I am loving the sage with your brown eyes. I don’t think I would ever actually go the watermelon tourmaline route myself, though on you it’s lovely. I don’t have the mini or glam or retro. I think I’m going to wait and see if ND does any worthwhile promotions, or wait for spring VIB. But I do like it. Great review. Your swatch groupings are always especially helpful.

I would only do monochrome looks with it as I don't care for the pink with the green on any or the looks I've seen on TH-cam. I think I'll spend my money on the new Lisa Eldridge. same for me, everything is so orange and red-ish in mainstream palettes, or way too deep. when i saw this one i was so happy that I finally have choices, haha. In real life this palette is actually more neutral than it seems, mixing sages and neutrals (haven't seen many people doing it in reviews) makes a subtle khaki looks, mint looks are not chalky or chunky. haven't tried pinks much yet though. very fun neutral-ish palette

Both looks are beautiful. You echoed all my thoughts and why I'm not rushing to get it. I do want to see it in person. I really would have eliminated the pastel matte green and added a more army green like the one in the mini. I also would have wanted more pinks, but thats also mainly because I lack pinks in my collection so definitely would have been more worth it for me.

Gosh, I Love the way you group information! I have this palette in transit, but I've been on the fence about how to best use it. So your monochrome idea is terrific. I love the Glam palette and the My Dream palette. But I returned the large Retro palette. Too pink. I think the pinks in this seem more wearable. If you haven't seen Alicia Archer's video on this palette, check out how this palette works on a deeper skin tone. Plus she's always worth watching. Great personality, like you. Great looks - you are right, we have to be carefull not to get the pink eye. I find that on my (cool toned) skin the pinks look very warm almost peachy.

If you look at the movie stars of the 20s and 30s they had that bold chalky bright green or soft pink look. That's why I like this you can do an authentic flapper look. That said it you try a more modern look mixing the colors like green and pink it looks a little off I think. For example If you do straight up reds and pinks all the way up to the eyebrow it looks like real retro.

I ordered this on the last day of the sale and admittedly was getting scared it wouldn’t work well for me. More than half of the TH-camrs trying this have had trouble with at least one look. That doesn’t bode well for the average gal like me lol. Both of your looks turned out magnificent! I actually bought it mostly so I could do the first look before the pink was added. That light minty monochrome look is to die for! I am really thinking of popping out one of the shimmer browns and adding a deep cool brown and maybe an icy pink. I think I may prefer a cooler shell pink with the greens vs the ones she chose. We will see! I do love the cool toned nature of the palette. Great video as always.

I think my mom will go nuts over this but would never know about this brand so.. perfect timing for this release because it made finding a gift easier. She is obsessed with sage green. BUT I'm worried she won't understand how to use it. Maybe the mini would be easier. Hmmm.

I almost want a mini retro 2.0 that’s a deep-dark version of the original retro mini. But I’m glad lots of people are loving and enjoying this midi release. Hi Sophie! I am so excited. I just ordered the Retro Glam Palette and the I Need a Nude palette from Ulta. My daughter puts all of her reward points on my phone number. I was able to pick up both of the palattes for a whopping $5.41. Can you believe it? I don't have a You Tube channel and I don't get any PR so this is definitely a score for me! I have the Retro palette and I love it. I also picked up the Yucca palette during the Sephora Sale and am looking forward to using it more in the spring. I will have a lot of eyeshadow to use up. Lol! The only thing left for me is to maybe try some Viseart palettes but I'm not sure I will have room for them. How do you think they compare with the Natasha Denona palettes? I love your channel. Very useful swatching these in colour groups. I often wonder when I see an eyeshadow palette why they lay out the palette the way they do (natasha usually does to indicate how you can pair shadows together for looks) and would rather just move them around by colour groups, it does feel overwhelming.
When I saw the palette, I thought it was a beautiful color story. However, I am a novice and didn’t feel I can pull this off. But after watching your video, I am starting to fall in love. The pink and green combo is beautiful and it looks absolutely gorgeous on you!! Now I wish I picked it up during the Sephora sale…😊

The best swatches! Green and pink will mix to give brown bc they are opposites on the wheel. I think that flutter shade is a KK. I prefer ABH Nouveau and Mini Retro; more sophisticated and wearable for me.
these eyecolors make your eyes pop! I have a similar skin tone and eye color so this is helpful to see them on you. I was debating between this one and the new Mario one, but I think I will go with this one. I do actually wear a lot of soft greens on the everyday.

