Beautiful cover, love the pace. Just started learning this song myself and hearing how beautifully you play it at a slightly slower speed than a lot of other people on TH-cam is inspiring! How long did it take you to learn and perfect this piece?
Very impressive, Anna. I've been working on this exclusively for 18 months. I'm almost there. Well… not really. I finally learned the last section about 6 weeks ago and it's going to take time to get it smooth. But a couple more months I swear!😏 What really got me was the end of what I call the 1st section of your performance. How distinctly you hit that rapidly repeated E note. I've watched dozens renditions of this on TH-cam and only seen a couple can manage it in a way that my ear can follow and know it's not just slurred through. Well done! I heard enough split second pauses between difficult parts to know you are real and not some unearthly virtuoso.... yet. Which made those E notes and final section all the more 👏❤️. When I decided I really wanted to play this I thought those E notes would be impossible. You may have done them better than Patrick 😛
18 months wow... how long have you been playing piano for? I didnt think the piece played too hard although I haven't started learning yet. Maybe I'm wrong. I'd love your input
@@squebleblaskum I didn't play instruments as a child. But I sang. I did have 2 months of piano when I was 10 so I learned how to find the notes from the music sheets on the keyboard. I actually got OK on the guitar mandolin and penny whistle in my thirties. And then when I was about 48 I started playing the piano at work during breaks. It took me about a month and a 1/2 to learn to play and sing my 1st song on the mandolin. The 2nd song took a week. The 3rd a couple days and after that… pretty easy. I thought that would happen with the piano. Negative. I only play one day a week now. People are amazed that I can play without music. But it's no trick when it takes a 1000 times through with the music to learn how to play the song🤣. It takes me about a year to learn a really nice song. If you are at all like a traditionally devoted piano player and younger it might be much quicker for you. I enjoy the process.
Masterful!!!! I’m literally in the process of learning this exact piece and am currently about halfway through it. So this is exactly what I’m working towards. This sounds great - hope to play it this well soon!

@@hideout3700 Magnus is absolutely amazing. I think I've actually heard this before. I find I actually prefer the simpler versions for listening. Something is just a bit over the top for me. But of all the versions that bring unique ornamentation to the table this is one of the better ones.

I learnt the last part, but can’t seem to get it to sound like that… it’s so frustrating!
