    I've done that trip, it's a bit of a mission. I've been in Lietuvą for 2 years now. It takes a bit of getting used to, especially the winters. The language is not easy to learn and you may get fed up with people constantly driving up your backside but apart from that, it's a lot safer for your children, you will be less stressed, eventually 😁 and you'll live a lot healthier as well. Lithuanians are great once they know you. I wish you well on your new adventure

      Yeh, the drivers are a little much with theyr crazy overtaking the panick breaking to get in the gaps .... we are originally from Lithuania and speak the language :) but we lived most of our lives in UK. It's a beautiful country and love the fact that we will most likely get a white Xmas haha 😄 can't wait 😀

      @craig3782 🤣🤣 that's what 18 years in UK does to you haha we have lived in UK pretty much all of our adult years as well as a biiiig part of our childhood there , so I guess we have picked up the accent naturally 😀
      How do you like Lithuania? What made you move here ?

    • @craig3782
      @craig3782 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@juodarozeMy wife is Lithuanian. We moved for probably more or less the same as you, less stress, safer environment, to grow some of our food, and for my wife to see her family more. There was nothing keeping us in the UK. Our son is 14 and I started to worry about his safety. It's definitely a safer environment for him, he's not very street wise. He settled into his new school straight away and loves it. He speaks Lithuanian so that's not a problem for him. I asked him if he wanted to move back to England?, He replied "No way".

      @craig3782 That's amazing. I'm glad you are finding Lithuania a great place for your family. Life goes that little slower here especially If you are in the countryside. There are lots to do but it's all on your terms and no pressure:)
      In regards to safety I'm not sure, youths are different here but you get bad apples wherever you go .

With crystal clear nights and the Milky Way etched like spray paint clearly across the sky. Abundant wildlife visiting the garden here such as moose, elk, beavers, pine martins, bears in the winter and sometimes even wolves.

      @@juodaroze so far. I know I know. Russia. But in my defense of only seen Estonia and Russia out of these areas. I'm also A B1 in Russian. I'm actually going to Vilnius in 2 weeks! 😁 so I'll let you know. Unfortunately/not so much I'm doing a whole city break thing. So I can't see the wider country of Lithuania, which I hear is beautiful. Ideally next trip after. I want to take a train up the Baltics because it's really not far from Vilnius to Riga. I just don't have the money this time round.

      @juodaroze  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @mpb6491 sounds great 👍 and we'll as cultures and architectures go Russia supposed to be nice especially stpeterburg but I never been so can't say for sure.
      You will like the countryside of Lithuania and you might even be lucky to see one of the old boys still using horse and cart to get around between the villages. I personally love the fact horses are actually functioning in the villages. Absolutely majestic animals (hoping to have some ) in future haha

    • @mpb6491
      @mpb6491 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@juodaroze ooo that sounds good. Shame I don't have more time to ferry a ride to a village. But I've set alot on my itinerary.
      Hopefully you'll meet that dream. I'm sure it's not even a long journey on horse from one side of the country to the other.
      Oh and I've been to St Petersburg. It is as all Russians cities a mixture of beautiful and depressing. But st Petersburg is a special case. It's the cultural capital of Russia for sure. And heavily influenced by its proximity to Europe. But it's absolutely worth it to see. I think there is 10+ palaces In that city. And it has double the population of all of Lithuania in one city. It's quite a busy bustling place.

    Labas!! Congrats on the move! I was wondering if i could be so bold as to ask you some more specific/personal questions about your move?
    Me and my lithuanian husband are about to move to Kaunas from the UK and we've hit confusing snag around customs declarations. We've hired someone to take most of the larger stuff like our bed for example but i don't trust anyone moving my TV and accompanying Sonos so we're planning on taking it in the car with us. The only issue is from what we've read so far it's going to cost £600+ in taxes!
    I was just wondering if you had anything similar happen or are we missing something? Any help would be apreciated 😀

    • @juodaroze
      @juodaroze  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi, thanks :)
      Yeh no problem I can answer few of your questions for sure.
      Well first of all to pay customs as far as I was aware you don't pay anything if you basically moving your own goods that you have already paid taxes on and intend to use yourself and not sell. I had loads of tools and things that I accumulated over the years and TV, vacuum cleaner, and all that kind of stuff around the house that we wanted to keep and put in a big van that we hired from guys that regularly drive to LT and UK making deliveries. It cost us 1.5k but all the stuff got there ok. we left all the bulky stuff like beds, sofas, and even a beautiful solid oak wardrobe with a tv stand just because if you have a sentimental value to something then it is definitely worth taking, otherwise, it would probably get damaged in transit or even at home whilst you get things sorted . And in LT you will definitely find nice beds to buy or wardrobes and they will be new. we sold most of our stuff with the idea that we would spend the money we got on basically new stuff that would suit our new home.
      But in short, sell what you can and buy new in LT IKEA and all the other shops exist here. Get a delivery man with a van that does the drive on a regular basis, fill it with your stuff and he will get it where you want it. then get what is left in your car and have a nice drive with no unnecessary stress or fly :D
      hope that helps.

    Hey, I can see that this video is a year old. How is life in Lithuania after a year? Did you have trouble adapting? My wife is English and we're also planning to move to LT at some point in the future. Was there a big culture shock for someone who grew up in UK?

    • @juodaroze
      @juodaroze  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @gairionysten3188 hi there 😊 in regards to adapting it was pretty easy for us as we speak Lithuanian and we're aware of the culture. There was some struggle with harsh winters and I guess how direct some people can be here but not all haha don't be surprised if you smile at someone and they look at you like you're crazy smiling at a stranger hahs but I would say that's the older generation haha for example I have done some shopping and was carrying it out the store with my small daughter in my hands and this lady was in front of me she came out the door and practically let it loose on to my face lol making me basically kick the door as my hands were clearly full haha I don't know why but this has stuck myth me as I guess I would never do that to anyone especially a kid in theyr hands haha how ever these things are rare . In general I would say people are pretty polite here especially to foreigners:) we sometimes speak English with each other in the public as it's easier and my oldest daughter still talks mostly English even tho she knows both languages so in public we get some looks but all good in general haha
      The winters are harsh especially where we live and the access can be difficult after a storm as we're pretty rural but the road gets cleaned by the government eventually lol . But all in were absolutely loving it :)