I feel like it needs two dark mattes - one olive or hunter green and one dark brown. I may sub a couple shimmers out for comparable mattes from other ND midi palettes.
Now looking at it from your review and looks (very pretty ones :)), it actually looks like a soft wearable holiday palette, it kinda makes sense to me now. Your cat is super cute btw :)
I loved the more toned down shades in the mini retro but know I wouldn’t get much use out of the minty sage colors in the midi. That said, the second look you created is 🔥 and looks so nice on you! Also, your hair is looking amazing!
I love the cool tones. I have limecrime venus xl2 and while I love that palette it's not cool toned so it doesn't look as good on me. I will prolly get this next year. Awesome looks you did!! Great review!!
I don’t feel like the mint colours are truly the vibes of the mini retro. Lime Crime seems to have more the tones I would have expected. I do wonder if ND will miss out on sales as it feels like ABH stole her thunder with a green neutral palette even if it is more grungy green. New subscriber and I am loving your reviews!
Great review! For me personally, this palette is ticking a lot of boxes. Most of Natasha Denona‘s palettes run quite midtone-heavy and this finally doesn’t, because I’m quite fair and her blending tones are my crease colors. The absence of warm browns and golds is just a bonus. As you showed with your first look: the pink and the sage turn into mauvy grey if blended together. I think that’s a nice option to have in mind, a little color theory never hurts. I think Venus xl 2 from Lime Crime might be the closest pallet to this one, but is a lot more warm-toned and golden overall. It only has one greenish shade. I think the formulation can’t really compete, especially if you’ve seen Natasha Denona using Retro Glam on Models with deeper skintones.
I didnt think green and pink would go together well on the eye, but it looks so cool on you! I bought this during the sephora sale, snapped it up fast, but it only shipped a few days ago and I don't think I'll receive it until next week.
I’m not getting this palette. I have all of this color story I need with the mini. Sage greens are not the best with my undertones. But…. IT LOOKS STUNNING ON YOU! If they looked that great on me I’d buy it in a flash because I don’t have any palette like this. Plus I dislike her cream to powder formula and this palette only has one of those. I loved how you fixed the first look. It’s so valuable to see because we here at home mess up and have to fix looks. And in the end it looked fantastic! (I’m not always so talented at fixing my “mistakes”! )
Yes I think that makes a lot of sense Lisa especially if you are happy with just the mini palette. I think for most people, the mini is enough and then this is for those who are really into the colors
You definitely nailed the second look! The first look was gorgeous, too. I definitely think that I’d only ever really use it for monochromatic looks to avoid looking like I have pink eye, though! This review makes me so happy. Your swatches are the most beautiful I've seen of this palette and if they're accurate and true to life then I'm excited about every single shade here! I had the same concerns about the pastels shades when I saw the promo photos and I think that might be the reason that ND used mostly dark skin models for her looks from this palette. I agree about missing a dark matte though. Even for me, as a very pale person who still needs to contour my eye shape. Both looks look absolutely stunning on you. I think the sage and a pink are a gorgeous combination but a tricky one, if we remember that green and red are opposites on the color wheel, and mixing opposites tends to create mud... As a ND connoisseur, are the cream to powder shades prone to drying out or going bad quickly? I buy eyeshadow palettes with the intention of using them for years, regardless of the stated shelf life (which is a relatively new concept for powder products)
Yes excellent thoughts and points! In regards to the cream to powder shades, the oldest palette that I have with that formula is the Metropolis palette and I have found that even after a few years they perform very well. They have a soft touch to them big aren’t like a cream that would dry out

