Love the graphics but just a little on the edge with the execution of the new art style. Every character model I’ve seen seems to have this sharp eye whereas it’s an entirely different case in their art. Freya, for example, has round eyes in her art but her character model has sharp cat-like eyes. Hopefully it’s just because it’s early in development 🤞
I’m really looking forward to the Kickstarter. I have the other two My Time games but I’ve never backed their Kickstarters; I hope they have an artbook tier.
OH MYH GOD! I love the character designs! Finally something that looks less cartoony. I love the realistic body proportions. The idea of being able to customize the whole town is AMAZING. I can't wait.

This looks awesome! The aesthetic upgrade was very necessary. Combat looks more fluid and fast paced. Town building is going to really get those creative juices flowing! I can't wait to get my hands on this title!!
I don't know about the new art style... I'm not up in arms about it, the game looks very pretty, it's just that now this game looks. So. Generic. The other art style had a lot of character, originality, and a uniqueness that made it stand out and look recognizable. Like you had mentioned in the video, if someone took a screenshot from this game and said it was Palia, I'd believe them. It just feels so... copy and paste, I guess. Nice, but. An "everyman" type of style. That aside, I'm still very excited! The story of My Time at Sandrock really captivated me, and I enjoyed every bit of it. If the writing is going to be just as good for Evershine, I'm all in! Definitely willing to back this!
I feel the exact same way about it. I am not the biggest fan of all cutesie bobblehead art styles and I struggled a bit with the artstyle of Portia in the beginning. Sandrock hit the spot for me. The new characters look nice, but they also have too much of a "Final Fantasy" feel about them. Most people on Reddit and in the YT comments point that out as a positive, but I am not a fan of this style. That being said, I will still play the everliving sh** out of this game. The My time series is my favourite franchise right after The Legend of Zelda :)
I love the new Graphics OMG! Im a HUGE fan of the first 2 games and i dint mind the comic/chibi style characters but this is so much more to my prefered style! The lore and world building in the my time franchise is some of the best in the entire gaming industry. I am extremely excited for a new title in the franchise.
Thanks for sharing this Josh! I’m also very excited about Evershine. I’ve really enjoyed Portia and Sandrock and your review pointed out enough potential differences in Evershine that it makes me wish it were ready now😂
Evershine looks amazing! I’m really like the realistic but still cartoony style and based on what I read it’s going to be so interesting! Hopefully the next Nintendo console can actually run it! 😄

Good observation, I'm pretty sure that's her just with a different outfit! I forgot a lot about the lore & characters but it looks like we'll have a ton of returning ones, so it could be worth replaying the previous games.
@@lordsamuel9548 Wasn't it more like in the middle of Sandrock when Avery showed up? Happy to see he got an upgrade for the new game :) And for the lady, my hope is that this might be a relative to Logan since in Sandrock people were gossiping about Logans weird white hair as if this was something very special. I can't wait for the game! I am definitely backing this in Kickstart once it starts. I don't mind the potentially different gameplay as long as the story and quests are the same quality as My Time at Sandrock!
I can't wait to pay. I've played both. The developer care about suggestions players make. They also keep updating their content keeping us coming back. I'll support any games they put out. And I'm so happy I can donate to the Kickstart this time.
I am for the crowdfunding! It may seem strange since they're doing well but by contributing we're able to influence more of the game and hold them accountable for what we expect. That is why I like crowdfunding. The higher the percent to the goal and reaching stretch goals really goes to show you anticipated and how high the bar is raised for the game!
Same here. I'm happy to pony up for early access, bonuses like the fennec fox (sadly didn't back Sandrock) and opportunities to vote. I'm helping shape the game, that appeals to me.
I wish the gliders were more like the ones we saw Logan and Haru use as it's already part of the world and less like every other games' glider since Breath of the Wild. I didn't pledge for either Portia or Sandrock, but my love of the improvements from Portia to Sandrock has me so excited that I pledged to have early access to the game. I just hope home decorating is better in Evershine and can't wait to see the story impact that Logan and the Sandrock builder will have from the stretch goal on kickstarter. I am so hype!
I like both art styles so I don't know how to feel about the changes past it feels a little odd how drastically the art changed but besides that I can't wait. I'm a little hesitant at the idea of building a town but I'll probably get use to things.(I'm still getting use to some of Portia's stuff cause I had to put it on hold for a while) I remember watching another person talk about this, Avery is apparently a fan favorite so people are excited he makes a return after not getting to interact with him much nor make friends with him in Sandrock, made better by him being a bachelor. There's also guesses going off some art that Aadit from the first game might show up due to a mystery character that's in the art.
