Hello, do you habe experience on how people react to using warlord Bolt Action as Imperial guard for 40k? I honestly dont like cadians, but i loved the idea of your infantry guard army😅😁

    • @albertcapley6894
      @albertcapley6894 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Soviet infantry (particularly the winter infantry/Siberian veterans) are perfect for Valhallans, you could even get away with Soviet tanks for IG armour in friendly games. For Cadian replacements probably the best options are gonna be US mariens or Rangers, but Soviet helmets might work as well.
The Japanese are, rules wise, very much like the "standard" IG because they are a mass attack army that doesn't mind losing individuals, likewise for soviets, to a slightly lesser extent, and Japanese kitbashed with US Marines and/or Australian models would make really good catachan.

The best starter army is the one that you are interested in surely?
If you’re into the history, buy the army that fits, if you’re into competitive play, then why are you buying a starter army?
The reason that the are no Panzerfausts and Stg44’s in the Blitzkrieg army is that they were issued until 1943/44 and this army represents the German army of 1939/1940. It is supposedly a historical game…

I just recently picked up a blitzkrieg army to play a battle of France campaign with my friend, who is buying the French starter. Despite it being last on the list it’s the best starter army for me. I agree with you that looking at it purely from a game standpoint doesn’t cover all the bases.

Fantastic ranking - was a bit worried going into it, but honestly I think you're basically spot on for all of them (though I wish Afrika Corps was higher): Winter and Grenadier specifically are so good, and you will use basically everything in all of them. And in fact, the Winter starter set might be one of the best starter sets period across all nations, the more I think about it

I'm considering buying another Winter Germans box. You can always use more infantry, plus I want another Maultier and I'm interested in building another variant of the Panzer IV. I might take the leftover infantry I don't need, plus the redundant weapons teams, and make another demo army for the club, or make a 500 point army to domate as a tournament prize.

Mid-War is actually quite common - it gives you access to a lot of stuff people like (light/medium tanks, most artillery, most small arms), and you don't get as many of the crazy stuff (tanks with rocket launchers on them, for example)

I find North Africa is the most popular at my club. I’m the only one with a late war German Army and I hardly ever use my Panzer 4 let alone a Tiger. I have a Churchill for my late war British and have never used it.

I think the most important aspect is: get whatever starter you like because emotional bond between you and your models is more important than value or strength. Also I call bullshit. Waffen SS army is amazing because it has A FUCKING TIGER! No matter how army building is going to be like, you will be able to include A FUCKING TIGER in your army and that's basically all you need to know.

Watching through the video just now (much appreciated), and got a question. I just scored a Afrika Korp starter army box for $78 US + tax, still unopened. Would that be on the fairer end of its price-tag, or should I consider alternatives?

The Waffen list makes about 1500pts which means you can make multiple lists.
Falschirmjager got rolled into regular german forces due to being badly used in campaign. You saw a lot more falschirmjager units than pumas in reality

all of these starter boxes are more or less tied to one of 3 phases. The early war, the mid, and the late war. Now much from the mid works in the late. So wich set to get, depends on what phase you will want to play. Now close to every thing from an early phase works fine in the later ones, but late war models not so much in the early, when it comes to weapon options. Models well why not, who really cares. And so playing early war having a lot of assault rifles won't work. You can always proxy assault rifle models for standard weapons, if you don't want to have to buy a seperate box to play early etc etc, atleast that is what i tell my friends.
So the North Africa corps is a great box, i own one, and it good for the entire North Arica + italian campaign. The only box i would never touch is the Blizt krieg, it was never really good to begin with.

  •  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

If I would get into Bolt Action it would be in 15mm and probably early war.
But that aside, why would early war armies be considered limited? You are not mixing early and late war during matches, right
    ? 🤔

You're coming at this from a purely competitive point of view, just building the best force using the generic selector. I find that a bit boring and prefer to do more themed games, either by theatre or selector. The best starter, as others have said, is the one you like the most. I got the late war Grenadiers ages ago but didn't do anything with it. My 2nd one was Afrika Korps, which is built and painted and gets used, as I like the mid war desert setting, you don't get as many cheesy powerful units/tanks, which is refreshing. BTW there is no such thing as a late war PzIII as they ceased production in 43, as the Pz IV could be upgraded with a bigger gun and the PzIII chassis were then used to make Stugs, again with a bigger gun. Also the Warlord/Italeri Pz III isn't that good a kit. I built a couple and sold them, then bought several Rubicon Pz III's, which are much nicer ( Makes the H-N models) and have a proper scale long 50 unlike the oversize one from the Warlord kit.