It’s okay but I went with Sydney grace / Mel Thompson’s version, there’s more shimmers and their absolutely stunning but again ND’s version is okay. Doesn’t blow my frock up lol
Mel's bundle is definitely warmer side in tones, i think it might suit people with warmer undertones more. retro glam is more on cold neutral minty-ish side, Mel's is more on warmer green/pink side
I went for the Sydney Grace In Memory of Mel instead. I prefer the warmer tones and also there are darker mattes in the bundle. With my fair skin and silver hair I was afraid these cool tones would wash me out.
I remember thinking that the color story in the Mini Retro was interesting and that a bigger palette should be just as great, so I was surprised that she released the Retro Glam palette. I must say though, that I feel the Retro Glam is too different from the Mini Retro- from the heavy focus on greens (even though they're individually lovely), to the lackluster pinks, instead of the warmer pinks from the Mini Retro.
I like both looks. However, like several people have stated look 2 gorgeous. I’m a big fan of Natasha. I have most of her palette. I am not a gold fan. Never wanted that one. This one I love for me being WOC layering the shades worked the best for me. One of the shades I probably will never wear that even layering it’s ashy on me.
I do agree, you are the only one who said it, but greens and pink are better as colour blocks. When you and other blended them together, the result was oddly kind of warmer?! Also, your reproduction of Natasha's look looks a lot softer than hers. I think the depth she shows there is not really obtainable with that pallette.

I am not a fan of green.. I have green eyes so prefer warmer tones to contrast with my eyes.. when I wear cool grey /green tones, it washes me out and makes me look “dead” I find.

Great looks - you are right, we have to be carefull not to get the pink eye. I find that on my (cool toned) skin the pinks look very warm almost peachy.

If you look at the movie stars of the 20s and 30s they had that bold chalky bright green or soft pink look. That's why I like this you can do an authentic flapper look. That said it you try a more modern look mixing the colors like green and pink it looks a little off I think. For example If you do straight up reds and pinks all the way up to the eyebrow it looks like real retro.

I ordered this on the last day of the sale and admittedly was getting scared it wouldn’t work well for me. More than half of the TH-camrs trying this have had trouble with at least one look. That doesn’t bode well for the average gal like me lol. Both of your looks turned out magnificent! I actually bought it mostly so I could do the first look before the pink was added. That light minty monochrome look is to die for! I am really thinking of popping out one of the shimmer browns and adding a deep cool brown and maybe an icy pink. I think I may prefer a cooler shell pink with the greens vs the ones she chose. We will see! I do love the cool toned nature of the palette. Great video as always.

I almost want a mini retro 2.0 that’s a deep-dark version of the original retro mini. But I’m glad lots of people are loving and enjoying this midi release. I love the color story of this palette and I bought the mini retro when it came out but over the years I have purchased shades to match this color story and so I won’t be buying it but I’m happy she came out with this palette.

Hi Sophie! I am so excited. I just ordered the Retro Glam Palette and the I Need a Nude palette from Ulta. My daughter puts all of her reward points on my phone number. I was able to pick up both of the palattes for a whopping $5.41. Can you believe it? I don't have a You Tube channel and I don't get any PR so this is definitely a score for me! I have the Retro palette and I love it. I also picked up the Yucca palette during the Sephora Sale and am looking forward to using it more in the spring. I will have a lot of eyeshadow to use up. Lol! The only thing left for me is to maybe try some Viseart palettes but I'm not sure I will have room for them. How do you think they compare with the Natasha Denona palettes? I love your channel. Very useful swatching these in colour groups. I often wonder when I see an eyeshadow palette why they lay out the palette the way they do (natasha usually does to indicate how you can pair shadows together for looks) and would rather just move them around by colour groups, it does feel overwhelming.

The best swatches! Green and pink will mix to give brown bc they are opposites on the wheel. I think that flutter shade is a KK. I prefer ABH Nouveau and Mini Retro; more sophisticated and wearable for me.

these eyecolors make your eyes pop! I have a similar skin tone and eye color so this is helpful to see them on you. I was debating between this one and the new Mario one, but I think I will go with this one. I do actually wear a lot of soft greens on the everyday.

