Ironically while watching your videos at random this afternoon I watched your original life in willowdale video. From the way you can walk through everything I suddenly thought about a farming sim where you are a ghost who doesn’t realise he’s dead and the thing you need to do to move on and let go of your mortal life in fix your family farm/local village that is under threat from a corporation…I’m now getting really into this idea and imagining the head of the megacorp is also the head of a crime family whose goons killed you to get your farm.
I'd pay 30 bucks for an indie game with that concept in a heartbeat lol. I'm wondering about how NPC interactions would work, will all the villagers just be able to see ghosts? Or will there be ghosts that you can interact with while the still living cannot interact with you? Maybe you could have some guardian-angel-esque mechanics that allow you to help the villagers and they are appreciative of you, which in turn gives you more powers? Honestly, a really cool concept that can be expanded in so many ways
So would there be a farmer living on your old farm that you’re trying to help? Wait… this is stardew valley from the perspective of grandpa’s ghost…. No but actually imagine a really incompetent farmer moves onto your old farm and the corporation is confident that they’ll fail but you’re a ghost trying to teach them farming
I really hope that this turns into a series. Calling it “I played these games so you don’t have to” or something. These are legit some of my favorite videos on your channel 🤣🤣

That last game with how mindless it is reminded me of my hours and hours and HOURS of meticulous stressful planning i did whenever i played Harvest Moon: Island of Happiness. Genuinely the single most difficult farming sim out there in terms of just the farming itself. Can't save scum the weather and the crops are of higher quality the lower the sun/water points, having to gamble watering your crops of not, save scumming _every single day of Winter_ to have Wonderfuls available in the shop (that only appears if your INVISIBLE farm rank ends in 5 or 0) ((and the Wonderfuls are needed to do paddy farming or you have to keep swapping them out)), having to talk to the 100+ NPCs so they don't leave so you can successfully unlock seeds and animals that only unlock when you have four specific types of NPCs on the island, making sure not to let your rivals steal your love interest, but making sure the ones you _do_ want to get together actually do so... insanely stressful 10/10 i loved every second and do not recommend it.

Games using AI generated images just tells me the devs are lazy and didn’t put in any effort. I start wondering what else was ai generated, the textures? The writing? Why should I care about their game when they clearly didn’t?

Thank you so much!
That first one is like if I slapped a price tag on my proof of concept; that isn't a "game". All those asking prices are criminal. I can't speak for every game dev, but the reason some games might use two different buttons to move items could be because setting a single button/key for one player input (such as picking up the item in the inventory) was causing problems (perhaps items were being flung back into the original spot instead of being placed in the inventory) and the devs either couldn't figure out how to fix it or ran out of time (or didn't care). Most likely, they had some sort of spaghetti for a code/script (or they asked ChatGPT to make them a script) and it was just easier to create another player input than to adjust their UI element or actually know much scripting. Again, I'm just spitballing here. The game I'm making is a narrative story game and not a game which has an inventory system, so I only have a limited knowledge on creating one (I did learn about how to do it, but didn't have to actually use one for my game).
