@Lugmillord I was thinking maybe you could've added a green warp pipe to that area that leads to the castle grounds, and added one of those pushable create boxes (that have these red edges on them) somewhere near the entrance shown at 0:31 and put a purple switch on top of it that can activate time boxes leading up to the pipe, or maybe you could've added a wing cap box near the koopa shell box and people could fly their way down to the entrance to the path area and fly to the left of the entrance and avoid hitting the walls and fly up to the pipe leading to the castle grounds, that's one way the area could've been used. I just came up with that suggestion you could've done because in the original Super Mario 74 you had an secret area in Bowser's Crystal Palace that had a pipe leading to the castle grounds, maybe that's how you could've used this area in extreme edition.