I feel like it needs two dark mattes - one olive or hunter green and one dark brown. I may sub a couple shimmers out for comparable mattes from other ND midi palettes.

I loved the more toned down shades in the mini retro but know I wouldn’t get much use out of the minty sage colors in the midi. That said, the second look you created is 🔥 and looks so nice on you! Also, your hair is looking amazing!

Great review! For me personally, this palette is ticking a lot of boxes. Most of Natasha Denona‘s palettes run quite midtone-heavy and this finally doesn’t, because I’m quite fair and her blending tones are my crease colors. The absence of warm browns and golds is just a bonus.
As you showed with your first look: the pink and the sage turn into mauvy grey if blended together. I think that’s a nice option to have in mind, a little color theory never hurts.
I think Venus xl 2 from Lime Crime might be the closest pallet to this one, but is a lot more warm-toned and golden overall. It only has one greenish shade. I think the formulation can’t really compete, especially if you’ve seen Natasha Denona using Retro Glam on Models with deeper skintones.

I’m not getting this palette. I have all of this color story I need with the mini. Sage greens are not the best with my undertones.
But…. IT LOOKS STUNNING ON YOU! If they looked that great on me I’d buy it in a flash because I don’t have any palette like this. Plus I dislike her cream to powder formula and this palette only has one of those.
I loved how you fixed the first look. It’s so valuable to see because we here at home mess up and have to fix looks. And in the end it looked fantastic! (I’m not always so talented at fixing my “mistakes”! )
Yes I think that makes a lot of sense Lisa especially if you are happy with just the mini palette. I think for most people, the mini is enough and then this is for those who are really into the colors

I had the same concerns about the pastels shades when I saw the promo photos and I think that might be the reason that ND used mostly dark skin models for her looks from this palette. I agree about missing a dark matte though. Even for me, as a very pale person who still needs to contour my eye shape.
Both looks look absolutely stunning on you. I think the sage and a pink are a gorgeous combination but a tricky one, if we remember that green and red are opposites on the color wheel, and mixing opposites tends to create mud...
As a ND connoisseur, are the cream to powder shades prone to drying out or going bad quickly? I buy eyeshadow palettes with the intention of using them for years, regardless of the stated shelf life (which is a relatively new concept for powder products)
Yes excellent thoughts and points! In regards to the cream to powder shades, the oldest palette that I have with that formula is the Metropolis palette and I have found that even after a few years they perform very well. They have a soft touch to them big aren’t like a cream that would dry out

Mel's bundle is definitely warmer side in tones, i think it might suit people with warmer undertones more. retro glam is more on cold neutral minty-ish side, Mel's is more on warmer green/pink side

I went for the Sydney Grace In Memory of Mel instead. I prefer the warmer tones and also there are darker mattes in the bundle. With my fair skin and silver hair I was afraid these cool tones would wash me out.

I remember thinking that the color story in the Mini Retro was interesting and that a bigger palette should be just as great, so I was surprised that she released the Retro Glam palette. I must say though, that I feel the Retro Glam is too different from the Mini Retro- from the heavy focus on greens (even though they're individually lovely), to the lackluster pinks, instead of the warmer pinks from the Mini Retro.

I like both looks. However, like several people have stated look 2 gorgeous. I’m a big fan of Natasha. I have most of her palette. I am not a gold fan. Never wanted that one. This one I love for me being WOC layering the shades worked the best for me. One of the shades I probably will never wear that even layering it’s ashy on me.

I do agree, you are the only one who said it, but greens and pink are better as colour blocks. When you and other blended them together, the result was oddly kind of warmer?!
Also, your reproduction of Natasha's look looks a lot softer than hers. I think the depth she shows there is not really obtainable with that pallette.
It could also be that the model has a much deeper complexion than me. O wonder if she uses a primer or something. But it's a good call out

I am not a fan of green.. I have green eyes so prefer warmer tones to contrast with my eyes.. when I wear cool grey /green tones, it washes me out and makes me look “dead” I find.
