Can this tool be used on satin fabric? Also, could I draw my design on parchment paper, lay it on top of the gold foil and trace my design with the quill tool? I want to make a Victorian style trinket box with a lid, and I want to put my friend's name on satin on the inside of the lid.

Are you using the correct foil? You must use type of foil that is meant to work with the foil quill. Other foils will work a bit, but not be as successful. (I've used the wrong stuff by accident and it really matters!) I hope this helps!