Well, idk abt upgrades tho (the big head model kinda grew into me lol), but it sure has a unique style Edit: 1:12 UPGRADE. DEFINITELY AN UPGRADE, HOOLYYYY
i love the my time games! change is difficult for me and i did really like the cartoonish styles in portia and sandrock but evershine looks beautiful!!
i prefer the old style. this new style is good but every game and their mother uses this kind of style. at least with the old one i knew i was playing a my time game. they could've tweaked the old style if they really wanted to, made adjustments. i won't be mad but im just. kind of disappointed? also big agree about the glider thing. like i don't know what every sandbox games obsession with the glider is. this is botw's fault LOL and it wasn't even the first zelda that DID a "glider". either way, im still going to enjoy playing my time at evershine when it releases!
Hard agree on the art style, but at the same time the style change got my friend excited to play and she never wanted to before because the style was "too silly", so, this has a wider appeal I guess. I just hope they keep the whimsy and fun in the writing! (Disagree on the glider tho 😂 they've already had mentions of gliders as part of the world lore, specifically for Highwind area, and I'm pretty sure with the PC being from Highwind in Sandrock players were sad they didn't get their gliders too. This just feels like a choice for an already established world building.)
@@Daria-gd8wr I'm the same as your friend. I literally decided to give the series a chance now because of the art style. The style of the other two were a huge turn off so I even forgot the franchise existed until this one came out. If I'm gonna romance characters I want them to look grown and not like children, as a grown woman myself.
This art style is beautiful!! I've been following the My Time series since Portia was announced, but I never bought Portia or Sandrock due to the way the characters looked as I thought immersion would be difficult, but this new style definitely makes me want to pick up Evershine!
I love this art change! While you could get the female PC in the other two games to look somewhat mature, the poor male PC never looked older than about thirteen!
I cant wait for this ❤❤i love the series i spent 250 hours on sandrock and 215 hours on portia i loved the story the characters and romancable characters
It looks interesting, but the gameplay itself is a little bit confusing right now to figure out until we get more info from the Devs. Besides that I'm looking forward to playing it. Great vid. Thanx for letting us know.
The biggest thing for me is how green it is. That’s huge. I could NOT get into Sandrock and I tried a number of times. Too much desert themes going on. Don’t ask me why, I just need some greenery.
I am planning on taking part in the kickstarter. I am trying not to think about it too much. I am sort of saddened by the change in art style. Sandrock had a good balance for me, and now it might get a bit too generic. I think the building aspect will need to stay in some capacity, or they will have to rethink the gameplay too much. It wouldn’t feel like a “My Time At” if you aren’t building stuff yourself. I expect it more that we will have more responsibilities, rather than less. Apparently we also get to choose who is moving into Evershine, which makes me nervous. There will definitely be some Duvos spies trying to infiltrate. I am planning to help my mum get into My Time At Sandrock, so I am thinking we will probably have a co-op game together for this. 😂 Anyway, by the time this comes out I may have completed enough play throughs of Sandock. 😅 I plan to have a save file to romance Logan, Fang, Nia, Mi-an, Unsuur, and maybe Amira, just because of my choice in Wylde Flowers. 😂
I’m definitely backing this up and I don’t mind the kickstarter cause if like it’s bonus money for bonus content. I like their big heads and usually art style, the new art is kind of generic but still pretty.
I'm so excited for this! I backed Sandrock way back when and am definitely gonna be backing Evershine, too! I think the art style still looks very much like Pathea's style, just with better proportions, which I'm happy about. I'm super interested in the city building aspect and am looking forward to hearing and seeing more about the marriage candidates. I'm wondering about Victor, since they're not showing him off yet. I just hope he's not just like ...Evershine-version of Logan. I love Logan, but i'd rather Victor be more unique lol.
