- Not sure it was a series as such. 4 minute ep's that were included in
the half-hour shows 'Charlie Brooker’s Weekly Wipe', I think.
Anyway I've compiled them into two 30 minute collections.
Pt 01 (Eps 1-8);
00:00 - Time
04:21 - Crime
07:54 - Evolution
11:13 - Computers
15:19 - Money
19:02 - Churchill & WWII
23:00 - Philosophy
26:31 - Climate Change
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Part 02 (Eps 9-15) is here;
• Philomena Cunk - Momen...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I just came across this which gives a bit of background to the evolution of the character;
• Cunk on Character - เพลง
Does anyone else just adore the existence of this human?! 🤗
More entertaining than most documentaries 😅
She makes me laugh so much.
Yep, I do
She is a goddess!
I love, Phil
If they made a million of these, I would watch them all.
Late, but I agree xDD
Same
Imagine being an academic and being so excited you are going to be on a BBC documentary and you stay up late researching just for Cunk to walk in and ask what a chair is haha
"1 in 20 people has been a victim of crime which means that 19 out of 20 people are criminals. No wonder we need police" -indeed 🤣🤣🤣
Check ur maths
Check your spelling@@sherwoodsmallidge9186
😂😂😂
When police are the criminals, then what?
@@simplylethul 6:25 It's complicated question, even the experts can't figure it out 😆
Her conversation with philosophy lady was quite genuinely deep, philosophers are the one profession who will never be rattled by 'stupid' questions
blah blah blah
Yeah, like car salesmen
@@YuckFoutube-e1zdisingenuousness doesn’t become you !
That’s so funny because his explanation of time was really good and she just looks back at the camera hahahah
The faces she makes are so funny, like a child trying to figure out if you are pulling their leg xD
"Next time, Ill be finding out where our laps go when we stand up".
So many funny one-liners!
3:45 The look back kills me every time lmao
Like, wtf is this guy on about
She is without a doubt, the funniest woman on earth!❤
Great character, acting and awesome delivery. That's how comedy is at it's finnest.
2nd only to Catherine Tate
@@wolftales5203 Katherine was just annoying honestly, reminds me of a council estate mom trying too hard to be funny. Cunks comedy is a special kind of stupid logic that most people wouldnt have thought about in such ways regarding any such topics which is alot smarter than "Am i bOtHeReD??" from Kath
My favorite line: "Hello, Science Man. Who are you?"
how am I just now watching this? she is the most brilliant comedian I have seen in a long time.. this should be prime time #1 spot
Mandy is funny too.
She's really brilliant because she presumably comes up with her comments in response to the experts off-the-cuff. She doesn't know what they're going to say so she has to think fast.
Yes, I would think there's a lot of improv' involved...
You know that the people being interviewed are aware that this is a skit
@@markokevro7311 I don't think they're fully aware, but in any event it works all the same so it doesn't really matter.
@@wirewehear7254 I meant as, they are aware of her personality but not what she is about to say
@@markokevro7311 See the previous comment by josephmartin5483, I reckon he's pretty much summed it up. As for the experts, I'm sure they're aware that she's not the run of the mill type interviewer they might be used to, but I think their incredulity is genuine. They're not actors so if their reactions were staged I'm certain it would show.
Her dry humor while staring right into the camera without a hint of smile is so funny.
She is a great lecturer, so much wisdom and dignity. 😊
I love P Cunk. Just brilliantly delivered. I love the experts. They are all having the best time
I'm not sure the experts are in on the gag. That's half the fun of it, their perplexed expressions & exasperated sighs.
@@wirewehear7254they are in on the gag, to a certain extent. They are told to expect any questions and to answer in the name of education and not to be judgemental... Or something like that. They definitely do their best, that's for sure!
@@wirewehear7254 They've been told it's a comedy (as confirmed by Diane Morgan in an interview). But they may not know the exact format, or exactly what type of comedy it is.
@@Unknown-jt1jo Your remark prompted a quick investigation & you're correct. They talk about this in the BFI Q&A at 8.23 min's; th-cam.com/video/uZ-5eOD57Ss/w-d-xo.html
Nevertheless the show works just fine either way, so it doesn't really matter how much they're in on it.
@@wirewehear7254 :) in general, for things to appear natural on tv, some form of rehearsal is needed...
in an interview on a late night show in the US she talked about how some of her guests/real-world experts couldn't maintain character and they would laugh during filming (understandably so).
scripts were written for each episode (she is a co-writer of the show) but improv was also deployed.
the guests were advised to answer the questions as if they were talking to an infant and some became huge fans of the show promoting it on their personal sm accounts :}
The Shroud of Turing! Brilliant. Thank you Philomena for all the hilarity.🥰🥰🥰
25:00 Oh my god you can just see her going through all the different answers in her head as she finally decides to answer with "yes"🤣🤣
'You've got lovely warm hands'.
Right up through my middle bits
"Many of those rules, like killing and gravity, are still used by God today, even though God's dead." 😂😂
God isn’t dead, just hiding out of embarrassment.
Philomena Cunk, you are the most logical woman I've ever encountered! Cheers!
some say, the only
The patience and willingness to explain and expand on the various subjects by the experts are what makes the series work!
“Turing’s shroud” 😆
I am ever grateful for this stuff.

So glad this came up she kills me with her sarcasm. Brilliant approach to comedy
Glad you're enjoying it.
All of these experts answering her so seriously....laughing so hard...no lol or rfol or whatever cannot describe my laughter

@@stephenclark9594 i remember when i thought she was an actual bbc4 presenter and saw a clip of cunk on shakespeare and thought what the hell lol. I try to get everyone to watch it
I think she's even funnier to Americans, because we're primed to assume anyone with a RP British accent is smart.
Well she's not speaking in an RP English accent, she's using her own voice, a regional Northern accent (she's from Bolton, near Manchester), very much not RP. When the character was originally created it was proposed that she would give Philomena an RP accent, which on paper makes perfect sense. But Morgan instinctively knew that It would work better in her own voice, and she was right.
@@wirewehear7254 Ah, OK, which shows my point even better. We basically think any British accent (other than Cockney or the Northern accents that even English people find incomprehensible) sound smart and sophisticated.
@@suedenimnever knock a cockney they invented a whole different way of talking with rhyming slang and also back slang which is tough, put it this way if prince harry was bright enough to speak it he wouldn't use a silly word like todger he would called it a Brighton rock 😉🏴
@@Lady.B.ellinor4971 Reading this paragraph, I'm almost convinced that Britain is a foreign country or something.
@@suedenim Read something by Daniel defoe or Shakespeare written in old English 😁 the truth is I think we love words.

I just adore her! She asks the questions I've been wondering. Thanks, Philomena! ♥

The Daily Show correspondents meet Steven Wright in a British bar. Her stuff is timeless.
I’d like to see Philomena ask Siri questions
And answer them.
Great idea! 👏😁
This must be among the first philomena cunk material, because it has gotten a lot better than this, even though I really like this too
From tricky Wiki; The character first appeared in a regular segment on Charlie Brooker's Weekly Wipe (2013-2015).
From a review of series 2 of Charlie Brooker's Weekly Wipe on IMDB; Barry Shitpeas and Philomena Cunk return with
their talking head contributions. This section is expanded as Cunk gets her own section called Moments of Wonder.
So it would seem Cunk & Barry first appeared in 2013 & 'Moments of Wonder' in 2014.
- I have compiled the former here;
