Thanks for the video. I am creating my warforged artificer for play tomorrow and still polishing my build. When I get off work I’m going to make sure I like my point build and finalize my spell list. I hope I have as much fun with this guy as I hope.
Gnome Cunning: You have advantage on all Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma saving throws against magic. A little different than what you mentioned, but still very handy.
i once did an multi class aetificer ,monk and barbarian and i was like a super soldier wich wall runs was super fast had a gun and did never die because of lucky
I've made an Armorer Artificer/Fighter who is a dwarf. The fighter class is great because you get so many Ability Score improvements. This means you get multiple opportunities to boost either INT, STR, or CON. This multiclass really allows me to take advantage of some of the close range spells.
One piece of info that was missed here is you can use a spell slot to make an eldritch cannon if it were destroyed or you blow it up for a different one + the aoe dmg
This is the first time that I've heard that a Human Variant/Artificer might be banned. I am currently running a Warforged Artificer in a campaign where the whole team is Wargorged. My character is Small (having been created by a Goblin Artificer) so the DM lets me ride my Steel Defender named Harley. My original idea was to use the Mounted Combatant Feat but in combat, I've found a lance to be a hindrance after the initial charge, especially because Harley doesn't have the strength or mass of a horse or similar Large mount. My usual tactics in battle consist of shooting from the back with my Infused crossbow with the +1 bolts we picked up. With +4 from my Int, the Infusion, and the bolts I have a whopping +10 to hit at level 7 and the bolts do 1D8+6 damage. Not bad for a guy without Sharpshooter. Harley has been the MVP in a couple of battles as I often Levitate to stay out of melee while he goes up front to help cover a teammate. His ability to inflict Disadvantage on one attack within 5' has saved a couple in the team during clutch battles.
Githyanki artificer rogue, all the infused stealth buffs and racials create a pretty spectacular character base to fill all sorts of rolls. Mine guards a guild holding between acquisition jobs.
@@SkullSplitter oh, its Dex, Int, Str in that order with medium Armor mastery. So 20+ AC fairly easily, and lots of passed saves. Artillerist who uses cannons to assist in landing sneak attacks, and have cover to fall back to.
I mean, Misty Step/Jump, backstab, elven kind gear, improved armor and weapon... may only be like two attacks, but at least one per round is gonna count.
New to playing dnd, currently making a harpy eagle kenku battle smith artificer character. I plan to make him a sly merchant character who likes to tinker but also has a small stealing problem. This video was a lot of help with helping me understand the class a bit better🙏🙏
I’m having trouble understanding the ins and outs of artificers, but my character (Roseiline) is a home brew version of a tabaxi aka. (a small cat snow leopard hybrid) with the artificer alchemist focus. I have multi-classed in warlock, with a great old one patron, and potential levels into bard as well (reasons listed later). Though recently my subclasses have been more akin to: alchemist/artillerist with warlock spell casting/mind breaking, the barbarian berserker ability in the form of a blood rage curse, and discount bard due to rarely rolling low on charisma checks, though being third lowest stat, and not one level in bard. There has been so much success in this non bard barding that there have been sub plots/misadventures dedicated to the Tom foolery. This Schrödinger’s cat of mixed attributes probably needs reworking so I’m glad to have this video to reference.
I just made my first svirfneblin and first artificer character for a Out of the Abyss campaign in 5e. Boy this class would be so complicated for new players but at the same time the Artificer is so flavorful and customizable that it can fill any party roll if made correctly.
Goblin alchemist/transmutation wizard, crafting potion launchers and pressurized sprays by turning copper into wood and carving them into all my gadgets
- Im making a Wendigo themed Armorer. I theme it as using like the bones and flesh of different creatures to create a kind of grotesque monster meat suit. I really like the Artificer class but my DM really doesn't like the whole technology iron man thing in DnD. He wouldn't not let me use the class that way, but he's way happier with the way I described it. I think the reborn race would work well, or a weird custom race variant human type thing. I always tend too enjoy the weirder more horror style themed characters.
Forest gnome Arcane trickster 4/Armorer 3. Using the infiltrator armor model, super stealthy and mobile and with armor as the spellcasting focus can use a weapon and a shield. Highly versatile list of memorized spells between the 2 classes.
I recently created an artificer starting at level 3 with a single level of cleric at character level 2. Went with Forge cleric, because it clearly fits. Also extra utility cantrips and 1st level spells. Took mending, guidance, and spare the dying with cleric, freeing up artificer cantrips for firebolt. And with custom lineage gnome took magic initiate wizard for find familiar plus toll the dead and pins and needles (really wanted a familiar, and although --- I know, I know --- the homonculus is an even better familiar, it requires a bonus action which I'm already using for my defender and eventually Xbow expert)
Never saw the point for spare the dying. A healers kit (which is only 5 gold) can do the same exact thing and u don’t have to waste a Cantrip slot on it (yea u can change them as an artificer when u lv up but u have to wait until then). Just seems like a waste. Like theirs no reason not to just use a healers kit (especially since theirs a feat that can actually bring em back and not just stabilize em). Also the fact that theirs ways u can use the items as a bonus action and whatnot. Like if your a thief or an Arcane trickster or if u have haste active (which would be a free action with that one). And the Arcane Trickster can also do it at range. The only time spare the dying is good is if your that one cleric subclass (death or the grave one I think I don’t remember) that can make it ranged and can use it as a bonus action and I think some other stuff (not sure if it brings em back up tho it’s been a while since I’ve read it). Just take something like message or mage hand instead and pick up a healers kit and your much better off. Or Booming Blade (which is my all time fave cantrip), Green flame blade is also pretty decent. Which yes they get both of these now from Tasha’s.
