Buckethead has expressed, in various interviews, that he really would like people to respect his anonymity. Apart from being his own videoclip, the character was created to separate ego from art: to let the music be the only thing that matters, instead of the person making it. It's very hard earned and very dear to him. Posting or making clips like these is a testimony of either ignorance or plain hate fueled stupidity.
Which is true? A. Guitarist Buckethead is 6’4” or shorter in his bare feet and he is extroverted and not shy. B. Guitarist Buckethead is 6’6” in his bare feet and he is very shy and introverted. Hint: Guitarist Buckethead is very tall. Lots of men are taller than 6’6” in their bare feet. I will only accept the fact that guitarist Buckethead is 6’4” or shorter in his bare feet if he is extroverted and not shy. I will only accept the fact that guitarist Buckethead is very shy and introverted if he is 6’6” in his bare feet. 🎭🩰🎨🥁🎸
It makes sense that he wears a mask. The man has some amazing skill. Looking at him from the picture, watching him play on stage he would just look like another famous guitarist. Instead, people see him and go "woah check out that guy hes good". It probably helped contribute to his success.
It's hard to compare different eras. Hendrix was a pioneer; no one else at the time sounded like him; he played sounds no one had even dreamed of before. We've had forty years to catch up with him, so Buckethead has those roots to draw on. One doesn't have to suck for the other one to be great.
Don't you know Buckethead's a robot. That's what's going on with his finger. The extended robotic pinkie didn't last long, as it freaked to many people out.
I have that one too.. it was Guitar Player magazine in the Mike Varney Spotlight towards the back.. I also have a dvd shot by someone who knew Buckethead well enough to be with the band all day & he sent me this same pic when I asked about him.
Totally! And the funniest thing was, he wasn't yet in G'n R, and I had never heard of him. I had a job of reviewing CDs for a local East Village rag, and I got this CD by a man named Buckethead (no mask, but the photo was blurred on cover). The guitar playing was this sick (in a good way!) technique meets humor meets cool tunes, and after seeing the acoustic show I listened to the CD again and said, "No, this can't be the same guy." IT WAS! LOL. He's SO talented...that goes without saying... :)
Yeah, thats buckethead. I met him at Stephen Perkins (jane's addiction's drummer)house in 1997. Never forget his face. very passive and humble person got to jam out with him and perkins for a few hours. wish i had a f-in camera that day! shesh..
@cyrstalmethhero He only dances to his music on stage, wrote a song for him when he died, and wrote an entire album from him. He even played "Beat It" live with the Deli Creeps once.
This looks like an article from an old copy of Guitar World magazine. Young guitarists used to send demo tapes and their biography to the magazine in order to get noticed. The magazine would publish the biography and write a short comment about the guitarist's playing. It was a regular feature. I have an old Guitar World magazine from around 1991which has a similar column for a young Michael Romeo (from Symphony X)! These features were often printed in Black and White so it is absolutely genuine
Yes, this is from the Guitar Player magazine column, to be frank, it was like a classified ads bit. black and white and small, demos page or something.
tihs is him , I see Buckethead all the time talking about Paul Gilbert taught him this and that and not to mention I hear Gilbert all over his playing . Also , note the continued infatuation he has with the freaky long finger thing and he has a fake long finger on in this pic . Good post , hate to bust it but this is him !
I saw Buckethead up close at a concert and I could see his eyes through the holes in the mask. They looked Asian, but the skin was really pale. Maybe somethings wrong with his face. Who knows.
First off this is a real picture of Brian Carroll at age 19. The Aria Pro Bass listed as his I sold to him. It used to be mine but I wanted a Teal Peavey at the time. Secondly and most important Brian hasn't lived at that address in Claremont for years although it was quite interesting picking him up and dropping him off for band practice back in 87. Thirdly lot's of people call Brian Carroll Brian. Buckethead is a character which certainly does NOT seperate ego from art. Brian is quite shy
Which is true? A. Guitarist Buckethead is 6’4” or shorter in his bare feet and he is extroverted and not shy. B. Guitarist Buckethead is 6’6” in his bare feet and he is very shy and introverted. that is buckethead!!! influences:paul gilbert shawn lane his jaw looks like it fits his mask his hair was that length when he was 20 that is buckethead
