It's almost impossible for me to listen to this song without crying, as I have the same disability Tim's brother has. I have no problems with my disability at all but this pushes some buttons, and the flood opens.........

Although I loved everyone of Floors performances on this show the one that still sticks out is ‘Vilja Lied’. The first time the others had seen the ‘metal singer’ actually sing. Their faces as they were probably expecting growling etc and she performs an opera aria.

I agree with you, Dominika (sorry if I didn't write your name right). Floor is somehow conforting. With Nightwish she has this Valkerie metal goddes look but the way she sings makes you feel safe. Even when she sings more aggressive or more emotional songs, at the end you always think that everything will be ok. I don't know how she does that, maybe is something about her persona that shines through the music. At least this is how I feel when I listen to her.

Floor never ceases to amaze me. Just when I think I have heard it all from her, she blows me away once again. I am definitely going to be a life long Floor fan for sure! I really feel that it would be very fitting, one day, for her to be honored by being inducted into one of the music halls of fame as one of the most talented and powerful vocalists of all time. Heck, considering that she can sing literallly anything that is put in front of her, shwe could probably be inducted into serveral different music halls of fame. I love watching people react to the Ghost Love Score performance from Wacken 2013. By the end of the performance, most of these people are either crying happy tears, have to pick up their jaw off the floor or they just sit there stunned and completely speechless. Watching those first timers never gets old. I would think it would be fair to say that most of these people very quickly realize that they are in the presence of greatness.

The first song she sang was on the first night of the show and everybody was singing to the older gentleman on the couch, Henk Poort. Floor sang Vilja Lied because his mother used to sing it to him when he was a boy and I think only one person had heard Floor sing before then and when she sang that song they were all Floored (no pun intended). Watch the video of that song with subtitles. It shows them sitting on the couches and talking before (and after) Floor gets up to sing and she explains why she did the show and why she is not very popular in her home country. Very informative. AVROTROS doesn't show any of the talking before any of the singers get up to sing.

At the beginning of this show non of the others who are also singers/writer didn't have a clue who floor was didn't know what symphonic metal was not done in the Netherlands more folk type music, floor sings with the emotions needed for the individual songs because she feels it that's what makes her great God bless

The singers perform each other songs (often with a twist and as a form of tribute) (and no! competition). In the same show she also sings an ancient Austrian song (Vilja Lied). Worth a watch. Every single song Floor did on this show was great. The recommendations made (of Floor in Beste Zangers) to you were the "popular" songs (ie Shallow), however, I especially liked Mama, Que' Se Siente (Spanish), Vilja Lied (German), Winner (written by Tim Akkerman as noted in previous comment), I don't know a thing about love. These are rearrangements (the band helped a lot with these) with a little "metal" or "grit" in them performed by Floor. I think if you watch all of the solo performances of Floor on this show you get several new dimensions of her talent.

Since they all come from different genres they adapt the songs or completely step out of their comfort zone. The cross-overs that emerge really are the best. In this season You have Floor (Symphonic metal) Henk (Opera/musical), Tim (Hard Rock), Samantha (Dutch Folk), Ruben (Singer-Songwriter), Emma (contemporary), Rolf (Salsa-pop).

the format of the show is very simple - there are invited singers with different music styles - and every week one artist is in the spot - - that will stay on the main couch - and all the others sing to the spoted artist, songs from the spotted artist repertoire in their own way as a tribute to that spotted artist - and this will rotate for all the singers (that will go on the spot - main couch) - and in the end of the show they will make some duets....
Most of us prefer her with Nightwish but this is such a great bonus where we see other sides of Floor.

The show is not a contest. They put together a group of singers from different genres and ask them to sing songs for each other that are of great significance to that person; their first hit, a song that inspired them to become a singer, a song they wrote for someone special. Since they all come from different genres they adapt the songs or completely step out of their comfort zone. The cross-overs that emerge really are the best.
In this season You have Floor (Symphonic metal) Henk (Opera/musical), Tim (Hard Rock), Samantha (Dutch Folk), Ruben (Singer-Songwriter), Emma (contemporary), Rolf (Salsa-pop).
No-no-no, we would never do that. Pick anything from this show(including the
other artists) and you will not be disappointed....
You should also check out her version of "Vilja Lied", a song from a german opera, which she was singing for Henk Poort (the older bald guy). It was the first time, these people (and many at home on tv) heard Floor, and it was also the very start of that season.

Lovely reaction. Love your guys interaction. Others have told you how the show works and that this song was written by Tim Akkeerman. Echo others who mentioned Vilja Lied, Shallow, and Phantom of the Opera with Shallow being my first choice. Also really like some of the songs by the other artists including Strong by Emma Heesters, sung for Floor (song written by Floor about her Mom's battle with Rheumatoid Arthritis) and Samantha Steenwuk singing Nightwish's Our Decades in the Sun for Floor.