i've only gotten to play portia but i've really enjoyed my time with it!! i think sandrock had my ideal artstyle it looked still cartoony but "prettier" i'm a lil meh about the realistic proportions in this new game
I am not so sure about the new direction with the character design, though the rest seems great. Also if I am not mistaken Sandrock was their first attempt to make Portia multiplayer as they did try to get mp and the story mode work together but that didn't work out so they made it a different and separate mode. So I hope they can nail it and pull it off this time, I will pick it up once it releases in Early Access on Steam. But I will not backup on Kickstarter. As I still haven't forgotten how they dropped support for their first game Planet Explorers, though they proven with the previous "My Time At" that they are now in a much better state to successful l create a fun and working game.
personally i like how the characters look more then the playable characters in sandrock mainly because when we played our character in the game it was too strange, too kid like and didnt look their age which also for me anyway made it too weird to date certain characters in my time at sandrock and i was trying to be motivated to play it after the story but i just simply couldnt get into it,hopefully in the new game or when it gets release as early access the character customization will be alot better including more options like height slider ,etc , otherwise this looks even more promising then their last games.
I've been playing games in this genre since Harvest Moon DS: Cute, so it's been nearly 20 years. I like the new art style, but I've always had a soft spot for the old one because it reminds me of the classic Harvest Moon games - cartoony, unrealistic, and all the characters look young. My all-time favorite game is Harvest Moon: Animal Parade and Tree of Tranquility, and I wish they would remake it. I'm not a fan of multiplayer; I prefer it to be a separate component. Instead, I hope they put more time into developing the characters, rival romances, rival children, and children who actually feel like they contribute to the game world. The games have always felt a bit strange to me because you don't see the population grow; there are very few children and almost no new ones. It feels like the towns need to grow and evolve. For example, the school mission in Sandrock felt odd because there were only two kids of school age, plus Pebbles. I don't mind people having to marry every romancable character, but I'd like to see more focus on other aspects of the games. I don't divorce my spouses; I just start over and end up with someone new. I love multiple playthroughs.
I’m torn! I love the character design but I’m wondering if that means we won’t see any of the characters from the previous games. I thought it was cool we got to interact with characters from Portia in Sandrock, so I’m curious to see how they would handle meshing the art styles for that.
I don’t mind the gliders. One thing I would love to see changed is riding animals. With all the technology I feel like riding a bicycle would be more ethical for the world and just plain cooler. It also teaches mindfulness and Anti-Cruelty. 😅
I have been following since Portia so I most likely will be backing this (as i wasnt able to in the past) though im sad that its not one of the free cities (im so curious about atara, barnarock and highwind!). As someone who played the beta i do know there is some story to be told but the artstyle change is a lot. Wish they could have more of a happy middle ground with it. Regardless, i'll be waiting and seeing what happens next and what the Kickstarter will look like
I'm in team Sandrock art style. It was a refinement from Portia and it could have improved but this is a change in direction that makes the game seem a bit generic. However, I will back them for sure because the My Time games are amazing
Sandrock was perfectly fine, but i couldn´t get over how freaking tiny builder is. When romancing one of the bigger bachelors, it is really, really weird to me.
I’m not gonna lie, I’m not too excited with this mainly because there still many problems with My Time At Sandrock. The previous game is still riddled with bugs, some still around since its release, and yes that includes the multiplayer. I do like the artstyle, a welcome change, but I personally like the style in Sandrock better.
While I'm stoked for the game and will be backing it I can't get myself to like the new character designs, the world looks right but the characters just don't feel like they fit for me. had they been used in another game I wouldn't care.
I love my time games, but i quite didn't like the model design in Portia, even though I enjoy playing it. Now I'm hoping the keep improving their models design
I wonder if they will clear up about the Ai even if they're using it as references as those are still stolen. The trailer reminds me of Palia since that was our first "cozy" open world game so it's natural people will be comparing Evershine with it. Don't absolutely love this new art style as it's more modern and reminds me on Inzoi/Infinity Nikke/Palia, etc but I really loved Portia and enjoyed Sandrock so I'll probably consider backing it up depending on the price. I do have faith in the dev team and I hope this art style they're going for is going to make them happy and fulfil their wish of it being more exposed to other players because that's the vibe I get of why they changed it so much was that Portia/Sandrock artstyle often was a negative reason why people didn't want to play. This is their third KS and I think it's fine they want another KS because Portia and Sandrock aren't live service games. Games require lots of time and money to make. Pathea is a medium sized company and have employees that needs to be paid. I also think they're going to continue with Sandrock free content updates and probably add another dlc or two to earn money. I'm very supportive of Pathea as they've always been clear on communication and the progress. I hope Evershine is another successful game of theirs!