And sometimes the teacher says.. Go my son, I have taught you all that I know.. You have surpassed my abilities.. You are the teacher now.. Go forth and prosper! And so he did!
Exactly my point. I'm not trying to undermine or disrespect Hendrix and what he has done. He was great and original. But these Hendrix fanatics always try to play the "if he were alive" card. He is not alive, period. He might have never improved his style, like most of the musicians from that era who are still alive today... And Buckethead is also a pioneer of our time, for those who keep saying Hendrix was one. He has a style like no other and will influence generations to come. No doubt.
That pic and bio are the real deal, I had that issue of Guitar Player back in the late 80's and it was in the back pages in a section called, "Hometown Heroes" or something where woodshedders would submit their demo tapes and bios. I even remember laughing with my pals at that time at the guys finger extension and thinking what a smartass he must have been. Remember, back in those days guys were doing insane things to get a wide finger reach, after Yngwie hit the scene.
I can say that because it's true. And Buckethead is a Legend as well, or at least will become one. And you can't say what Hendrix would have done if he was alive, cause he isn't. He probably would have been like Santana, who hasn't changed his style EVER. They are from the same era, and have similar styles...
The house is nothing like the other houses in the neighborhood. It is an old grove house that was built when there was nothing around it but orange trees. It is also much smaller than the track homes that were built around it. Very unique for the neighborhood.
Haha, most of that was true. But I still think Hendrix is somewhat of an influence to many guitarists... But yeah, Buckethead is the man! No one can deny that! :D... and I'll like to see them try to deny it.
Yeah the dude's a freak, but look at it this way, the guy can walk into a store or whatever and he doesn't have to worry about people bugging him or asking for autographs. He can live a relatively normal life.
oh btw, for clarification i'm not saying that hendrix came from the 80's (duh lol) but most of these virtuosos did. OH Tidbit: back in the day, in 68 when Voodoo Child was first played on the radio, a friend of mine was listening and his father, a professional Trombone player from Juliard and formerly of the New York Phil Harmonic walked by his room and asked "Who is that master guitar player?" My friend said "That's Jimi Hendrix dad." He nodded and said "Ah so that's what all the fuss is about"
I used to play shows at CBGB's 313 Gallery in NYC. One day I walked in to the place (it was next door to CBGB's. Owned by Hilly, too), and this kick ass acoustic guitarist was sitting a folding chair on the stage, just playing the hell out of his guitar. He was hiding his head from the crowd--almost had his head in his armpit by his guitar neck. After the show he threw his guitar in the case and stormed out. I asked "who was that man"...the sound man said BUCKETHEAD. He had brown hair...
A simple coverup. Everyone knows that Buckethead's face was scratched off by chickens (because they liked him so much) at age 4, when he was just beginning to play guitar in the chicken coop on his farm.
Look at the background on this pic, you see a garage with stones and a basketball net. type up "Buckethead Basketball" and look at the garage where he's playing basketball, it's the same garage. Hence, Buckethead = Brian Carroll There are two or three videos of buckethead "buckethead jam session 2" where the cameraman calls him BRIAN, there is NO DOUBT that Brian Carroll is buckethead.
I've seen Buckethead live in NYC without his getup (He used to use CBGB's 313 Acoustic Gallery as a place to just rip us his accoustic guitar). He had brown hair...and this shaped head..but he did such a great job of hiding his eyes from the crowd, I wouldn't be my life this was him...but I would bet 20 bucks.
@indeedken: I've met two people that worked with him, the director of the horror film "Flesh for the Beast" which Buckethead scored and a female Bassist who played in Bernie Worrell's Wu Warriors. there is videos of buckethead unmasked here on youtube. And actual videos, not just photo. Search for Classx. Its buckethead's old band. Its from 1988 tho, so he was young then. But the videos are not fake
nope its a rubber finger extension.. he uses them in his newer videos when hes playing slap bass, if you youtube it.. you can see a freaky long rubber thumb he uses to slap bass with.. he uses them still today ! its not a blur

