldn't see the names of the tracks! They were all listed as 'Track 01' and such which was a shame but that is such a minor gripe when I compare how much I loved the rest of the implementation. The band's sound fades a little bit and sounds muffled when you head upstairs at the inn in Lucent? Brilliant! The changes to the music that happen when you interrupt one of the members of the band while they are playing? The attention to detail is outstanding and I'm usually so oblivious to music in videos games it's twice as impressive. This game was so fantastic for somebody in their 30's with nostalgia that if my French wasn't so bad as to be offensive I'd have instantly tried to move out east to beg for a job mopping the studio floors!
Imagine if the devs were daring enough to implement a shittyflute version of the tracks that plays only if your version of the game is pirated
Been playing the game all day on PS5. My wife started humming the mountain trail song all of the sudden! Then we watched this video together.

This game is awesome. I love that, despite the fact it is a turn-based game, there is still some skill required to perfectly time the attack in defence of moves, as well as some strategy. It keeps you on your toes and makes you pay attention to every single random encounter. The difficulty of the game feels perfectly balanced as well, it’s not frustratingly difficult, but it’s not a walk in the park either.

This is my game of the year. Which is saying a lot when my all time favorite franchise Zelda released one of their best games Tears of the Kingdom.
