  • 0.5mm (0.020”) is one of my most used lock pick thicknesses, so it’s nice to have that option from Multipick now. I hope that they expand the range of picks available in the future too 👍😃

      Another pro is that they don't have the etched number at the root of the pick shaft. That removes a weak spot. Thanks for the review, Ash. 🙂👍

    I really like the set. I had the dual gauge set before 0.6 & 0.4 mm and this fills in the gap quite nicely. 0.4mm is a bit too flexible at times, so these are perfect. Only missing the F07 as PN07/V07 is one of my favorite profiles. I do not miss rakes in this Set. Great review, thanks for sharing :)

    i love the idea, but i can barely get all my Multipicks into their large case. They need to produce a larger case to hold them and for future picks. My Multipicks are just for show. Would not want to damage them for price I paid.

    They look awesome, and I do agree it'll be nice if they did have a few extras profiles there. Luckily I made it through this one not squirming and slapping my hand to keep me from breaking out my wallet. I have an addiction to tools, they are like drugs to me. So when I go to any tool place or look at tool reviews it's always hard for me. I am like a squirrel that sees something shiny and I will eventually get the set cuz I actually see it coming in handy and would make a great addition to expanding my pic sets

    It seems to me that this set is Multipick's answer to the new 0.5mm series of picks from Wendt. As for this set, I got it a few days ago and the quality is as good as we expect from Multipick. In terms of usability, these picks do not seem better than their counterparts from Wendt, but they look and feel more premium. I do not yet have a lock where 0.4mm fit in but 0.5mm don't, and the 0.5mm picks seem way stronger; therefore, I would love to see more 0.5mm tools in the future.

    I use .018" and .022" with a couple of .020". ,002" different may not sound like much. But it's a huge difference when picking IMO. .015" is a bit too thin for my liking. I have hard time controlling it. Then again, I don't have locks that requires .015" so putting off learning it for now.

    • @LockNoob
      @LockNoob  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most of the time you only need 0.025 - 0.020 picks, but when you need thinner, you need thinner!

    You don't have to sell me on multipick, we are all familiar with their high quality. Unfortunately, still outside my budget 🙁. I love the selection of hooks, I'm always looking for that one hook that's just right. I do like my rakes though, and perhaps in the future they will offer another add-on set of rakes. My favorites being a triple peak, a city rake, and my absolutely FAVORITE rake is an offset snake rake like the one sparrows offers.

    • @LockNoob

    • @parapicktog7734
      @parapicktog7734 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LockNoob I prefer the offset (bent rake) version, and start using it upside down to only lift the pins a little, then flip it over to lift em higher, then if one or two are really high cuts, because it's bent like that you can also use it as a medium hook.

    A lot of manufacturers make multiple gauges of picks, say Sparrows that makes 0.025”, 0.020”, and 0.015” - they also make a 0.012” set though don’t sell singles; Southard makes multiple verities of picks in multiple gauges from no handle to laminated handle to plastic handles in different stainlesses and sizes from 0.032”, 0.025”, 0.020”, and 0.015” with the great majority available as singles which has commented them along with their cheaper cost as probably the primary law enforcement supplier in the US; Peterson sells 0.025”, 0.018”, and 0.015”; law locks sells 2 at 0.6mm and 0.5mm. The 0.5mm falls just over 0.019” and seems to be a great go to pick size along with 0.018”. I find it odd that my go-to while not the gem like Lock Noob does tend to be the Peterson’s 0.018” picks, they just seem to fit in key ways better allowing for bottom picking in US locks as well as being a little stronger and offering better feedback than 0.015”. I’ve never really liked the 0.020” of Sparrows even after adding handles.
    I started off getting into picking through law enforcement with Southard and have just expanded into more technical picking and massive increase in variety of picks to find what I like most; I think I have sets or singles from about every pick maker, including Multi-Pick and must say their picks are nice but quite pricy and quite close to Southard’s High Yield stainless sandwiches picks, which are also quite pricy. Find what you like and use and then go from there. I will say from the law enforcement side SPP was never really a thing it was mostly raking and bypassing because ultimately time was a factor and skills weren’t trained that much so you’d practice on the side; picking is a good hobby just be careful as it can be quite a rabbit hole of picks tools and toys. One benefit in the US is Sparrows, they’re quite cheap, and living in NY, not too far from Peterson, is no shipping there which is just ridiculous; I like quite a bit of Peterson picks but their pricing is just ridiculous on some things including shipping which is marked up by well over 150% domestically and even more internationally which is why in the UK it’s cheaper to buy Peterson from about anyone except Peterson.
    I like the channel and don’t mind too much the reviews as you disclose that products were sent to you; just don’t turn into Lock Picking Lawyer whose Chanel is just mini-infomercials for products he sells. Between LPl selling out and Bosnian Bill retiring from TH-cam there are fewer and fewer picking channels worth watching.

    I think they are trying to break into the market created by Peterson and Sparrows, and now also being touched on by Andy Law and Wendt with the Lockmasters picks. And good on them, my personal favorite picks are Peterson 0.018," as they give me the best blend of strength and maneuverability. I just wish there were more distributors of some of the fantastic European picks on this side of the pond, because shipping gets really pricey.

    • @LockNoob

    Nice set but as you pointed out, it’s somewhat lacking in certain ways. Sparrows has a selection of 11 picks in 0.020. I wish Sparrows would offer all their pick styles in 0.020 and 0.015. It would be nice to have Lunatics and some of my other favorites in all 3 thicknesses. It would also be nice to have them available with or without handles. I really like the rubber grips Sparrows puts on their .025 picks.

    Two questions:
    I bought some inexpensive 4 pin padlocks today (per your previous video about how to pick your first real lock [video no. 225]), and ordered some discounted Peterson hooks (Peterson's rubber coater subcontractor used a firmer rubber than Peterson paid for, and said subcontractor went out of business, so they were USD 6.50 per instead of USD 8.00 for their plastic handled picks or USD 15.00 for their normal rubber handled picks, and Covert Instruments' Genesis (starter) kit - all picks in 0.025".
    Two questions - first, how easy is it to get locks that a narrower pick like these 0.5mm (appx 0.020") are needed for in the US (and at a reasonable price? And second, if my beginner's budget and skill limits me to getting a few hooks and a couple rakes in only one of the narrower gauges to fit narrower keyways, would it be better to get the 0.5mm / appx .020" gauge, or the 0.4mm / appx .016" gauge picks?
    It's going to be like Christmas waiting for my picks so I can get started (oddly enough, my local Wal-Mart didn't have ANY Master Lock #3's, so sorry, Master Lock, I can't start ruining locks with you /rofl!/)

    • @LockNoob
      @LockNoob  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      For A beginner, I always recommend picks that are 0.025 - 0.023" think certainly not less than 0.020". As for the lock question, I'm not sure as based in Europe, sorry