IF you google earth the address you'll see buckethead outside mowing the yard.
give please xD
Simpl3 D3ath you can see the chicken coup he was raised in
Not anymore :(

whats wrong with his pinkie
Joshua Kim pinky extension, later answer better than no answer
The chickens packed at when he lived in the coop.
Finger extension there’s a videos of him playing bass with it
Don't you know Buckethead's a robot. That's what's going on with his finger.
The extended robotic pinkie didn't last long, as it freaked to many people out.

Why does his pinky look longer than any other of his other fingers
right????
ikr wtf his pinky looks so fake
He has a attachment, I forgot what it's called, that gives bases and guitars a more percussive sound.
Matt slapstick

yeah but for that reason alone you gotta love this dude, his music is more important that all that other crap, and that shit makes awsome
@cyrstalmethhero He only dances to his music on stage, wrote a song for him when he died, and wrote an entire album from him. He even played "Beat It" live with the Deli Creeps once.
pretty cool, the most realistic guess of who bucket head is
That hand looks almost alien. The length of that pinky finger is almost twice as long as my index finger!

@MetallicBill Yea, but considering the whole GP mag design these columns have the same template as newspaper classified black and white ads.
I saw Buckethead up close at a concert and I could see his eyes through the holes in the mask. They looked Asian, but the skin was really pale. Maybe somethings wrong with his face. Who knows.
I know what he looks like,I have a modern picture,he has short and a mustache
But Buckethead has long hair. 🎭🎨🥁🎸
Or, the finglonger, haha. Buckethead rules, can't wait to see him on the 21st.
look at the backround garage thats in a bunch of old buckethead videos...he plays basketball there with maximum bob

thats the blur of the pink when he was hitting the fret with the pinky, he had some fast fingers
His pinkie is so long
+Ben Duncan hahaha

Its a fingerextension for the bass.. Some songs require that, or just really fast hands.
That pic and bio are the real deal, I had that issue of Guitar Player back in the late 80's and it was in the back pages in a section called, "Hometown Heroes" or something where woodshedders would submit their demo tapes and bios. if u look at his pinkie u can tell there is some sort of cap on it to make it longer.
but he does have abnormally large hands.

and a legend was born....
Comparing this to what I saw in Young Buckethead... it seems to be him. I'm happy now. I can live my life in peace.
dude-he is playing everything
He can even play BANJO
he is a real legend
he looks cool when unmasked.
dang if he really lived in claremont, CA i lived in the city right next to him
Guys, this is really buckethead, behind is his house, look at the classX band videos, montage 1 ... our hero !!!
this is kool but at the same time i really liked the idea of not knowing anything aabut him. it was such a fun illusion
Haha, most of that was true. But I still think Hendrix is somewhat of an influence to many guitarists... But yeah, Buckethead is the man! No one can deny that! :D... and I'll like to see them try to deny it.
is there such a thing as getting a finger extension or r those like plastic cups you put on your fingers
Yeah the dude's a freak, but look at it this way, the guy can walk into a store or whatever and he doesn't have to worry about people bugging him or asking for autographs. He can live a relatively normal life.