There's definitely a trend going on with this art style. 😅 It looks great, just less unique. But yes, Pathea is a very good developer and I'm confident they'll do a great job once again! Just like you though I do hope they'll clarify the AI situation. Someone during stream the other day told me it was a misunderstanding and they never used it? That the response was from a PR person who had no idea. I don't know if that's true, but either way I hope they just stay away from AI.
@@JoshGamingGarden Yeah if I'm recalling correctly, the PR said something that made people blow up about it but someone came in cleared the info saying they used Ai as a reference which I think people aren't understanding that if Ai is being used as a reference, it's still stolen/art theft. They have a forum about it in the official server at the next my time section that you can dig up and read the pinned comments about it if you're interested!
They already cleared it up. All they used was some tools to do things like enhancing wrinkles and cleaning up bits of the images they had already created in house. It's not generative ai where it is creating the image just time saving tools to let the artists touch things up.
I didn't like the style of Portia too much but the gameplay. Sandrock was a lot better and I 'm really looking forward to Evershine. I hope it runs well on the Switch 2 since I prefer consoles but I got Sandrock for PC because of the poor performance :/
I'm going to miss the old artstyle. Not that the new one is bad (its pretty!) but the previous entries is just so stylistic and cartoony that its distinct from other game styles. Maybe I'll get used to this one as long as the variety of personalities are still there 😊
Agree with some of the comments. I prefer the two previous of the characters with big heads. Was kind of cute and original. This looks generics and with the colors and all seems more like a Palia game. Also if i am not a builder whats the point!! The cool fun thing and main theme of my time games is being a builder. Makes no sense
I never was interested in the game, largely because the character design made it look like an app game. It’s much more appealing looking now and I might check it out
"But the kickstarter will allow them to do a bit more" That is some wishful thinking. I love MTAP, and I've been playing it since it first released in EA, back when you could build the bridge to Amber Island, but not cross it. I never bought Sandrock, and I'm glad I didn't, seeing as it looks like they're giving it the Portia treatment: "finish" it, and move on. Portia lacks so much polish. I enjoy that there's so much content, but it just doesn't *look* finished to me. I do like it, and I don't regret buying it, but, ya know *gestures broadly* I'm currently not planning on buying Evershine either; Portia does have enough replayability that just the one game is enough for me. It does sadden me that I'll miss out on learning any lore (in-game) past Portia. With regard to the change in graphics, I don't like it. I'm not a big fan of the style in Portia, but the new design in Evershine looks like literally every other open world crafting game, and there are so so so so many of them.
I actually love the new character designs! A welcome change for me!
Actually love the new artstyle 😍

I can definitely see a similarity with Palia but I'm not complaining cus I do like Palia. I'm definitely keen to hear more about this game as we get more information in due time. Great video Josh!
I'm SO excited!!!! I can't wait!!!
It's refreshing to see a smaller studio hustling their games effectively. Looks great 💯🎮
I can't wait for the game! I am definitely backing this in Kickstart once it starts. I don't mind the potentially different gameplay as long as the story and quests are the same quality as My Time at Sandrock!
1:41 GYAAAAT
I can't wait to pay. I've played both. The developer care about suggestions players make. They also keep updating their content keeping us coming back.
I'll support any games they put out. And I'm so happy I can donate to the Kickstart this time.
interesting change in the character designs but very welcomed, i hope they expand on the world building and stuff you can do
I am for the crowdfunding!
Yeah I can't wait for this game. Looks so nice!
I like both art styles so I don't know how to feel about the changes past it feels a little odd how drastically the art changed but besides that I can't wait. I'm a little hesitant at the idea of building a town but I'll probably get use to things.(I'm still getting use to some of Portia's stuff cause I had to put it on hold for a while)
I remember watching another person talk about this, Avery is apparently a fan favorite so people are excited he makes a return after not getting to interact with him much nor make friends with him in Sandrock, made better by him being a bachelor. There's also guesses going off some art that Aadit from the first game might show up due to a mystery character that's in the art.
If Aadit shows up my Portia builder is going to want a word with him...
I'm glad they dropped the booblehead look. This game looks so good!
Well, idk abt upgrades tho (the big head model kinda grew into me lol), but it sure has a unique style
Edit:
1:12 UPGRADE. DEFINITELY AN UPGRADE, HOOLYYYY
I was surprised to see how the characters look.
i love the my time games! change is difficult for me and i did really like the cartoonish styles in portia and sandrock but evershine looks beautiful!!