I imagine a dwarf artificer artillerist with the optionnal rule for guns (see the gunslinger) multiclassed with forge domain cleric could make a really fun character the "magic" scientist trying to develop guns and gunpowder to help his species survive and being remarked by Moradin who as reward for his actions and noble goal will grant him the possibility to become one of his clercs/priests something like 12 levels in artificer and 8 levels of clerc
im playing a battlesmith echo knight. I'm 7 levels into artificer and im only doing 3 levels into fighter. its a lot of fun and gives you a lot of options. my int is 20 so now i'm just working on getting my con to 20 so i can have 5 extra attacks because of the echo knights ability.
Questions about tinkering: -Can I kind of program the message in some ways or is it 100% static? I could modify a ranger's quiver to whisper the arrow count in it when touched. Can I at least set a trigger? -Is the image, mage's mark, whatever thing static or can I animate it? Is it like, a photo-kinda image or drawing-kinda image?
Im a warforged artificer, im just a tank with legs that go to the front and punch everything with shocking grasp and burn anything with a tiny flamethrower eldritch cannon on the shoulder, im excited to reach lvl 11 to store scorching ray in an item an giving it to my homunculus servant to spam it from the backrow
While my race choice was completelly rp based I kinda wanted to start min maxing from there. Only it seems I've already made all the wrong decisions at level 7.
I'm working on a Cayde-6 build. Five levels in Artificer Artilerist, then become a Ranger. The first five levels will be about developing the Arcane Gun, then go out to use that gun. Fire Bolt will deal 2d10+1d8, then get Elemental Adept Fire. A flare gun on steroids.
Not necessarily playing him yet, (still a backdraft PC) but I was thinking of making a kobold artificer who's whole goal was to try and become a dragon with the best of his ability, Wants to breath flames? He makes a flamethrower Wants to fly? Build some form of flying machine of mechanical wings Want to be big and tough? Build a giant mech suit that looks like a dragon that incorporates what all you had invented prior to building it
I am currently playing a simic hybrid artillerist who is straight up utility/support. The 2d10+1d8 for fire bolt is pretty nice to have unlimited access to. And it hits often with a +4 to intelligence due to 19 intelligence; I'm also rocking 18 constitution and a massive 55hp at level 5 (took +2 con at level 4 rather than a feat) with 13+1 AC (took the carapace 5th level mutation) So I'm easy-ish to hit but I soak it up like a sponge. Most of my spells are for battlefield control and I use my EC to herd mobsters into kill zones for my wizard, or if it's going to be a boss fight, to give out HP. I don't care if I have to burn a spell slot to swap, it's already saved our wizard from being ko'd more than once. Plan to grab the magic initiate feat at lv 8 to grab some extra cantrips and find familiar for some extra in and out of combat aid. Then possibly observant just to knock my passive perception and investigation to 15+ and 21+ respectively. I leave DPS to our barbarian and rogue. Next build will probably be the armour and I'll take sentinel feat at least. Not sure if I'll pair it with great weapon master though. I could still dump strength and go intelligence and con again. That seems to work really well for this class versus dex.
Dex is still really nice for the reasons already explained. Dex is always nice with how common Dex saves r. And what if u don’t have like a rouge or whatever in the party. And what if they can’t do it for some unknown reason (like the player can’t make it or something happens to their character). U automatically get proficiency with thieves tools so y not put some in Dex (also ac is always nice to have more of). Dex itself is just op lol.
Warforged Alchemist that I play as Ultron, from the MCU, but the new version from "What If," and with all of the infinity stones (not sure how that will work, but I will find a way)
I use my guy as more of a support blacksmith who uses his magic to imbue his weapons (that he crafted) with a really big hammer that does some solid damage, his whole goal is to just invent new ways to make everyone’s life easier. I tried to be as unique as possible with the character being more of a paladin esk player with smarts interesting magic combos. He’s not meant to be cracked just fun and unique while filling the theme of my campaign.
I've always liked the idea of a Warhammer in the shape of a Wrench for flavor and making that your spellcasting focus since its both a tool and a weapon.
I just starting in a Forgotten Realms game as a Fire Genasi artificer. We just hit 3rd level and I’m going artillerist. I might multiclass to wizard after a few more levels. All to get more fire spells.
Mostly no; can only cast 1 cantrip per round under normal circumstances (haste and action surge are two circumstances that come to mind that change that).
@@SkullSplitter because artificer is all about intelligence and Minotaurs are traditionally not know for high intelligence, a good memory but not necessarily intelligent
I'm playing an artificer that flunked out of his guild. I didn't put much thought into it but narratively my human with only a +1 intelligence thematically makes sense... god help him. Just a couple of questions though: 1. Let me get this right, You can use your infused items but you will need either a free hand, your arcane focus, but if you have infused your focus to your armour or shield, you don't need a free hand? 2. are spell casting and infuse items different things? 3. With Spellcasting, the spell slots are for imbuing a non magical item with magic, and you can use them whenever, as long has you have a hand free/your focus?
@@SkullSplitter Malakai Rurikson. He has repeating shot, cloak of elvenkind, those boots that allow you to tp, enhanced weapon and defence. I even made a custom model for him and the dog.
Level 14 in same situation. Enlargereduce and faerie fire are my goto. Shield and absorb elements. Shield and javelin of returning. Medium armor master and sentinel. I exist in combat to distract enemies and soak damage. Arcane jolt is for crits or heals and a nat 20 and FOG with the elvenkind items let us rob a dragon
