      He needed to interrupt because they all rambled on with completely useless information that didn't answer the question.
      It's a very common problem in Thailand to make simple things extremely complicated for no reason.
      The reporter has a responsibility to keep conversations simple and clear so the viewers are not bored with unnecessary bla bla bla.
      Most questions are best answered with fewer words, about 5 seconds.
      No one likes to listen to people who ramble on about nothing.

    Srettha was ordered by Thaksin to appoint Pichet to the cabinet, despite his criminal background, and both knew there were risks involved. There was no benefit, since Pichet has no experience of value to the cabinet or the people. Thaksin just wanted to reward him for taking the hit and going to prison for attempting to bribe Supreme Court judges on behalf of Thaksin in one of his criminal cases. Srettha was too weak to refuse this absurd demand from Thaksin, as he was just a nominee without political support who got the job due to his “friendship” with Thaksin’s sister, Yingluck. So Srettha and Thaksin got what they deserved in this case. But the treatment of MFP party and disregarding the votes of 14 million is another matter.

    • @WaterShowsProd
      @WaterShowsProd 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      Yes, while this information was very well presented and explained, there was a lot of tip-toeing around Thaksin's direct involvement and complicity in all this. And the news that followed was that Thaksin, not a politician, a convicted criminal who spent only a few months of an 8-year sentence in a hospital wearning a phoney neckbrace, has "ordered" the digital wallet scheme, that was the party's primary campaign platform, to be scrapped.

    • @Farang_Lifestyles
      @Farang_Lifestyles 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

       all planned events from before Taksin's medical arrival.... this was to allow time for the courts to complete the process of removing the peoples elected Move Forward Party and then open the doors for Taksin's daughter to become leader of the appointed political party to parliament.

    • @frazerhainsworth08
      @frazerhainsworth08 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It’s essential to look at the broader picture here. The appointment of individuals like Pichet, while controversial, cannot be solely attributed to Thaksin’s influence over Srettha. Every political leader must make difficult decisions, and it's often a balancing act to maintain stability within the party and the government. Dismissing Pichet outright disregards the potential value he could bring, regardless of his past. The idea that Srettha is merely a puppet of Thaksin is a reductionist view that doesn't consider the complex political dynamics at play. Furthermore, Srettha’s relationship with Yingluck should not automatically be seen as a weakness but rather as a testament to his ability to form strategic alliances.
      Regarding the Move Forward Party (MFP) and the 14 million votes, it's critical to recognize that the political system in Thailand, like in many democracies, involves more than just popular vote; it also requires coalition-building and navigating legal frameworks. While the treatment of the MFP raises legitimate concerns about democratic principles, it is a separate issue from the appointment of cabinet members and should be addressed on its own merits. Simplifying these complex issues into narratives of control and weakness overlooks the intricate realities of governance and politics.

Thaksin as PM reportedly ordered the permanent secretary for education to get hold of the university entrance exam papers in advance to ease her in. There was a backlash from parents of kids that failed to get in and she had to shift to a faculty where placed not in demand but quietly switched back again later.

    Britain is a Constitutional Monarchy, not a democracy. Thailand is Constitutional Monarchy, not a democracy. Both allow the citizens to vote for some representatives in the Government. In the past the King of Thailand has been a stabilising force preventing civil riots.
    The claim that one can speak against the king of the UK avoids the fact that one can be arrested for calling for an end to the destruction of Palestine and the Palestinian people. Carrying a Palestinian flag or wearing a black and white checked scarf can result in Police bashing and arrests for inciting unrest.
    Western censorship prevents reporting who enjoys "lèse magést" powers around the world today

    After 13 successful and 9 unsuccessful coups in just over a century, as well as 20+ constitutions and national charters, Thailand has more or less perfected the art of the bloodless coup and instituted a tri-partate political revolving door, allowing each of the main political factions to have a turn with their noses in the feedbag, as long as they don't attempt to upset the political balance. The panelists did a very good job of giving relatively simple explanations about a very comlicated situation, however the square-headed elephant in the room, Thaksin, was not fully indicated for his complicity in all of this. A caption mentioned he was sentenced to 8 years in prison, but didn't mention that only served a few months of that, in a hospital, making trips in public wearing a neckbrace only the remove it once he thought there weren't any cameras around. The Minister in question was guilty of bribing the courts during Thaksin's trial, Thaksin met with Prime Minister Srettha immediately before he was given that position, and as soon as Srettha was removed from office, Thaksin, a convicted criminal, not a politician, "ordered" the party's primary campaign platform, a digital wallet scheme to provide a monetary bonus to Thai citizens, be cancelled.

    Politician tend to engage their policy with the sensitive issue and use the lèse-majesté law as a tool to suppress dissent or weaken political opponents. In everyday life, it's generally expected that people should treat each other with respect, and laws exist to protect individuals from defamation and insult. And I think that the concept behind lèse-majesté laws in Thailand extends this protection to the monarchy but with much greater severity due to the unique cultural and historical significance of the royal family in Thai society.
    The idea is that, just as one would avoid insulting a neighbor out of common decency and fear of legal repercussions, one should especially avoid insulting the monarchy, given its revered status and the severe penalties involved.

    I need a full-hour program of this panel. Let them finish talking please.
    I partly disagree with Veerapat on the adaptation of Phue Thai Party. He said they realised that they can't be liberal all the time for them to survive.
    1. They've never been that liberal. Yes they had some progressive policies. But they've never been anti-establishment. The reason they're sacked in the past was because they gained too much popularity. And they wanted to control the establishment themselves.
    2.There is no guarantee that after they 'adapt' this time around, they'd survive. It's partly because of the existence of the Move Forward Party that allows the Phue Thai to take the office. The established elites need someone to fight against the rising MFP. The old-friend conservatives can't do this alone so they need Phue Thai on their side. You'll never know if the MFP isn't this popular, the Shinawatra might still be the all-time evil for the elites.

    I’m Thai and there was no surprises for me. The show has been written from the beginning of Srettha’s term. Things will get better, depending on the intelligence of Thai people.
    And yes, keep disrupting the speakers is very annoying.

      Yes I agree, I found the speakers very informative but the news reporter was rude and annoying, cutting them off. I live in Thailand and am trying to fathom Thai politics which is very difficult. I don't understand now where once the military and Thaksin were waring and now they are acting together?

      @@nicolelouis8968 No matter how interesting they were, they aren't answer his question.
      I'm Thais so I can answer most of the questions myself. That made me a bit irritate on how they beat around a bush and did not directly answer the question.
      For example the anchor ask what is lese majeste for some audience that unfamiliar with this term and the answer is Siam political history since 191x, that's not a proper answer.
      They can just say that it's a law similar to blasphemous towards king.

    At the core of the issue is the vying for political supremacy between the Yellow Shirt and the Red Shirt factions in the name of for the betterment of the country. In reality, it's a joke. Investor confidence is shaken. The people are divided. The country is weakened in the long run.