The characters look less cartoonish, which is nice.
I'm certainly going to back the kickstarter! Whoo, hello hot red head!!!
I haven't played the previous two entries. This one peaks my interest.
I'm gonna miss the characters' big heads lol it was the franchise's charm... but anyways, excited for this new one!
I love the new character designs. The old ones looked so weird and like children
It looks how I imagine broken Pokémon games are supposed to look 👀
They're too busy suing successful competitors than fixing their games 😂
Right. Loved Scarlet/violet back then but every time I see a clip of the game it feels like a jumpscare. It's just... so ugly.
idk who needs to hear this, but there needs to be a meme for this game series, not because its bad. but because we can enjoy this until next "time" xD
i prefer the old style. this new style is good but every game and their mother uses this kind of style. at least with the old one i knew i was playing a my time game. they could've tweaked the old style if they really wanted to, made adjustments. i won't be mad but im just. kind of disappointed? also big agree about the glider thing. like i don't know what every sandbox games obsession with the glider is. this is botw's fault LOL and it wasn't even the first zelda that DID a "glider".
either way, im still going to enjoy playing my time at evershine when it releases!
Maybe this is a spoiler but after most of the story there is a lot of greenery in sandrock
I would hate it personally if they removed the crafting and machines aspect from it.
I just hope this will be playable on steamdeck with not too much sacrificing of quality
Its a 10 for me! Portia and Sandrock are amazing!
i've only gotten to play portia but i've really enjoyed my time with it!! i think sandrock had my ideal artstyle it looked still cartoony but "prettier" i'm a lil meh about the realistic proportions in this new game
This looks amazing! Praying theylll be able to bring it to Xbox Preview thatd be amazing!!!
I played the Project Alpha and there are lots of crafting mechanic, hopefully it will be implemented
24th is the kickstarter and i can not wait
Omgggg I need it nowwwww
I think it would be so funny if they met people from Portia in the game and they still looked like the original game
Oh my God! Did they HAVE to call the cute redhead guy Ragnar? My neighbour's dog is called Ragnar!
I saw this and got so excited!!! Then went to play sandrock because I only finished portia
I spent more then three hundred hours combined on Portia and Sandrock, cant wait for Evershine to push it past five hundred😂
I'm glad they switched from project me
I’m not gonna lie, I’m not too excited with this mainly because there still many problems with My Time At Sandrock.
Now I'm hoping the keep improving their models design
it looks like palia now!
@@CeliriaRose "We do use ai generated images, just like other screenshots, photos, and art pieces as references." This is what Zede says
Playing all the my time series remind me of my childhood where i played all the
harvest moon series. The only diff is the 💸💸💸
Who’s the red head……nice or character 😍🥰
Is it going to Nintendo switch and Nintendo switch 2 and other game consoles
I didn't like the style of Portia too much but the gameplay. Sandrock was a lot better and I 'm really looking forward to Evershine. I hope it runs well on the Switch 2 since I prefer consoles but I got Sandrock for PC because of the poor performance :/
I'm going to miss the old artstyle. Not that the new one is bad (its pretty!) but the previous entries is just so stylistic and cartoony that its distinct from other game styles. Maybe I'll get used to this one as long as the variety of personalities are still there 😊
can you make a review of shine hill in steam??
Agree with some of the comments. I prefer the two previous of the characters with big heads. Was kind of cute and original. This looks generics and with the colors and all seems more like a Palia game. Also if i am not a builder whats the point!! The cool fun thing and main theme of my time games is being a builder. Makes no sense
It looks similar to Palia.
At least, unlike story of seasons which for every new title they released, the weirder the townspeople's appearances and proportions😅
I never was interested in the game, largely because the character design made it look like an app game. It’s much more appealing looking now and I might check it out
When My time at meets Palia...
Hello Avery! OOF!
I do like it, and I don't regret buying it, but, ya know *gestures broadly*
I'm currently not planning on buying Evershine either; Portia does have enough replayability that just the one game is enough for me. It does sadden me that I'll miss out on learning any lore (in-game) past Portia. With regard to the change in graphics, I don't like it. I'm not a big fan of the style in Portia, but the new design in Evershine looks like literally every other open world crafting game, and there are so so so so many of them.