It's an extension
@roodoe816 How is that possible when they are in a band together?
A simple coverup. Everyone knows that Buckethead's face was scratched off by chickens (because they liked him so much) at age 4, when he was just beginning to play guitar in the chicken coop on his farm.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH HIS LITTLE FINGER. JESUS crist
that may be buckethead's face but that's what he looked like a long time ago! we want to know what he looks like now...
if you watch it at one point it says please read for info mouse over the square and pause the vid its says finger extensions for bass
buckethead...
he basicly owns everything that has strings
he has some freaking scary fingers
thats why he's so amazing
@maximaman380 lmao his pinky reminds me of the movie "ALien" with them head sucker thingys.
you cant say one is better than the other when they have complete different styles of playin
Look at the background on this pic, you see a garage with stones and a basketball net.
type up "Buckethead Basketball" and look at the garage where he's playing basketball, it's the same garage.
Hence, Buckethead = Brian Carroll
There are two or three videos of buckethead "buckethead jam session 2" where the cameraman calls him BRIAN, there is NO DOUBT that Brian Carroll is buckethead.
he didnt want random people walkin up to him and askin for autographs and stuff and he also had stage fright
Actually I do know someone who looks amazingly like this guy in the pic .
@piemasta6 his name is Brian Carroll. It even says in the info with the pic.
he has extenders on em so he can hit notes that are really far apart, dude
that pinky is so disturbing i cant think normal when i see that
who do you think is better buckethead or jimi hendrix?
look up A video called "classx montage 2" on youtube, and you will find buckethead playing without his mask with another band
it's an extension to reach chords you can't reach without the extension
Look at his hand in the photo! thats like the hugest chord ever
I've seen Buckethead live in NYC without his getup (He used to use CBGB's 313 Acoustic Gallery as a place to just rip us his accoustic guitar). @cyrstalmethhero this really is buckethead. there are even videos on youtube which shows him unmasked. search "ClassX Montage"
@n0shytsh3rl0ck Those are attachable extensions.
he plays like 8 difrent instrements and he has numchucks >:D
Yeah, I mean, I've read all the comments here, but I still can't get one thing clear:
HOW CAN SOMEONE HAVE SUCH FUCKING LONG FINGERS, GOD DAMN IT!!!
you can just see him when the video closes in towards the bassist, and first the vocalist says something like "take it away Brian", and then he says Brian Carroll on guitar!
Extra crispy.
I guess i'm kinda biased towards sound because personally I see a lot of guys who can shred and hit lots of notes some in random shredding some with some melody to it, but what really gives me chills is a great tone. I guess that's why I prefer slash just on the sound basis. i LOVE vai, gilbert, satriani, etc. but the sound I enjoy the most is of guys like Slash, Leslie West, Hendrix, even Andrew Stockdale of Wolfmother has a killer tone. Man I wish more utube discussions were this tame lol
You could pick a winner with those digits!!
lol if you used the futristic programs that show you what a person looks like when theyre older on this picture it would show a guy with long curly black hair and a mask and a bucket on his head playing guitar. :D
playing none other than the Fender Heartfield Talon that he is playing in the newspaper article posted on this video!!!
Also on the ClassX Demo 2 video, the guitarist introduces Brian by saying "Brian Carroll on Lead Guitar" and then introduces all the other band members, and also when you get to see Brian, you can tell it is Big B because of the build and posture, it is IDENTICAL to Buckethead's in every shape, way and form!!!
This joker moses things he knows all their is to know (cont)
he kinda looks like the great Jason Becker
there are so many other pictures now. this isnt the only one
Well, loose and dirty yes, sumthing like Leslie West or how that dude in Across the Universe played but when i say sloppy i'm referring to the note accuracy, and intonation.
That is Buckethead..but he does not look that way anymore. If you ever want to see what he looks like, just head over to Styles Music in Pomona CA, he learned and shows up there often..
he's doing wise to perform in disguise
This is what Buckethead looks like without his mask. 🎭🎨🥁🎸 th-cam.com/video/BQpKdxLWc_0/w-d-xo.html
the thing on his pinky is called a "finger extender"
Brian Carroll can be found on WIKIPEDIA. It's him in the photo when he was like 20. I don't understand how any of you can say it is or isn't him, when you don't believe the truth and don't know for yourselves. Brian is a GENIUS. Just like KISS was. It's made all of you wonder, and research, and buy stuff, and so on and so on... it's helped him tremendously. YOUR curiosity has made him WAY more famous than if he had just remained Brain Carroll. it does. exactly like the page, i checked it out last night then i come across this video saying the same thing. lol
Sounds like Buck, he was classically trained as well. Gilbert was not his only teacher. He has several. The guy is like a sponge.
Bucket head lives a block from my house........ HOLY JESUS!!!
damn that was a great song
ive watched and rated 3 times already
